SOG Issues a Pair of 30th Anniversary Knives

Saturday, January 16th, 2016

Limited number of commemorative Tech Bowies and Tridents will be available                                                                                                                                                                               ?
Lynnwood, WA. – SOG® Specialty Knives and Tools will kick off 2016 by celebrating its 30th anniversary, and as part of the salute to three decades of producing some of the world’s most used knives and tools, SOG will be issuing special commemorative editions of two of its most iconic knives.

SOG’s commemorative fixed-blade offering is the Tech Bowie, a 6.4”-inch bladed beast of a knife with an easy gripping Kraton rubber handle. Made with AUS-8 steel, the sleek lines of the Tech Bowie harken back to the original SOG knife used by U.S. special operation forces in the jungles of Vietnam. Retail price for the special edition Tech Bowie is $280.

The tried-and-true Trident will be SOG’s folding version of its commemorative knife. Featuring SOG’s patented SOG Assisted Technology for a quick and smooth opening, a 3.75-inch AUS-8 steel blade and a seatbelt cutter built into the handle, the Trident has gained legions of fans for its versatility and practical applications. Retail price for the special edition Trident is $216.

Both special edition knives feature tiger stripe camouflage pattern on the blades – an homage to the camouflage pattern used by the MACV-SOG group. Each blade has the pattern etched and engraved giving a multi-layered design that is both visual and tactile. In addition, knives are numbered, engraved with 30th anniversary logo, and have both the current and original SOG logos. Each knife comes in a wood presentation/display box with commemorative patch, challenge coin, and certificate signed by SOG founder Spencer Frazer.

There will be a production run of just 300 for both commemorative knives and they will only be available at www.sogknives.com and select retailers beginning in February 2016.

““The Tech Bowie and Trident have consistently been among our most popular knives,” said Nando Zucchi, SOG’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “It makes sense to put this anniversary twist on two of our exemplary favorites.”

Frazer began SOG in 1986 by selling a replica version of the Japanese Bowie Knife used by an elite Special Forces military group from the Vietnam era – the Studies and Observation Group. That one knife, first advertised in Soldier of Fortune magazine, launched a company that now produces the favorite models of specialty knives and tools used by the military, law enforcement, industrial tradesmen and outdoor enthusiasts worldwide. As SOG turns 30 in 2016, SOG brings to the market new offerings in knives, multi tools and tactical transport packs.

“It’s amazing to see how SOG has grown from its humble start 30 years ago,” said Frazer. “My goal in the beginning was simply to produce quality products that honored their military history. It still is, and I never would have dreamt that SOG would become what it is today – a brand synonymous with high end men’s gear and distributed throughout the world. It’s thanks to our customers that made this possible.”

Comp-Tac Victory Gear Introduces New Q Line of Holsters at SHOT 2016

Saturday, January 16th, 2016

Houston, TX – Comp-Tac Victory Gear, a leading manufacturer of quality holsters and holster accessories, has introduced a new line of holsters; The Q Line. Modular and easy-to-use, these holsters address shooter’s needs for storage, range use and concealed carry; all while maintaining the high-quality construction and materials expected from Comp-Tac’s products. The models offer both inside the waistband or outside the waistband holsters for concealed carry or competition with multiple clip options. The holsters will be on display at the company’s booth (#15743) during SHOT Show 2016 in Las Vegas, NV.

The Q Line of holsters are designed for individuals both new to handguns, as well as those looking for a versatile solution, providing simplicity and value for their daily carry. Offering a more modular design, each holster allows for a variety of gun models, with no interchangeable shells or clips required. As is the case with all of COMP-TAC’s holsters, each of the models in the Q Line provide Retention Adjustment for a secure fit, and are molded with Kydex bodies (best materials for smooth no-stick draw). The durable yet gentle mounting options are built strong enough withstand wear and tear, all while protecting belts, clothing and car seats.

The Q-H (Hybrid) Holster

For the shooter who is looking for the ultimate option in comfort and sturdy easy to draw from holster, Comp-Tac has created the Hybrid option in the Q Line: The QH. Combining experience and innovation into a price point that will allow concealed carry customers both novice and veteran to stay on budget, and still get all the best holster features.

The open-ended shell makes for a perfect fit for firearms of varying lengths, and the funneled design allows for easy draw and re-holster. The Kydex shell permits a smooth, no-stick draw, maintains it shape for easy re-holster and is made from a Kydex designed to withstand a fall test.

The Q-H has leather backing for maximum comfort and easy concealment. A tension adjustment screw allows users to adjust the tension to each different firearm that they carry in the modular shell. The patented Comp-Tac Clips, offer users ride height and cant adjustment to allow them to set the holster up for their own personal comfort requirements.

The Q-I (Inside the Waistband) Holster

Designed to meet a growing demand for versatile, inside-the-waistband Kydex holsters, Comp-Tac perfected the notion by taking into account unique user experiences, expertise and the concept that different body shapes and lifestyles create multiple concealed carry needs.

The Q-I is made with an open-ended shell for a perfect fit for forearms of varying lengths, and the funneled design allows for easy draw and re-holster. It offers Comp-Tac’s one of a kind, all Kydex construction and molding for the smoothest fastest draw, and a retention adjustment screw for the perfect hold for multiple firearms in each modular size.

Taking into account the ambidextrous shooters, the holster has a dual sided multi-option mounting block, which also allows for the adjustment of cant at 30° for multiple position wear. The sight-enabled design accommodates up to .5” high night sights, suppressor sights and rear sight mounted optics.

In an effort to maximize comfort and minimize stress points, the Q-I is designed with smooth edges throughout, with a polymer clip that allows for fast and easy wear. Its minimalist size is perfect to quickly put on, easy carry on the body and effortless storage when not in use.

The Q-B (Outside the Waistband Belt) Holster

Comp-Tac has perfected the demand for Outside the Waistband holsters. Their involvement in general shooting activities, range use, and competitive shooting sports has given them the knowledge to develop the best in outside the waistband holsters.

The Q-B, is made with an open-ended shell for a perfect fit for firearms of varying lengths, and the funneled design allows for easy draw and re-holster. It offers Comp-Tac’s one of a kind, all Kydex construction and molding for the smoothest fastest draw, and a retention adjustment screw for the perfect hold regardless of which firearm used in the modular size ranges.

Unique to the Q-B are mount holes that are compatible with all industry mounting options for belt, molle or thigh holsters. The QB comes with the popular Push-Button Mount that is designed to be added quickly and easily to the belt while offering the security of a sliding lock to hold securely when needed. The multiple holes allow for 180° cant adjustment. The QB is legal for all competitive shooting sports and provides a quick, easy-to-use concealed carry option.

“Development of the Q Line has been one of the most exciting projects I have had the chance to work on here at Comp-Tac. From initial concept stages, R&D, fit, finish and function almost every Comp-Tac employee had a hand in the design. In addition, we were even able to involve customers in some beta testing which gave us valuable feedback,” explained Comp-Tac’s President and Owner, Gregg Garrett.

“The Q Line provides the modular fit, the flexibility to personalize and the value that we as shooters want and that our customers have been asking for.”

The full Q Line of holsters will be available for purchase on Thursday, January 16th, through Comp-Tac’s website.
