A3 Tactical – Double Picatinny Clamp

Tuesday, December 20th, 2016

image1

This little device is A3 Tactical’s Double Picatinny Clamp. As the name implies, the Double Picatinny Clamp is designed to mount one Picatinny rail to another, providing, as A3 states, “virtually limitless possibilities… only limited by your imagination” in regards to accessories, guns, and gear featuring Picatinny-spec rails, at least. It’s CNC machined from 6061 aluminum, and its design prevents fore/aft movement of the rails, as well as preventing marring of your rails thanks to dowels that are machined slightly taller than the industry-standard Picatinny groove.

Of course, A3’s Double Picatinny Clamp does also give you the option to attach entire firearms to one another, creating combinations such as this:

Strike Industries –  Take The AntiVenom-XPLC $20K Challenge

Monday, December 19th, 2016

You read the headline right. Strike Industries has just introduced a new weapon lubricant and they are offering $20,000 to the first person or company who can prove there is a better all-in-one or multi-purpose lubricant available in the firearms industry (from corrosion, friction, cleaning to dielectric properties). Considering the hoopla we’ve seen in the past over lubricant testing, this should be pretty interesting.

But first, you’ve got to know a littie about AntiVenom-XPLC.

dsc_0095_2

Strike Industries’ AntiVenom-XPLC is a general purpose weapon lubricant, cleaner, and protection solution. AntiVenom is heat activated, with a high film strength and pressure resistance. It is also designed to be safe to use on polymers, metals, and even elctro-optics and lighting systems.

Features
– Powerful lubricant, preservative, and cleaner for all Aluminums and Steel alloys.
– Ionized molecular structure permeates microcrystalline surfaces, creating extremely high film strength and surface adhesion.
– Formula invades and pushes out other compounds, including oils, solvents, salts, some acids, and water.
– Maximum protection from -20° to 500°F. Can operate briefly at temps upwards of 600°F.
– Zero Chlorinated Paraffins and Lead: won’t harm metals stored for long periods of time or exposed to moisture
– Low VOC content (propellant): safer for organic life forms than other aerosol delivered products.
– Hydrophobic, Polymer safe, Dielectric (safe for use on Electro-optics and lighting systems).

If you’re up to the Strike Industries $20k Challenge, these videos will give you an idea of the types of internal testing they’ve conducted and the types of things you’ll need to accomplish to claim your prize.

It’s No Longer A Rumor – S&W M2.0 Is Confirmed

Monday, December 19th, 2016

Back in August, Soldier Systems Daily broke the story on a trademark filing from Smith & Wesson hinting towards a brand-new version of the S&W M&P pistol line dubbed ‘M2.0’, that we filed under rumor mill.

10763955

Well, it’s a rumor no longer because The Firearm Blog found, just recently, Academy Sports had a listing for the new M2.0 pistol line on their website, including this product description:

The Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 9mm Semiautomatic Pistol features an M&P M2.0 trigger and includes both a control-enhancing grip texture and 4 interchangeable palm swell grip inserts. This striker-fired pistol also includes a corrosion-resistant Armornite finish and boasts a steel-white dot front sight and steel-white 2-dot rear sight.

Features and Benefits

  • Semiautomatic, striker-fired action with a 17-round capacity
  • Corrosion-resistant Armornite finish
  • Aggressive grip texture
  • 4 interchangeable palm swell grip inserts
  • M&P M2.0 trigger
  • Steel-white dot front sight and steel-white 2-dot rear sight
  • Important Product and Safety Information
  • We recommend the use of protective eyewear whenever using or near the use of this item.

    What’s in the Box:
    Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 9mm Semiautomatic Pistol

The pistol itself looks ‘sharper’ and ‘more aggressive’ to our eyes when compared to the original M&P pistols, if that makes any sense; Admin described it as “less Glock, more SIG”. No mention of the full-length guide rails our original source hinted at, but the new trigger is confirmed, and the inclusion of new grip texture and palm swell grips is a plus. It also features the new ‘M2.0’ logo in a fairly low-key position, rearward on the side of the pistol’s slide.

    leaked

Considering you can’t find the listing on Academy Sports’ website any longer, it’s likely this was an unintentional leak, which makes sense considering SHOT Show is a scant month away. Expect to see more info on the new M2.0 line when SHOT Show 2017 rolls around.

