Ritter & Stark To Demonstrate SX-1 Modular Tactical Rifle at VFOB Try & Buy Event

Wednesday, December 28th, 2016

The long-range precision SX-1 MTR rifle designed and produces in Austria will be available for media and buyers to try at the VFOB Try & Buy event before SHOT Show 2017.

Feistritz, Austria (December 2016) – Ritter & Stark, an Austrian-based firearms design and manufacturing company, are bringing their SX-1 Modular Tactical Rifle (MTR) to the Veterans Forward Operating Base – Try & Buy event January 15 & 16, 2017 at the Pro Gun Club in Boulder City, Nevada. The event, sponsored by the Veterans Family of Brands, will host 50 members of the VFOB family and 50 additional manufacturers showcasing an array of firearms and firearms gear.

The 2-day event precedes the annual SHOT Show® and will give dealers and media members the opportunity to try some of the latest and hottest weapon platforms on two ranges. Ritter & Starks’ new entry into the long-range precision rifle niche has already received a large amount of attention and press on the international defense market, as well as its US debut at the 2017 AUSA show.

VFOB Try & Buy attendees will be able to shoot the SX-1 MTR and see first-hand how fast one can change calibers between a .308 Win., .300 Win Magnum and a .338 Lapua Magnum. Scopes do not have to be changed out or re-sighted since the SX-1 MTR barrels feature a MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail installed directly on the barrel. Pre-set scopes make conversion barrel change-outs quick and efficient without any loss of zero.

Ritter & Stark barrels are guaranteed to at least leading in industry 5,000 rounds for .308Win and .338LM, and 2,000 rounds for .300WM assuring 100% of accuracy. Ritter & Stark’s SX-1 MTR’s performance is factory proven to be a consistent 0.5 MOA with 3-round groups or better using factory match grade ammunition.

See and try the Ritter & Stark SX-1 MTR at the VFOB Try & Buy. Reservations are required at info@veteransfob.com. Visit Ritter & Stark at the SHOT Show and see the future of rifle systems available now at the NEXT Pavilion, Kiosk 331. Strike Industries Announces SI 2017 Pistol/Rifle, Based On MP5

Tuesday, December 27th, 2016

Last night, Strike Industries unveiled their new SI 2017 Pistol/Rifle which is created by combining this aluminum upper receiver with an MP5 Trigger Group and barrel.  In case you’re wondering about the stock, it’s from a SIG MPX as they’ve incorporated the MIL STD 1913 rail to the rear of the receiver.

It’s an interesting project as MP5 trigger packs do not have serial numbers and are not considered firearms.  Consequently, this means that the SI 2017 component will be the serial numbered item.  As you can see below, they’ve planned multiple upper lengths.

There aren’t a lot of details yet, but it will be on display in booth #20114 at SHOT Show 2017.

Update: We received this info from Strike Industries:

First and foremost we are keeping the system true to the standard MP5 being one of the most widely used platforms for LEO/MIL worldwide. We don’t want them to have to retrain to new operating procedures so still no bolt lock back. May be a possible upgrade in the future…

The upper is compatible with the already widely available MP5 Lower Receiver, Bolt and trigger pack, what we are aiming to provide is an updated modular upper with, barrel, handguard, and stock configurations for pistol, sbr and rifle options “user choice”.

It will feature continuous top rail, MLOK rail system, integrated flip up front and rear sights on all length options except the shortest length due to structural limits and feature an ambi charging handle.

The US Army’s Advanced Combat Rifle Program

Thursday, December 22nd, 2016

Every couple of decades the Army decides to look for a new service rifle. At the end of the 1980s, that search was called the Advanced Combat Rifle Program. Unfortunately, these programs never result in new weapons for the military but many of their concepts make it into commercial products. This Army film takes a look at the ACR.

A3 Tactical – Double Picatinny Clamp

Tuesday, December 20th, 2016

image1

This little device is A3 Tactical’s Double Picatinny Clamp. As the name implies, the Double Picatinny Clamp is designed to mount one Picatinny rail to another, providing, as A3 states, “virtually limitless possibilities… only limited by your imagination” in regards to accessories, guns, and gear featuring Picatinny-spec rails, at least. It’s CNC machined from 6061 aluminum, and its design prevents fore/aft movement of the rails, as well as preventing marring of your rails thanks to dowels that are machined slightly taller than the industry-standard Picatinny groove.

