Make Ready Forum

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

It’s not really a new forum, but it is a new look and feel for the popular EOTAC forum as it goes through a rebranding (not EOTAC, just the forum). All of the topics are still there but you will begin to see the breadth of info increase. Not being content with “just” on designing tactical clothing, the founder of EOTAC has a project in the works that Soldier Systems readers will like. More on that to follow soon. But in the mean time, he has re-launched the forum he previously started in preparation for the new project.

See the Paladin Panel Pack at OR Summer Market

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

Have you seen this thing? If not, you need to stop by Paladin’s booth #31017E at this week’s Outdoor Retailer Summer market in Salt Lake City, Utah. Based on S.O. Tech designs, Paladin products are manufactured off-shore in order to mitigate costs for those who don’t require Berry compliance such as the recreational and LE markets. With the Panel Pack they have hit a home run. This pack is awesome. Designed as a modular hanging panel, it can be zipped closed and carried over-the-shoulder, pack-style. In the brochure Paladin gives a couple of ideas on how to configure the Panel Pack but those are just really the tip of the iceberg. In fact, it’s use is only limited by your imagination due to the interchangeable pockets.

Paladin Panel Pack

Feature laden, the Panal Pack has a large external mesh pocket for items like jackets, helmets, fins, etc. as well as an external flat zippered pocket for booklets, medical records, or emergency documents. Additionally, it will accommodate a hydration bladder in the flex mesh external back pocket. There are also external loops for poles and tools as well as a clear vinyl “window pocket” for packing lists or ID.

If you can’t come see it in person, make sure to visit www.specopstech.com.

Big News from Wilson Combat

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

Wilson Combat has just unveiled their latest undertaking; custom ammunition! Bill Wilson has been handloading and sending rounds down range for decades and decided to put everything he’s learned to good use. His philosophy can be summed up below:

“I’ve been reloading ammunition since 1966 and over the years feel like I have become a knowledgeable and experienced handloader. Over the years I have handloaded over a million rounds for my own use plinking, hunting, self-protection and competition shooting. By producing and shooting this volume of ammunition I’ve learned how to develop maximum performance loads for a variety of uses. I’m using this knowledge and experience now to develop high performance loads for the new Wilson Combat line of self-defense and competition ammunition. I think you will find this ammunition to be very accurate, reliable and to deliver Peerless Performance.”

Right after SHOT Show, Galls, a company traditionally considered a Law Enforcement supplier, set in motion a plan to provide equipment and clothing solutions to military and federal agencies. It isn’t that they weren’t already serving these communities, it’s just that they stood up a division dedicated specifically to these clients and to providing the products they need. The result of this effort is Galls Government Ops which offers a variety of procurement options to support organizational purchases. Additionally, you will notice several new brands to Galls including SSD favorites Vertx, Mayflower, and Velocity Systems.
