Popular Shift 360 Plate Rack System now available with expanded options

Jacksonville, Fla. – Safariland, a recognized leader in the tactical armor market, today announced the release of the PROTECH® Tactical Shift 360™ Scalable Plate Rack System as its first platform to encompass the FirstSpear® Tubes™ closure system.

Utilizing advanced technologies from industry-leading armor brands, PROTECH Tactical and FirstSpear, the Shift 360 plate rack is a high-speed carrier system representing PROTECH Tactical’s fastest and most dynamic scalable plate rack offering. The system starts as a basic plate rack carrier with the ability to transition into a fully loaded tactical system for a multitude of mission specifications.

FirstSpear Tubes modernize the armor carrier closure system, enhancing the ease of donning and doffing the Shift 360 carrier with a quick up or down single hand function. The simple motion for attaching or detaching the system capitalizes on the user’s muscle memory, ideal for stressful or high-speed scenarios. This lightweight closure system ensures the cummerbund is always positioned in the same location, which is vital for proper ballistic coverage, and mitigates the risk of misalignment and incorrect attachment.

“The Shift 360 meets the requirements of patrol and tactical law enforcement officers who need to transition from routine activities to high-threat situations in a matter of seconds,” said Director of Tactical Armor Brian Santimauro. “Facing increased occurrences of scenarios evolving into active shooter, hostage or terrorist situations, law enforcement officers can have confidence that the Shift 360 will outfit them for any situation.”

“The Shift 360 system was put to the test with a variety of law enforcement teams, providing PROTECH Tactical with vital feedback to make it one of the most sought after scalable plate racks on the market,” added Santimauro. Beyond the FirstSpear technology, the Shift 360 plate rack incorporates other recently updated design elements, which elevate the functionality of the system, such as a cummerbund attachment, ballistics insertions and reinforced support. The Shift 360 AWS is available with all three closure system options – FirstSpear Tubes, single-point Quick-Release, and Velcro® closure.

“Protective technology is in our name,” said Todd Mackler, vice president of Armor. “This isn’t restricted to the ballistics and hard armor components that are inserted into our carriers. It also pertains to the carriers themselves with efficient designs and detailed components that we test, evaluate and integrate into our systems.”

Safariland introduced a new a-la-carte ordering system for 2016, which allows teams and individual users to configure the Shift 360 plate rack to meet their specific needs, including a full array of ballistic and non-ballistic accessory garments. The PROTECH Tactical Shift 360 is available for ordering with Type II and IIIA ballistic packages, as well as color options based on the load-bearing configuration. Integrated FirstSpear 6/12™ Platform & Pocket Technologies and Traditional Modular Webbing are due out at the end of 2016. It’s being called a ‘game changer’.”

Bellingham, Wash. – Mustang Survival announced today that Team Comanche will wear Mustang Survival’s new range of performance waterproof, breathable outwear at the Rolex Sydney Hobart race beginning December 26, 2015 in Sydney, Australia.

“Mustang Survival has been building leading dry solutions for the military, coast guard and water rescue professionals for decades,” said Jason Leggatt, VP commercial products. “This expertise, along with our access to ultra-premium ingredient technologies like military-grade GORE-TEX fabrics, has allowed us to build what we, and Team Comanche, feel is the world’s driest, toughest performance outerwear.”

A 100 ft. Supermaxi yacht, Comanche, was built with one thing in mind; compete in the world’s great ocean races and break open-ocean racing records. Everything counts in these demanding multi-day races and poor performing gear can rapidly deteriorate the athlete’s advantage. Team Comanche, skippered by Ken Read, will be fully outfitted in Mustang Survival’s new range of outerwear, which includes a dry suit, pro smock, spray smock and salopettes, and base layers.

“Working with Mustang Survival to develop the EP series of ocean racing gear led to what will be the new benchmark for serious sailors. When we put the gear on in our fit trials, we knew we had something special. Testing it over the run up to the race, we were very impressed by the performance of the gear,” said Tony Mutter, watch captain and twice-winner of the Volvo Ocean Race.

In addition to the technical outerwear debuting at Sydney Hobart 2015, Mustang Survival will be releasing additional products in the fall of 2016. These will integrate seamlessly with the EP Ocean Racing Series, including a new Fusion Merino base layer, ocean racing gloves and more. By designing and developing the range together, Mustang Survival engineered what will be the only series of ocean racing products built to work as a system.

Jared Rhind, head of design comments, “By ensuring our products integrate seamlessly with one another through fit, material selection, and function, the result is a sum greater than its parts; a system benefit that no other can offer.”