PROOF Research Announces CAMGAS Barrel Design for AR-10 Variants

    Friday, December 16th, 2016

Caliber Matched Gas System™ offers improved performance and reliability for 6.5mm and .260

Columbia Falls, Montana – With the release of its new patent-pending Caliber Matched Gas System (CAMGAS) barrels, PROOF Research has eliminated the issues traditionally associated with building 6.5mm and .260 rifles on 308AR/AR-10 platforms. Until now, AR-variant shooters looking for ballistic advantages from either of these calibers were faced with excessive bore pressures that necessitated makeshift solutions such as clipping buffer springs, adjusting buffer weights, and/or relying on adjustable gas blocks, to keep their rifles functioning properly.

PROOF’s R&D team has solved the overpressure issue with gas systems tuned specifically to the cartridge/barrel-length combination. “By moving the gas port, the pressure in the bore is given time to reduce to that comparable of a .308 Winchester with a rifle-length gas system, which is what the 308AR/AR-10 system was designed around,” said Greg Hamilton, PROOF’s research-and-development weapons specialist who’s also a 3-Gun and PRS competitive shooter. “The recoil impulse is noticeably smoother, which helps keep you on target while taking advantage of a more efficient projectile. Case extraction is also easier, with less case-head smearing, so the brass is in much better condition for reloading.”

In recent years, 6.5mm Creedmoor and .260 Remington have become increasingly popular in long-range shooting competitions. The .260 in particular represents an outstanding caliber for a military counter-sniper role—out to roughly 1,000 meters—in smaller- to mid-sized weapon systems. It offers exceptional accuracy and superior ballistics over the ubiquitous .308 while dishing out substantially less recoil and enough energy to make it a legitimate contender for military and law enforcement applications.

“I’ve been using prototype CAMGAS barrels, in both .260 and 6.5 Creedmoor, in competition for almost a year with excellent results,” Hamilton explained. “Both rifles ran flawlessly through high-round, fast-cadence stages, firing hundreds of rounds with 100 percent reliability and zero maintenance or cleaning. From recoil to reliability, every aspect of performance was improved compared to the typical un-tuned barrel.”

PROOF Research currently offers Caliber Matched Gas System barrels chambered for 6.5mm Creedmoor and .260 Remington in three separate lengths: 20, 22, and 24 inches (See more here). Every CAMGAS barrel comes standard with an easy to install custom-length gas tube. TALON Grips Introduces Moss Colored Rubber Grips

    Tuesday, December 13th, 2016

    moss-black-g17

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colorado (November 14, 2016) – TALON Grips introduces Moss colored rubber grips to their industry leading line of adhesive backed firearm grips.

Moss is the first custom colored rubber grip added to the TALON Grips line. The new color enables TALON Grips users to customize the look of their firearms while improving their interface with the firearm for better performance.

All TALON Grips firearm specific grip designs will be available in Moss. The new product rollout will be graduated by brand to allow for production time. Initially the grips will be available directly from TALON Grips. Moss grips will be available to TALON Retailers beginning February 1, 2017.

The introduction of Moss is the result of customer demand. Flat Dark Earth (FDE) and Olive Drab (OD) are preferred colors in tactical and military circles which has driven demand in the private sector. With many manufacturers producing FDE and OD firearms, Moss is TALON Grips answer to the popularity of FDE.

“This is a project that has been in the works for several years, and we are excited to introduce Moss grips to our line. Our team did an unbelievable job stepping up to each challenge and exceeding every expectation. We believe the teamwork resulted in a product that lives up to our, and more importantly, our customers’ expectations, it is like nothing else on the market,” said Mike Morris, President of TALON Grips. He continued, “Sure, Moss TALON Grips looks great on FDE and OD firearms and it looks even better on black.”

    moss-fde-and-black-g17s

TALON Grips received numerous samples of FDE, OD, Tan, and Grey from leading firearm manufacturers throughout the development of the new Moss color. TALON Grips Moss is not intended to match any particular manufacturer’s version of FDE. “Our goal was to create a color that would complement as many manufacturers’ color interpretations as possible. “We tested the color alongside most major manufacturers FDE and OD and believe customers will be as pleased with the color combinations as we are,” said Michael Morris.

With the introduction of the new color grips TALON Grips will be expanding its offerings from over 400 products to over 600 products.
