Applied Fiber Concepts and Propper International Awarded New US Navy Body Armor Contract

Tuesday, April 10th, 2018

St. Charles, MO – Applied Fiber Concepts, Inc. and Propper International have been awarded a contract to manufacture the new Naval Security Forces Vest (NSFV) for the United States Navy.

The NSFV, which was awarded through a solicitation from the Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) for a new ballistic vest designed to protect sailors, consists of a base vest and modular components for tailoring protection levels to defeat multiple ballistic and fragmentation hazards while performing security and Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) duties.

“We’re proud to partner with Applied Fiber Concepts, one of the industry’s most innovative ballistic protection providers,” said Anderson Ward, Senior VP, Global Supply Chain Operations for Propper. “The sailors who wear this armor can perform their missions with confidence.”

Michael Haynes, VP of Business Development for Applied Fiber Concepts, echoed that sentiment. “Providing advanced ballistic protection that can be configured to best fit the mission will allow the brave men and women responsible for keeping us safe to focus on their jobs and feel confident that they are protected.”

Applied Fiber Concepts will produce all the Level IIIA ballistic inserts, yoke, and collar assemblies and Propper will manufacture the outer carriers for the one-year contract that has an option for up to four additional years. All the ballistic material included in the NSFV is fully NIJ-certified and tested to perform up to NIJ 0101.06 standards, the highest standard for ballistic protection. Total contract production is projected to reach over 51,000 units.

Propper Donates Portion of Memorial Day Week Proceeds to USO of Missouri

Thursday, June 8th, 2017

St. Charles, MO — Missouri-based Propper International teamed up with the USO of Missouri to donate a portion of online sales totaling $7,452 in honor of Memorial Day and to further the USO’s mission to “strengthen America’s military service members by keeping them connected to family, home and country, throughout their service to the nation.”

“Propper has supported our fighting men and women for 50 years,” said John Negrau, VP, Marketing & eCommerce for Propper. “Our military heritage is a perfect complement to the USO’s mission and purpose. It made sense that we should honor our fallen troops by supporting current active duty personnel.”

“We are a Missouri-based company,” Negrau continued, “so donating to the USO of Missouri was a logical choice.”

Each state’s USO branches operate independently and rely on local support. “The USO is not a government organization and does not receive government funding,” said Christine Trotter, Development Director for USO of Missouri. “Instead, we count on companies and private individuals to help support our operations. Propper’s overwhelming generosity has been incredible.”

New Spec ACUs in MultiCam and UCP Available from Propper International

Monday, October 17th, 2016

Propper International has been a prime government contractor for decades, supplying clothing and individual equipment. They have just released the new ACU cut, for commercial sale in MultiCam and Universal Camouflage Pattern.

For those of you unfamiliar with the new cut, concurrent with the release of the Operational Camouflage Pattern, the service made some changes to the design of the Army Camouflage Uniform.

Coat

– Mandarin collar has been replaced with a fold down collar design
– Upper sleeve pocket hook and loop flap closure replaced with a zipper
– Pocket lengthened by one inch
– Elbow patch pad removed and hook and loop for patches removed, but double fabric reinforcement has been retained
– Sleeve pen pocket reduced from three pen channels to two

Trousers

– Drawstring removed from waistband
– Cord and barrel removed from cargo pocket and replaced with button closure
– Knee patch pad removed and hook and loop for patches removed, but double fabric reinforcement has been retained
– Hook and loop on lower leg pocket flap replaced with button closure

For many, the MultiCam pattern is welcome, considering it outperforms the Army’s OCP. However, many of you may be scratching your heads over the UCP offering. This is because some organizations outside of the Army, continue to use the pattern.

The uniforms are available in 50/50 NYCO or Battle Rip 65/35 PolyCotton in MultiCam and 50/50 NYCO in UCP.

Tuesday, September 6th, 2016

Adds to Long List of Department of Defense Honors

St. Charles, MO — For the second year in a row, Propper International has received the prestigious silver level Superior Supplier Award from the Defense Logistics Agency for their high level participation in the Department of Defense’s Superior Supplier Incentive Program during fiscal year 2015. The SSIP is an extension of the Department of Defense’s Better Buying Power initiative and is designed to incentivize contractor performance by identifying suppliers with the highest rankings in areas such as performance, quality, and business relations.

“This program allows DLA to spotlight those companies that consistently perform well and deliver high quality products to our warfighters – they should be proud of this distinction,” said Matthew Beebe, head of DLA’s acquisition directorate. “We also hope it serves as a reminder to both industry and government personnel of the importance of having ongoing, open and honest dialogue about contractor performance.”

Winners of the award are chosen from the top parts and commodity suppliers that consistently perform well and deliver “a proven record of performance, as well as an established rating in the federal Contractor Performance Assessment Reporting System,” according to the DLA.

Gabriella Graves, Propper’s VP of Supply Chain Operation, commented, “This is a great honor for Propper. We have been supplying the men and women of the armed forced with uniforms and accessories since 1967 and have always maintained a high standard of compliance with Department of Defense standards. It’s nice to be in the company of other great suppliers.”

This is the seventh award Propper has received for Department of Defense procurement. Other awards include:

2014 – DLA Silver Supplier
2011 – Employer Partnership of the Armed Forces
2011 – DOD Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve
