Kinetic Research Group – Whiskey-3 And X-Ray Chassis

Monday, February 6th, 2017

Kinetic Research Group specializes in long-range precision shooting components and was founded by several Special Forces Veterans. Although they’ve been around for several years, they continue to run the business lean, like a startup and due to their specialized nature, are relatively unknown outside of the “Sniper” community. They’ve got several new items coming in the future, but I thought SSD readers would be interested in their Whiskey-3 And X-Ray Chassis.

Whiskey-3 (Gen 5)

0001

The Whiskey-3 chassis combines precise aluminum bedding with tool-less adjustments, durability, and excellent ergonomics. The chassis will accept the Accuracy International magazine without any special bottom metal. Available in fixed and folding options.

X-Ray (Gen 2)

0002

The X-Ray chassis was designed as a less expensive option to the Whiskey-3. It is lightweight, user adjustable and offers similar ergonomics but it’s going to take a little more work to set everything up. This tradeoff means you can be in a KRG chassis for half (or less) the price of the W3. However, it’s only available as a fixed stock. There’s a lot of info on their website about this stock so make sure this is the one for you.

Was Ist Das Denn Für Eine Neue Sturmgewehr von Heckler & Koch?

Thursday, February 2nd, 2017

My friend JP has posted the first story mentioning H&K’s new 433 on his blog, Strategie & Technik.

The blog is in German and rife with technical jargon making it difficult for many to make out. The guys at Spartanat have provided this translation. Correction, Mike Hartman provided the translation.

Roughly translated from German:
“The system connects – as HK in a first info – the advantages of HK416 and G36, both known as short-stroke gas pressure loaders with rotary head closure. The modular, two-hand operated weapon is not an AR-15 architecture, which eliminates the buffer tube. This allows the assembly of a foldable, length- and height-adjustable shoulder support. The transfer lever has an integrated closing aid, can be mounted without tools on both sides of the gun and remains in its position during the closing movement. The barrel lengths are interchangeable on utility level. The “Lower” can be adjusted to the G36 or the HK416 operating concept (45/90 or 90/180 degree firing levers). All loading operations can be carried out in the safe state. In accordance with the NATO standard AC225 / D14, safety is given according to the manufacturer in both the safe and the firing state. The upper part of the housing has a continuous 4694 rail at 12 o’clock. On the hand guard, a Mil-Std 1913 rail is still attached to 3 and 9 o’clock HKey interfaces and to 6 o’clock.”

Update: Larry Vickers shared these photos os the 433 on Facebook.

Additionally, SPARTANAT shared these images from H&K.

I hope to see it first hand during next month’s IWA in Germany.

Q Fix Pre-Order Goes Live Tonight

Wednesday, February 1st, 2017

During an IG Live broadcast earlier tonite, the Q crew showed off The Fix bolt action rifle and announced that pre-orders go live tonight at Midnight EST.

The pre-order is $2795 and limited to 500 rifles. Both .308 (16″) and 6.5 Creedmoor (22″) will be available. The Bartlein barrels will come with the Cherry Bomb flash hider and The Fix can be pre-ordered with the Trash PANDA silencer with matching serial number. The .308 is clear anodized with Blue accents. The 6.5 will offer a different accent color. I’m rooting for Orange. The clear anodizing is stronger than pigmented and means that parts made from different materials will have slightly different colors.

Rifles include two Magpul PMAGs and pre-orders will come with a Blue Force Gear weapon case in Blue. The shoulder strap is also a sling and there are modular pouches for silencer, magazines and a clear topped pouch for accessories.

Dealers must order at least five rifles to get dealer pricing.

There will be additional barrels in the future. There is a scope mount and short handguard available as well.

Look for mid-summer delivery.

IMG_0150

S&W revealed the new Performance Center Shield 45 at this year’s SHOT. The PC 45 Shield shares the same rough grip texture as the standard model, and features factory ported barrel and slide, and high visibility sights like the earlier 9 and 40 shield PC models. The PC 45 Shield is being offered both with and without a thumb safety.

The 45 Shield PC is also being offered with tritium night sights in lieu of the high visibility contrast sights. Both models come with 1 extended 7-round magazine, and one flush fit 6-round magazine.

SHOT Show 17 – SKELI X11

Wednesday, January 25th, 2017

IMG_0094

Upon first glance, the SKELI X11 bears at least a passing resemblance to the earliest iterations of the Magpul Masada, and with its ambidextrous controls, gas piston operation, folding stock, and quick-change barrel system, it meets many of the design notes of the Masada as well. The X11 is a short stroke piston rifle weighing in at 6.8 lbs. unloaded, and features an aluminum frame, M-LOK forend, polymer grip, monolithic 1913 rail, and a 16″ 41V50 barrel with a 1:7 twist rate. Proposed quick-change barrel options include the standard 5.56, as well as .300 BLK, 6.8 SPC, and 6.5 Grendel. As a bonus, the X11 is designed to accept AR-15 trigger packs, giving purchasers a wide range of established trigger options if they pick one of these up.

As is implied in the image above, the X11 is compatible with STANAG magazines, and will ship with Lancer polymer mags.