Of course, A3’s Double Picatinny Clamp does also give you the option to attach entire firearms to one another, creating combinations such as this:

Strike Industries –  Take The AntiVenom-XPLC $20K Challenge

Monday, December 19th, 2016

You read the headline right. Strike Industries has just introduced a new weapon lubricant and they are offering $20,000 to the first person or company who can prove there is a better all-in-one or multi-purpose lubricant available in the firearms industry (from corrosion, friction, cleaning to dielectric properties). Considering the hoopla we’ve seen in the past over lubricant testing, this should be pretty interesting.

But first, you’ve got to know a littie about AntiVenom-XPLC.

dsc_0095_2

Strike Industries’ AntiVenom-XPLC is a general purpose weapon lubricant, cleaner, and protection solution. AntiVenom is heat activated, with a high film strength and pressure resistance. It is also designed to be safe to use on polymers, metals, and even elctro-optics and lighting systems.

Features
– Powerful lubricant, preservative, and cleaner for all Aluminums and Steel alloys.
– Ionized molecular structure permeates microcrystalline surfaces, creating extremely high film strength and surface adhesion.
– Formula invades and pushes out other compounds, including oils, solvents, salts, some acids, and water.
– Maximum protection from -20° to 500°F. Can operate briefly at temps upwards of 600°F.
– Zero Chlorinated Paraffins and Lead: won’t harm metals stored for long periods of time or exposed to moisture
– Low VOC content (propellant): safer for organic life forms than other aerosol delivered products.
– Hydrophobic, Polymer safe, Dielectric (safe for use on Electro-optics and lighting systems).

If you’re up to the Strike Industries $20k Challenge, these videos will give you an idea of the types of internal testing they’ve conducted and the types of things you’ll need to accomplish to claim your prize.

Corrosion

Dielectric

Look for details soon from Strike Industries on specifically how you can take a shot at that $20,000.

It’s No Longer A Rumor – S&W M2.0 Is Confirmed

Monday, December 19th, 2016

Back in August, Soldier Systems Daily broke the story on a trademark filing from Smith & Wesson hinting towards a brand-new version of the S&W M&P pistol line dubbed ‘M2.0’, that we filed under rumor mill.

10763955

Well, it’s a rumor no longer because The Firearm Blog found, just recently, Academy Sports had a listing for the new M2.0 pistol line on their website, including this product description:

The Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 9mm Semiautomatic Pistol features an M&P M2.0 trigger and includes both a control-enhancing grip texture and 4 interchangeable palm swell grip inserts. This striker-fired pistol also includes a corrosion-resistant Armornite finish and boasts a steel-white dot front sight and steel-white 2-dot rear sight.

Features and Benefits

  • Semiautomatic, striker-fired action with a 17-round capacity
  • Corrosion-resistant Armornite finish
  • Aggressive grip texture
  • 4 interchangeable palm swell grip inserts
  • M&P M2.0 trigger
  • Steel-white dot front sight and steel-white 2-dot rear sight
  • Important Product and Safety Information
  • We recommend the use of protective eyewear whenever using or near the use of this item.

    What’s in the Box:
    Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 9mm Semiautomatic Pistol

The pistol itself looks ‘sharper’ and ‘more aggressive’ to our eyes when compared to the original M&P pistols, if that makes any sense; Admin described it as “less Glock, more SIG”. No mention of the full-length guide rails our original source hinted at, but the new trigger is confirmed, and the inclusion of new grip texture and palm swell grips is a plus. It also features the new ‘M2.0’ logo in a fairly low-key position, rearward on the side of the pistol’s slide.

    leaked

Considering you can’t find the listing on Academy Sports’ website any longer, it’s likely this was an unintentional leak, which makes sense considering SHOT Show is a scant month away. Expect to see more info on the new M2.0 line when SHOT Show 2017 rolls around.
