Tyrant Designs CNC, an industry leader in high end, aftermarket AR grips announced that they have released their new line of grips, the LWP Grip. Available in black, red, blue and grey the Lightweight Pro series is CNC machined from a single piece of aerospace grade aluminum. The grips weigh in at a surprisingly light 3.4 ounces, thanks to some weight savings by milling out the entire inside of the grip as well as addition holes on the top.

“The Lightweight Pro tips the scales at 3.4 ounces and is lighter than the majority of available grips currently on the market. ( Yes we mean polymers too) ! We set out to create the lightest, most ergonomic grip on the market without compromising the structural integrity and quality. It is CNC machined from a single piece of aerospace grade aluminum and has a knurled back strap for additional adhesion. It instantly gives the operator the confidence needed in any weather or scenario, all while maintaining the consistency needed for a light weight build. Despite its lightweight it is incredibly durable and does not feel flimsy in the hand. If you are looking for the perfect grip for your lightweight build, look no further than the LWP!”

UF PRO – Delta Eagle Jacket

October 6th, 2016

THE WIND BREAKER. UF PRO RELEASE THE GEN.2 DELTA EAGLE JACKET.

As the weather turns colder and wetter you really do need to get the very best performance from your clothing system, and the UF PRO® Delta Eagle Jacket is a bomber-tough, all – purpose soft shell jacket for almost all weather conditions and low temperatures.

material-construction

The UF PRO® team have revisited their original Delta Eagle and brought things fully up to date using the most advanced fabrics, material and technology currently available.

The latest iteration of the Delta Eagle jacket is the perfect choice for cooler and damp environments due to its special material construction. The jacket is made out of a high quality breathable ePTFE based softshell material, which is lined on the inside with an insulating microfleece.

The face fabric of the jacket is highly windproof and water-repellent, which means it will protect you against wind-chill and even light drizzle; in truly horrendous wet weather conditions it can even be worn as an insulator under one of their Monsoon waterproof rain jackets.

hoodharness

The Delta Eagle jacket is equipped with a new generation of the UF PRO® Hood/Harness® system. The system comfortably connects your head with the hood without bringing it directly in contact with the laminate.

This also means the hood follows all your neck movements and your vision is never compromised, and since the laminate isn’t directly in contact with your head, the air flow and your ability to hear aren’t limited.

The hood is made out of a very light weight, waterproof 3 layer micro-grid laminate which makes it a perfect emergency hood when caught outdoors in rainy weather. And when you don’t need it, the hood can easily be stowed away into the collar.

chest-pockets-access

The jacket offers 8 pockets in total so it is easy to store most of your “everyday carry” gear in it. All pockets are highly functional and easy accessible; the big chest pockets can be accessed from two sides. So if for instance you only have your right hand free, you can still easily access the left chest pocket.

The 4 arm pockets are perfect for stowing away your smaller stuff, which you may need to access quickly. They are also mesh lined, so in case it gets too hot you can open them and use them for additional mechanical venting, and the larger two inner pockets can be used to store your valuable stuff like your wallet, or bulkier gear, like gloves.

airpac-insert

Finally, for better wear comfort while carrying a backpack and in order to avoid so called “thermal bridges“ between your skin and the outside material, the Delta Eagle has integrated air/pac® inserts in the shoulder area.

If you’re updating your clothing system this year then the Delta Eagle Gen.2 softshell jacket should be high on the list of your priorities.

Introducing New A-TACS LE-X

October 6th, 2016

Last year A-TACS Camo introduced its A-TACS iX (Intermediate Xtreme) pattern as the central pattern in their “X” camo lineup. Later, they followed with the introduction of A-TACS AT-X, (Arctic Tundra Xtreme) which was quickly adopted by the Norwegian Special Forces. Now Digital Concealment Systems is releasing a new and enhanced version of their original Law Enforcement Pattern called A-TACS LE-X (Law Enforcement Xtreme).

Like the original A-TACS LE pattern, the new LE-X variant was developed primarily for use by Urban and Metropolitan SRT teams conducting low-light operations. The pattern is also suited to a wide range of other tactical military and law enforcement applications.

The Black, blue and grey coloration in A-TACS LE-X also works well with the black nylon gear utilized by many SRT personnel, which allows for easier integration into service.

In the coming weeks and months, new A-TACS LE-X will be introduced on a wide range of uniform and nylon gear options by a CORE group of A-TACS Camo brand partners including TRU-SPEC, Tactical Tailor, OPS Gear, Tactical Performance Corp. and others. Press releases and availability dates on specific product offerings will be forthcoming. For additional information, contact A-TACS Camo by e-mail at: info@a-tacs.com

KDH Defense Systems Chooses Honeywell Materials For Products Designed For US Military Protection System

October 5th, 2016

Spectra Shield® and Gold Shield® help military achieve goals for reducing soldiers’ body armor weight

MORRIS PLAINS, N.J., Oct. 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Honeywell (NYSE: HON) announced today that KDH Defense Systems will use Spectra Shield® and Gold Shield® ballistic composite materials to create new soft armor vest systems as part of the U.S. Army’s next-generation Soldier Protection System (SPS).

Reducing body armor weight is a key goal for the Army. The SPS is a modular, scalable and tailorable system designed to provide an overall weight reduction of 10 percent. It is comprised of five subsystems, one of which is the Torso and Extremity Protection (TEP) subsystem that aims to achieve a 26 percent weight reduction. KDH Defense Systems will incorporate Spectra Shield and Gold Shield with its own ballistic designs to produce several TEP products.

“The key to reducing body armor weight is combining state-of-the-art ballistic designs like KDH Modular Scalable Vests with next-generation materials like Honeywell Shield,” said Dave Herbener, president and CEO, KDH Defense Systems. “We are committed to leveraging the most innovative technologies to help protect the brave men and women serving in the U.S. military.”

Short Bark Industries is also using Spectra Shield to create Ballistic Combat Shirts (BCS) for the SPS TEP system. The company specializes in soft armor, tactical wear, gear and accessories for the military, governmental agencies and law enforcement.

“Honeywell Spectra Shield is a key material to create armor that meets the military’s rigorous requirements for weight, mobility, flexibility and protection,” said Lisa Held Janke, president and CEO, Short Bark Industries, LLC. “Our team works tirelessly to develop solutions that help protect soldiers from the ballistic threats they face in combat.”

Armor made with Honeywell’s Spectra Shield and Gold Shield products were chosen by soldiers after a U.S. Military Human Factors Evaluation. These armor systems demonstrated improved mobility and flexibility, in addition to reduced weight, compared to systems predominantly made with woven aramid.

“The next generation of soft body armor uses Spectra fiber instead of aramid fiber for optimal performance and protection,” said Lin Murray, armor program manager for military and law enforcement at Honeywell Packaging and Composites. “Our collaboration with innovative companies like KDH Defense Systems and Short Bark Industries ensures that the U.S. military and law enforcement have the most advanced ballistic protection available.”

Spectra Shield technology is a patented Honeywell process designed to optimize the ballistic performance characteristics of Spectra fibers. Spectra Shield and Gold Shield products have been widely adopted and proven for the most advanced armor applications globally, from bullet-resistant vests, breast plates and helmets to combat vehicles and military aircraft—all of which require lightweight solutions and superior performance.

Honeywell maintains an active Spectra fiber and ballistic materials research program focused on continuous improvement and development of high-performance materials. For more information, visit www.honeywell-spectra.com.
