Milipol 17 – EMD / S&S Precision

November 21st, 2017

Bretagne-based EMD has an awesome booth which showcases the products of their various vendors.

img_0224.jpg

Above you can see a manakin set up as a K9 handler wearing kit from a variety of manufacturers including S&S Precision.

While the booth is awesome, something S&S Precision is exhibiting in it is very interesting. They have new handwear called WetWerx Maritime Assault Gloves. Like the name says, they are designed for use in wet environments and come is cold and warm models, with usage prescribed by air, rather than water temperature.

B72B059B-185C-4E1D-A786-E2B9C3AAA2F6

The following construction is common to both models. The palm is Axe Suede making it very grippy in wet environments and incorporates keyhole thumb construction for improved articulation. The wrap-up index finger construction removes the seam off of your finger pad for better trigger feel. The other fingers use wrap-over construction for improved feel in the finger tips. This also makes it easier to pick things up. The trigger finger and the thumb edge (Gripmax thumb construction) are also conductive. Finally, they offer quick don and doff.

The differences come down to materials. Warm Maritime Assault Glove feature water repellant open mesh offering quick dry times. The Cold Maritime Assualt Glove is made 2mm Neoproene with wind resistant patches at the back of finger and hand. Its gasketed wrist seal prevents water flushing in order to keep your hand warmer.

Offered in standard handwear sizing in Grey. The Black colored Warm is a sample only. Available December 1st from www.sandsprecision.com.

Milipol 17 – H&K 416F

November 21st, 2017

Earlier this year, the French Army selected the 5.56mm Heckler & Koch 416 to replace the FAMAS, issued since the 1970s.

Offered in Standard (14.5” barrel) and Carbine (11” barrel) models, the HK416 F features the latest ambidextrous controls.

However, there are also a few differences on the French version.  First, the barrel allows the use of rifle grenades.

Additionally, the French model eliminates the selective gas regulator.  The standard 416 is above and the 416 F below.

The French have also chosen the original collapsible but stock rather than the Slimline model used on newer versions of the HK416.

Finally, you may notice that there is an Aimpont Comp M5 mounted to this rifle.  The French Army is currently in source selection for a rifle optic and this is only one of the options they are considering.

Milipol 17 – Meprolight

November 21st, 2017

Although they were released earlier this year, this was the first time I had gotten my hands on Meprolight’s MicroTDS and FT Bullseye.

MicroRDS

The MicroRDS is intended to allow a shooter to attach a red dot sight to his pistol by removing the rear sight and replacing it in the dovetail with the MicroRDS mounting ramp. The MicroRDS features a QD connector and can then be attached and removed with ease.

FT Bullseye

img_0172.jpg

The FT Bullseye is a rear sight assembly which once again, fits into the dovetail cut of the slide. It’s a low profile design which is intended to allow the shooter to quickly aim without using a front sight. It features a tritium self-illuminated inlay in orange or green so the aiming dot can be seen in any light condition.
