New Bushnell Bone Collector Laser Rangefinders Now Shipping

August 25th, 2023

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – August 23, 2023 – Bushnell®, an industry leader in performance optics, is now shipping new laser rangefinder models right in time for deer season: the Bone Collector 1000 and Bone Collector 1800.

Designed in conjunction with Bone Collector’s Michael Waddell, Nick Mundt and Travis “T-Bone” Turner to meet their specifications and rigorous hunting demands, the newly available rangefinders feature everything hardcore hunters would expect and more. The new Bone Collector 1000 and 1800 rangefinders feature a sharp and bold new look while building off Bushnell’s 25 years of rangefinder legacy.

“Bushnell knocked it out of the park on these,” said Waddell. “We worked closely with the Bushnell team to make sure these latest and greatest Bone Collector rangefinders kept all the best features the crew loves from previous models, but also longer ranges and new tools like Applied Ballistics.”

The Bone Collector 1000 features a fully multi-coated, all-glass optical system that’s 2x brighter than other laser rangefinders for dim conditions at dawn and dusk. The rangefinder allows for quick measurements with the fast-focus eyepiece and Scan Mode, plus ARC technology and long distance ranging to 1,000 yards with +/- 1-yard accuracy. The 1000 series model is also standard with a one-button design for easy operation along with a new, ergonomic housing for added stability and comfort.

The Bone Collector 1800 builds on the features of the 1000 by not only extending its ranging capability (1,800 yards with +/- 1-yard accuracy) but also including a built-in Applied Ballistics Ultralight engine. The onboard ballistic software offers shooting solutions out to 800 yards and is easy to setup through the Bushnell Ballistic App powered by Bluetooth capabilities. The Bone Collector 1800 also features Brush and Bullseye modes for the most accurate readings possible.

Both the Bone Collector 1000 (MSRP $149.99) and Bone Collector 1800 (MSRP $199.99) come with Bushnell’s 5-year Lifetime Ironclad Warranty for peace of mind. To learn more or to see Bushnell’s full lineup of laser rangefinders and optics, check out Bushnell.com.

Air Force Releases New Memo, Doctrine on Mission Command

August 25th, 2023

ARLINGTON, Va. (AFNS) —

The Air Force recently released two documents on mission command.

On Aug. 16, Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. CQ Brown, Jr. released a memo that elaborates on the operationalization of mission command and its application to the Air Force Future Operating Concept, Agile Combat Employment and the daily mission accomplishment of Airmen at all levels.

In addition, Brown signed Air Force Doctrine Publication 1-1, Mission Command, which illustrates the mission command framework of centralized command, distributed control, and decentralized execution. It also introduces the “Five Cs” of mission command — character, competence, capability, cohesion, and capacity — which are the individual and organizational attributes needed to implement mission command.

In 2021, Air Force Doctrine Publication-1: The Air Force was revised to orient the Air Force for strategic competition and reflect the service’s strategic approach, Accelerate Change or Lose. AFDP-1 acknowledges that Airmen will operate in environments characterized by increasing uncertainty, complexity and rapid change, and establishes mission command as the Air Force’s approach to command and control of airpower. AFPD 1-1 provides additional guidance on the application of mission command.

The release of these two additional documents reinforces the service’s return to a philosophy of mission accomplishment that empowers subordinate decision-making guided by commander’s intent.

Conceptualized by “AT” Ambrosia Terrebonne (moniker), Subject Matter Enthusiast, the Simple Jack AR rifle is a solution that brings real-world, affordable enhancements in a complete package to the SOLGW signature lineup.

“Picking out components to build a rifle ready for use can be overwhelming. I wanted to see a platform that focused on solving the “paralysis of analysis” of what to choose when you are unsure if your needs and capabilities will change in the future.

My thoughts were this: Why pay for components you may not need when you could put that money towards actual life-support items, for example, an optic, light, and sling? The Simple Jack does this as a platform that can accept your modifications as your needs and capabilities change.”