Mustang Survival’s EP Ocean Racing Series will launch in June 2016 at retailers throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Safariland Group – ABA Debuts New Xtreme Family Of Body Armor Solutions

ABA Debuts New Xtreme Family of Body Armor Solutions

The industry leading product line adds key design features focused on comfort and performance

raw

ONTARIO, Calif. – The Safariland Group, the leader in advanced body armor responsible for nearly two-thirds of all saves over the last three decades, today announced the release of an all-new line of ABA Xtreme body armor solutions for law enforcement. The result of an intensive collaborative effort with best-in-class partners, the new Xtreme ballistic panels deliver a new benchmark for designs combining fit, protection and exceptional value.

Teaming with DuPont Protection Technologies (DuPont), SAATI and TexTech, The Safariland Group armor team designed the Xtreme panels blending fabric using DuPont Kevlar KM2 Plus fibers incorporating a proprietary weaving process co-created with DuPont, along with a proprietary manufacturing material called Core Matrix Technology, creating this breakthrough family of ballistic panels.

The new Xtreme ballistic panels feature gender specific, biomorphic designs that mimic the shape of the body and enhance comfort. The layering and unique blend of materials amplify comfort, keeping the panel light, thin and flexible.

This unique design combination also drives the Xtreme’s outstanding performance. The proprietary weave acts like high tensile webbing that decelerates the bullet. Working in concert with the proprietary weave, the Core Matrix Technology comprised of 3D-fused fibers, acts as a backstop, dampening impact and stopping the bullet. The final layer of DuPont Kevlar disperses the energy and helps diminish trauma.

“When we’re able to design our ballistics packages in a way that allows for greater ease of movement and superior performance, it’s a win. Our ultimate goal is always to keep officers safe, and our engineers work to improve wearability and comfort so the officer can be more effective in the field,” said Todd Mackler, Vice President Armor, for The Safariland Group.

The Xtreme ballistic panels are finished using a thin, heat-sealed thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) membrane to ensure that the panels are protected. These panels are then encased in a soft nylon shell to withstand the elements while enabling enhanced comfort during wear.

Added Mackler, “We build our products so that officers can focus on their job and not think about their armor. We are proud of the almost 2000 officers who are living proof of why we do what we do.”

Visit The Safariland Group website to hear stories of several Safariland Group SAVES who fought the battle and lived to tell the story of their courageous efforts, and take a deeper view into the Xtreme technology that made it possible at www.safariland.com/ballistic-technology.

Available starting this month to all Safariland Group armor customers, the new Xtreme models are offered in threat protection levels II and IIIA and feature male and female structured and female unstructured designs.

Hatch Releases Task Specific Glove Line

Tuesday, August 18th, 2015

Hatch launches a new task specific glove line providing key innovation features for law enforcement and military personnel

ONTARIO, California – Hatch announced today that it has released its new Task Specific glove line, comprised of nine distinctive models with an emphasis on functionality for a variety of specific uses. The five innovative features on each model are the hallmarks of the line, including the Hatch Ergo-Cut™ Floating Thumb and patented Cut-Ring, which are signature innovations of the renowned Hatch brand. The Task Specific line is designed to meet the demands of law enforcement, military, shooting enthusiasts, and industrial uses alike.

“While gloves may not receive top billing in terms of gear attention, their ability to either help or hinder an officer makes a significant difference in the field,” said Scott Carnahan, Vice President, Equipment. “We factored all those subtle nuances into each glove – from how the glove interacts with an officer’s watch, to more complex features like the Ergo-Cut pattern. Every detail matters and we could not be more excited about bringing this line to market.”

Rather than a general-purpose police glove, this new line provides nine task-specific models each designed to address the specific nuances of an officer’s tactic in the field. Additionally, every glove in the line contains Hatch’s Five Points of Innovation:

  • Touchscreen-compatible knuckle to use with electronics in an effort to help keep an officer’s touchscreen uncontaminated from interactions in the field.
  • All-soft compression cuff is lightweight, comfortable and allows the glove to flex around a watch
  • Patented trigger finger Cut-Ring that provides for optional removal of index finger without unraveling the remaining edge of the glove
  • Signature Ergo-Cut Floating Thumb allows the glove to conform to the natural curvature of the hand and offers greater dexterity and freedom of movement than traditional designs
  • The articulated strap offers personalized adjustability as it is angled away from the wrist to accommodate a larger watch
  • The nine new models listed below – ranging from traffic, patrol, and special teams’ task – are available now and range in MSRP, based on model, from $29.99 to $79.99.
