Massif

Tuesday, January 19th, 2016

Massif has several new items this season and everything is available now.

First up is the Altitude Jacket and Pant. Made from SABA, a nonmembrane softshell. It’s an FR softshell for Infantry that is highly breathable intended for 3-season use due that incorporates DWR. You can move in it and not build up sweat. Plus, it’s the quietest fabric in Massif’s lineup. Think Level 3, action suit. They’ve slimmed the fit down a little and it’s meant to be worn by itself or with under layers. You’ll notice some common DNA in the Jacket’s layout but the Pant is something completely new. Look for zippered slash front Alpine pockets as well as low profile internal cargo pockets with Velcro closure. Rear pockets also close with Velcro.

Next up is the Rainier Winter Combat Shirt. It’s a hybrid design, crafted from Battleshied in the upper torso and arms for climate control which is an exclusive Gore FR stretch fabric for Massif. This is combined with FR SABA fabric in the torso for breathability. It’s a classic FR Combat Shirt design with a 1/4 zip front.

The Caldera is an FR Wind Shirt. It’s made from two fabrics. SABA on the upper torso and sleeves and a new fabric called BattleSkin on the torso. It’s a plaited fabric which means it’s a single layer fabric, knitted with a nylon face and a Nomex modacrylic on the back. This also means it’s very breathable and dries really fast. The Caldera boasts a walk dry time of 22 minutes which beats the pants off of the current mil-spec of 60 minutes.

Caveat Emptor – Counterfeit FREE Jackets

counterfeit on left (Small)

We take the subject of counterfeit equipment making its way into the supply chain very seriously.  When we found out counterfeit Massif FR garments had started popping up, we knew we needed to put the word out.

Like most counterfeits they are pretty good and will fool you at first glance.  These garments were manufactured and labeled to appear to be authentic Massif Flame Resistant clothing, but they are not.  So far, we haven’t seen any show up on the backs of service members and we want to see it stay that way because these garments are likely NOT FLAME RESISTANT.  That could end up being a real tragedy.

We’ve received this alert from Massif.

We are concerned for the safety of our soldiers and want to spread the word.

Any Massif branded jacket or trouser labeled with content “65% Polyester 35% Cotton” is NOT a Massif FREE garment. This is a counterfeit.

Visit www.massif.com/news for photos of the counterfeit label.

In addition, if any Massif garment does NOT include a Garment ID#, please contact Massif so we can investigate accordingly.

Massif takes pride in the protective nature of our garments. We control all flame resistant inventory carefully and can assure you the counterfeit garments did not come from within our Supply Chain.

We warrant and guarantee Massif gear purchased directly or through authorized dealers (www.massif.com/about/authorized-dealers)

If you need FR protection, don’t try to save a buck and cut corners by buying it from an unauthorized source. If a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Warrior West – Massif

Thursday, April 30th, 2015

We recently wrote about the new Army Combat Shirt – Type II created specifically for use with the Soldier Plate Carrier System.  Many readers seemed displeased with that Army directed design and mentioned several attributes they’d like to see in an improved design.  Massif is already one step ahead of you with their new Advanced 1/4 Zip Combat Shirt (FR).

This commercially available FR combat shirt incorporates a 1/4 zip polo style collar along with increased printed FR fabric that extends down the aide of the garment to increase camouflage. Additionally, the SuperFabric elbows will accept padding.

Offered in Black, OD and MultiCam sizes XS – XXXL.

Army Combat Shirt Type II

Thursday, April 23rd, 2015

The US Army is fielding an updated version of the Army Combat Shirt called the Type II (still in OEF-CP). The ACS Type II has a narrower torso to accommodate the SPC which requires the shirt to offer more camo coverage on the yoke, chest, and sides. Massif is selling an ACS Type II, with slight fit modifications, but the same camo/solid configuration as the Army’s. As you can see it also incorporates a zippered, polo-style collar.

Massif Sponsors Best Ranger Competition

Wednesday, April 8th, 2015

It’s great to see our friends at Massif pitching in.

The Best Ranger Competition at Fort Benning has a tremendous legacy, and Massif is proud to debut their support as a Silver Sponsor of the 32nd annual event. Most rangers are familiar with our Army Combat Shirts, but we’re hoping the 20 units of our CoolKnit T-Shirts will help keep the rangers cool and dry when the action heats up.    he Best Ranger Competition rewards teamwork. Massif is honored to be a part of that team, helping the armed forces stay safe and comfortable in the competition, on the battlefield, and beyond.
