American Independence Day – The Original Brexit

July 4th, 2016

By the time the politicians had finally gotten their act together on July 4th, 1776, colonists had already been in open rebellion against the British crown for well over a year. And consider this; a very small percentage of colonists took up arms and actively resisted the occupying British forces. The rest sat around wringing their hands, worried about the uncertainty of Liberty. But Providence guided those brave souls who made us a Nation, and I will be forever grateful for their vision, determination, and sacrifice.

Time and time again, we find the acts of free men don’t always require a stamp of approval. And time and time again, free men say, “Enough!”

Grunt Style is 100 US Veteran and Patriot strong lifestyle apparel company whose mission is to deliver the highest quality, most Patriotic apparel on the planet straight to your front door.

Joe served in the US Army from 1990 to 2011 as an enlisted Infantryman, Ranger, Cavalry Scout and Infantry Officer.  Joe was severely wounded in Iraq in 2009.  As a result, he spent two years in hospitals for his second TBI, several surgeries for his legs, feet, a spinal injury and vestibular paresis.   With the help of his doctors and therapists they were able to train and calibrate a Bioness System that allows him to climb obstacles, hills and walk and traverse mountain trails and of course, shoot better than ever.

Joe is currently in 13th Place for the Tactical Division in PRS.  “Representing Grunt Style and being part of their Awesome Team is an incredible Honor!  When I received the call it was like Colonel Trautman telling John Rambo he had a mission for him. I look forward to representing the veteran community and the Grunt Style brand.”

Tim Jensen, COO of Grunt Style said of Joe, “Joe is one of the most genuine people that you could ever meet.  We’re happy to be partnered with him and show everyone what our veteran community is capable of together. ”

Joe is proud to announce that his earnings from Grunt Style will be donated to Tacoma, WA based non-profit, “Liz Rocks.”

The mission of Liz Rocks is to create a state of the art outdoor rock climbing/bouldering wall at Point Defiance Park, Tacoma, Washington in honor of Liz Daley.

Liz Daley was a Tacoma, WA native and a Western Washington University Alumnus.  Liz was killed in avalanche in Argentina in 2014 while working as a professional climber and guide for Eddie Bauer.  A memorial project was established in her name in 2015 to provide a safe environment to introduce a whole new crowd to rock climbing/bouldering.

Krystle Edwards, Executive Director of Liz Rocks said, “Some of the biggest and most unlikely supporters of the Liz Rocks Campaign have been the Ranger Veteran community, especially people like Joe.  We are super stoked to have the opportunity to continue to bridge gaps in our community and provide a place that offers a sense of adventure to everyone.”

Gunfighter Moment – Pat McNamara

July 2nd, 2016

As part of range training, we usually and responsibly conduct a range safety briefing. We all know that there are four rules of gun handling. I use ‘Gun Handling’ versus ‘Rules of the Range’ as a method to subliminally manipulate the recipient. One is tactical and one is administrative. The tactical rules will appease the administrative requirements of the range.

Understanding that semantics are involved, my number one rule of ‘Gun handling’ is; “You, the individual shooter, must understand the status of your weapon system.” In a gun fight, the weapon does not belong only to you but to the person you are protecting or the guy who’s ‘Six’ you are covering. If your shit isn’t up and running, you are not only fucking yourself but the one you are protecting or the guy who’s ‘Six’ you are covering. I do not like “All guns are always loaded.”

The same can be applied to the human weapon. Know the status of your personal condition. If you can’t save someone else’s life, or can’t keep up with your partner during a foot chase, you are screwing that guy, that kid, your loved one. That life may depend on whether or not you can keep up to insure he isn’t getting his head kicked in in a dark alley.

You do not have to be an absolute stallion, but you should do your part to ensure that you have put in the effort to make ‘you’ a better ‘you’. Make incremental gains every day. The math is simple. Ask yourself, “If I cloned myself yesterday, can I kick my clone’s ass tomorrow?”

Patrick McNamara
SGM, US Army (Ret)

Pat McNamara

Patrick McNamara spent twenty-two years in the United States Army in a myriad of special operations units. When he worked in the premier Special Missions Unit, he became an impeccable marksman, shooting with accurate, lethal results and tactical effectiveness. McNamara has trained tactical applications of shooting to people of all levels of marksmanship, from varsity level soldiers, and police officers who work the streets to civilians with little to no time behind the trigger.

His military experience quickly taught him that there is more to tactical marksmanship than merely squeezing the trigger. Utilizing his years of experience, McNamara developed a training methodology that is safe, effective and combat relevant and encourages a continuous thought process. This methodology teaches how to maintain safety at all times and choose targets that force accountability, as well as provides courses covering several categories, including individual, collective, on line and standards.

While serving as his Unit’s Marksmanship NCO, he developed his own marksmanship club with NRA, CMP, and USPSA affiliations. Mac ran monthly IPSC matches and ran semi annual military marksmanship championships to encourage marksmanship fundamentals and competitiveness throughout the Army.He retired from the Army’s premier hostage rescue unit as a Sergeant Major and is the author of T.A.P.S. (Tactical Application of Practical Shooting). He also served as the Principle of TMACS Inc.
