The Titanium Executive Hoolie is a designed as a small, lightweight pry bar for gaining entry to inward or outward opening doors, without having to wait for larger manual tools. It’s machined out of 6AL4V Titanium, giving it nonmagnetic and non-corrosive properties, and has a Cerakote, sand colored coating for non-reflective camouflage. The working ends are terraced, providing a better nonslip surface. The side grips are contoured for a non-slip grip in even the wettest of conditions. Its size allows it retention within 1 channel of PALS webbing.

Its design allows it to be carried in several ways in the pocket with the integral clip, slid into and retention with 1 channel of PALS, or added onto a lanyard.

Constructed from MilSpec 4150 chrome vanadium steel, the Puritan barrel features a 5R rifling profile with a 1:8 twist rate and the patented E² dual extraction technology. The barrel is also nitride head treated, increasing surface hardness and offering a black and corrosion resistant finish.

Constructed of NyCo ripstop, the Range Shorts features a double layer reinforced seat, bar-tacked stress points, and a contoured, Velcro cinching waistband with 7 belt loops. There are a total of 8 pockets on the Range Shorts: 2 hip pockets, 2 rear pockets, 2 side pockets, and 2 cargo pockets. Once again, the Friday Focus serves to introduce one of FirstSpear’s OEM partners. This time, it’s San Diego, California-based Phokus Research Group.

Why/How was Phokus Research Group started?

Founded in 2008. Phokus Research Group identified a need for Military Inventor Support. Our mission is to find Inventors for the purpose of protecting, developing and commercializing their innovations.

How did the relationship between FS and Phokus begin?

Turns out team members from both companies share similar backgrounds. Dave Kent of FirstSpear offered to design our first pouch at SOMA in 2013. His efforts have made the biggest impact on this partnership.

Why did you ultimately choose FS?

FirstSpear has always been a solid company within the industry. Innovative approaches to nylon, quality craftsmanship, and professionalism as a company is why we use FirstSpear.

What drove development of the war fighter bundle?

Our customers requested a system that allowed Trauma Kits to be carried in any situation. Today’s warfighters are called upon to serve in various capacities. Whether on the FOB, assigned to a security detail, or on patrol, the Warfighter Bundle ensures your medical gear is always at the ready. Anything new coming up between Phokus and FS?

Our newest collaboration with FirstSpear is currently in design. Should be ready for release in July-Aug 2015.

Darley Defense Days – Black Diamond Assault Pack

Black Diamond is known for the APEx Predator wearable C3 system, however they also offer an Assault Pack optimized to carry the AN/PRC 117G radio.

The Assault Pack is optimized for the APEx Predator system. The top of the pack features improved lengthened antenna ports, with multiple Velcro flaps, allowing for greater flexibility in antenna placement. The main compartment features dual side stash flaps for cable management, and two buckled radio retention straps sewn into the pack. The main compartment also features a zippered bottom opening for radio battery changes.

The exterior features a cable management pocket for the Tactical Mission Controller, which feeds directly into the main compartment. An integrated zippered hydration compartment is housed behind the back pad. Dual side ports allow for additional cable routing options. The Assault Pack also comes with an external tablet pouch.

The Black Diamond Assault pack is available in Coyote and MultiCam.
