What To Do During An In Progress Active Shooter Crisis
As active shooter situations are generally over within 5-15 minutes and often before the arrival of law enforcement officers, individuals must be prepared both physically and mentally to deal with an in progress active shooter situation.
Active shooter incidents are unpredictable and generally evolve quickly: Typically, the immediate deployment of law enforcement is required to stop the shooting and
mitigate the threat. However, many active shooter situations have been stopped by armed citizens or those that are prepared to intervene to stop the threat.
SEMINAR COVERS THE FOLLOWING TOPICS
• Response procedures following our ESCAPE methodology.
• Mindset and mental toughness.
• Profile of an active shooter.
• Fear response and dealing with combat stress.
• Human combative behaviors and rapid threat recognition.
• Responsibilities of managers and staff during an active
shooter crisis.
• What to do when the shooter is in your vicinity.
• Room hardening procedures and how to barricade.
• Procedures to disrupt or incapacitate the shooter.
• How to respond when Law Enforcement and first responders arrive.
• Evacuation procedures and what you can do to assist.
• Casualty care and life saving techniques.
WHAT IS AN ACTIVE SHOOTER?
The National Tactical Officer’s Association (NTOA) defines active shooter as… “one or more subjects who participate in a random or systematic shooting spree, demonstrating their intent to continuously harm others. An active shooter’s overriding objective appears to be that of mass murder, rather than criminal conduct such as robbery kidnapping, etc.”
DON’T BE A VICTIM
This seminar explains in detail the appropriate response protocol that should be used during an in progress active shooter crisis in the workplace.
Here’s a sneak peak of Red Back One’s new high mount for the Aimpoint Micro, designed and developed by Jason Falla and manufactured by Knight’s Armament Company.
This is a list of features that drove the somewhat unique design of this mount:
1. It is ideal for maintaining a more natural head up shooting position which maximizes speed of sight acquisition and minimizes the effects of eye strain and sternocleidomastoid fatigue.
2. It allows increased performance when using CBRNE equipment and gas masks with the ability to adopt a natural cheek weld for shooting.
3. It is perfect when integrating passive targeting methods with night vision goggles when operating on modern battlefields.
4. It weighs significantly less when of other optics mounting systems due to its design and materials.
5. It will accept a magnifier or NVD behind the combat optic for longer range shooting and scanning.
6. Unlike legacy systems RBO’s mount will allow the end user to utilize the BUIS as a redundant system without the need to remove the mount.
RedBack One has a resupply on their SOFIFAK which is specially packed by North American Rescue with contents selected specifically by Jason Falla, former Special Operations Assaulter, Team Medic and TCCC Instructor an LBT 9022B-T pouch.
T. Rex Arms is introducing a new Kydex holster developed in conjunction with Jason Falla of Redback One.
Initially, it will be offered for GLOCKs and will accommodate common Red Dot Sights such as the Aimpoint T1 in this photo. Falla also worked with them to develop a new swivel belt hanger.
The Redback One Individual Protection Drill (IPD) was designed by Jason quite some time go.
The IPD was designed to provide inherent protection to a singleton operating alone or when operating as a member of a tactical team. Also, according to RB1, the “IPD provides organic protection to the operator in order for the operator to determine the type of stoppage on the carbine and select the best course of action.”
The new Redback One Tee “Always In Battery” was designed by Steve St-Louis of Webtechgear. It is printed on a 5.11 Tactical Utili-T™ which they selected for its comfort, durability and breathability.
Redback One is in the final stages of a collaborative effort with North American Rescue to bring you the Redback One IFAK. The kits will be sold separately or together with the RB1 Elite Series IFAK pouch.
The RB1 Elite Series IFAK pouch is a slightly modified version of the SORD CFA Small Medical Pouch which Jason Falla helped develop in the first place.
