Rumor Has It Confirmed – H&K Wins CSASS

Thursday, March 31st, 2016

It’s beyond rumor at this point. According to multiple sources familiar with various aspects of the program, H&K’s entry for the Compact Semi-Automatic Sniper System (CSASS) program was selected earlier this week for procurement by the United States Army. Other finalists were LMT and FNH USA.

The entry, named the G28E1, was displayed at SHOT Show in H&K’s booth. Interestingly, it incorporates an OSS Suppressor.

The program for this new, compact version of a 7.62 NATO gas gun finds its beginning in 2012 but the actual solicitation wasn’t until late 2014 with the goal being “improved reliability, improved accuracy, and improved ergonomics; reduced weight and length; advanced coatings; improved optics; reduced felt recoil; enhanced suppressor performance; enhanced modular rail capabilities; an improved bipod, trigger, pistol grip, and buttstock.” Since then, the candidates have been through a down select to further trim the field to three and numerous testing regimines.

According to documents obtained by SSD, the Army has been planning events around an ‘M-110E1’, referred to as an improved version of the M-110 which is more compact and lighter weight, leading us to believe that the CSASS will adopt this nomenclature.

PEO Soldier did not respond to our request for information regarding this award. No word yet on how many the Army plans to purchase or the Basis of Issue.

Gunfighters Inc – Spectre Shoulder Holster

Sunday, March 27th, 2016

1

Gunfighters Inc has decided to reimagine the shoulder holster with the Spectre. The Spectre is a hybrid of nylon and kydex, fully modular with multiple swappable components: single and double magazine pouches, pistol holsters for several popular handgun models, and a suppressor carrier. Future components will include, but are not limited to, handcuff carriers and rifle magazine carriers. The components attach via buckles, so they’re easy to swap; click a button and you’re done. On top of that, the buckles have 135° of pivot for comfort and are designed to be low-profile.

The Spectre is designed to conceal under a light jacket, and the cant angle is adjustable. Additionally, the harness itself is 4-way adjustable, and is made in-house at Gunfighters Inc, out of US sourced components. Those of you looking for an alternative to typical belt carry systems may want to give the Spectre a look.

USASOC Sniper Comp – B&T Industries

Friday, March 25th, 2016

B&T Industries makes a variety of weapon accessories such as the Atlas bipod. One of their newest items is the Silo which is a Picatinny compatible pad that can be quickly mounted, adjusted and dimounted from a rail thanks to their Flushcup Stud.  It works as a pin across the rail and the Silo slides easily into position.

Inspired by shooters strapping bean bags into their rifles for stability, the Silo can be placed where needed on the rail to give you a stable platform on rough terrain or against a barricade.  Additionally, each side has a rubber section so it won’t move if held up against the side of a window or other fixture.
