FirstSpear Friday Focus – VEP Modular Panel

June 19th, 2015

This week’s focus is on the new VEP Modular Panel. Inspired by the success of the Vertical Envelopment Pack, FirstSpear is now offering this modular panel for custom user configuration for loads which require quick access.

Driven by specific User requirements this item offers many of the advantages of the FS Vertical Envelopment Pack (VEP) on a reinforced modular panel that accepts 6/12, 6/9 and MOLLE Pockets arranged any way that suits the mission at hand. Capable of attaching technical tools, communications equipment or specific medical supplies this panel can be flipped over the head for rapid access and then returned to the back with its slick side out presenting a minimal snag profile. When secured on the back all your magazines and other fire load are easily available. The VEP Modular Panel is a great asset to personnel operating SIGINT and related communications gear that need to remain mobile and close to the Operators who are prosecuting the information.

It works just like the Vertical Envelopment Pack. This video gives a good overview of how the VEP is used.

Available in all standard FS Colors.

Kryptek Camo Spotted In Jurassic World

June 18th, 2015

It you haven’t seen Jurassic World yet, I suggest do. It’s a fun movie. You may just spot a few cool bits of kit.

Kryptek 1

InGen’s Asset Containment Unit of the recently released Jurassic World can be spotted wearing Kryptek pattern Vertx clothing. And through the pattern in the photos may look like Kryptek Typhon, it’s not!

Kryptek 2

As it turns out, Kryptek Typhon was too dark for the needs of the production crew, which is why a team of agers and dyers took Kryptek Mandrake pattern clothing instead and over-dyed it to look very close to Typhon. These teams also handle the tracking and replication of wear, tear, and battle damage to clothing.

Thanks to ‘MK’ for the tip!

Security Devices International To Attend The 75th National Sheriffs’ Association Annual Conference And Exhibition

June 18th, 2015

Security Devices International (SDI) will be present at the 75th National Sheriffs’ Association (NSA) Annual Conference and Exhibition in Baltimore, MD. They will be at Booth 1049 displaying their line of 40mm less-lethal munitions technologies including the Blunt Impact Projectile (BIP), which has an effective operational range of 2 to 80 yards; the cushioning gel-head mechanism built into the BIP allows it to be used in close range situations, and its aerodynamic characteristics allow it to be used with improved accuracy over longer distances.

SDI Vice-President Allen Ezer will be in attendance, along with SDI’s 40mm Specialists Ross Botha and Gunner Couce. If you’re attending the show, stop by their booth to learn more about SDI’s product line.

This year’s NSA exhibition is taking place in Baltimore, Maryland. (Monday, June 29th 9:00 am – 3:00 pm and on Tuesday, June 30th 9:00 am – 3:00 pm)
