Velocity Systems – BOSS Rugby And Range Shorts Color Comparision

December 31st, 2014

Yesterday, I drove to the Velocity Systems factory to pick up samples of the new Range Shorts and the MultiCam BOSS Rugby. While we were there, I also happened to purchase the Tan BOSS and Range Shorts for one of my kids.

Due to popular demand, we took a photo for a color comparison between the Earth Tan BOSS Rugby and Tan Range Shorts. As you can see, the BOSS Rugby is closer to the Sand color for current issue Army T-shirts, while the range shorts are closer to a traditional Khaki. This Tan turned out great and I really like the color.

The BOSS Rugby has long been my go-to range shirt and these new shorts are awesome. I had a pair of an earlier version and they’ve really dialed the design in. Designed with a customer from the ground up for range use, the pocket configuration is well laid out.

SJK Hunting Introduces New Products For 2015 Line

December 31st, 2014

SJK Hunting – After successful first season we have a new year in our sights

Partnering with camouflage supplier Kryptek, SJK Hunting is creating and designing hunt-specific packs, blinds and treestand cloaks

BOULDER, COLO. (For Immediate Release) – Big game hunters are raving about the new SJK packs! Slumberjack, now referred to as SJK, has sighted in on the hunting market and is continuing to emerge as a durable, quality driven hunting pack brand. Relaunched in the spring of 2014, they now offer a complete line of Kryptek camouflage patterned packs and tree stand bags specifically designed to give hunters an edge on any hunt.

The fall 2015 SJK hunting line introduces a new light weight blind, a new Kryptek Mandrake camo, and updates to the Thermal Cloak. These new hunting products combine lightweight materials, durable construction, cutting edge Kryptek camouflage, and an extensive amount of input from our professional hunting partners, to create the most advanced hunting equipment available.

“Following the successful launch of our tactical hunting line, we are developing and introducing a greater range of new products to fit the emerging tactical hunter,” said Russell Rowell VP of SJK Hunting. “The hunting community is rapidly evolving and SJK will continue to develop innovative, cutting edge hunting equipment to meet and lead this trend.”

The SJK Hunting line now includes 9 packs, ranging in size from the Bounty 4500, a fully-featured mountain hunting pack to the Spoor and Strider which are designed for everyday use. The all new Strider ($129) is a 26-liter pack featuring four exterior pockets which allow you to organize for a day at the treestand or for your day to day activities. The pack also features a new compression carry system, which allows users to carry items in many different configurations, and a built-in rifle shooting platform to help stabilize the shot. The pack line will now be available in Kryptek Mandrake camo, to appeal to the hunters in various vegetation’s and seasons.

This year we are introducing the new patented SJK Arctic Cloak, a warmer version of the popular Thermal Cloak tree stand bag, in Kryptek Highlander ($259) and in Blaze Orange. The cloak guarantees all-day warmth and comfort for those cold, wet, stoic hours on the hunt. The tactical hood’s wide peripheral shape allows for better viewing and hearing so you can see and hear approaching game. Quiet, weather-ready fabrics repel wind, rain, and snow while 300g of synthetic insulation keeps you warm all day. The foot of the bag is long enough to cover boots yet open, allowing you to feel the edges of your tree stand to ensure proper footing. Large, self-sealing (via magnets) arm ports allow you to silently move into bow or rifle shooting position.

Mayflower RC – Multi-Purpose Patrol Vest

December 31st, 2014

MPPV 2

Mayflower’s Multi-Purpose Patrol Vest (MPPV) is designed for patrolling situations where armor isn’t required. Resembling a hybrid of a chest rig and older-style LBV, the MPPV features a front center zip for ease of doffing and donning and a mesh back panel sized for up to a 3-liter water bladder. I realize that chest rigs and vest-style yokes have been combined before so don’t bore me with commenting with a long list of other examples.

The MPPV is fully adjustable via ITW G-hooks and shock cord. The MPPV has 4 integrated magazine pouches sized to fit up to eight 5.56 magazines or four 7.62×51 mags; two of these pouches feature small frontward GP pockets sized for small items such as a compass or GPS (great for patrolling!). The side GP pouches are sized to carry 32oz Nalgene bottles or smaller items, and feature PALS webbing on the front and sides for additional pouches and other PALS-compatible accessories. Also included on the harness and back panel of the MPPV is an abundance of one-wrap Velcro for cable management.

The MPPV uses ULTRAcomp laminate extensively throughout the vest to decrease weight and increase durability. This also helps mitigate water absorption in wet weather.

The Multi-Purpose Patrol Vest is available now in MultiCam and Coyote Brown.
