Magpul iPhone Field Cases Now Shipping

Saturday, January 15th, 2011

One of the hottest products from last year’s SHOT Show is finally shipping; the iPhone Field Case. Magpul handed out prototypes but the fit and materials weren’t quite where they wanted them so they went back to the drawing board. Not only did they improve the prototype 3GS case but also added a special version for the iPhone 4.

Made from the same thermoplastic as the original Magpul loop, both cases feature PMAG-style ribs for added grip, snap-on design for easy installation and removal, and slides easily in and out of pockets. Offered in Black, Flat Dark Earth, and OD Green. The Executive Case is currently only offered in Black. The price on these things is amazing, just $9.95 and that is for a product made in the USA! Kudos to Magpul for building them here and for keeping the price down. Now all we need is a cover for the iPad.

To order visit www.Magpul.com.

Don’t forget to check Magpul’s new booth (#20263) out at SHOT Show.

Sage M14ALCS/PMRI

Friday, January 14th, 2011

The modern M14/M1A Sage EBR platform rifle was deployed in 2004 with the Navy under the designations MK14 Mod 0 and MK14 Mod 1. This was due to their need for a compact M14 with a collapsible stock, which would facilitate easier deployment in the confines of ships, vehicles and in air operations. Shortly after, the U.S. Coastguard adopted the Sage EBR, also under the designation MK14 Mod 0. Other forces followed suit, with the Army’s M14EBR-RI, the Marine Corps’ M39 EMR, and the Air Forces’s MK14 Mod 0.

Now, Sage offers a newer version of this classic rifle in the M14ALCS/PMRI configuration. Aimed at precision shooters or snipers requiring an adjustable stock comb height, the traditional EBR chassis is now fitted with a MagPul PRS2 stock. If reaching out far and touching somebody bad is part of your business, deploying with a Sage Enhanced Battle Rifle chassis equipped M14/M1A makes it infinitely possible!

BHI Expands Even as SHOT Show Looms

Friday, January 14th, 2011

Effective March 1, 2011 Blackheart International will acquire Mid-Atlantic Training Resources’ portfolio and assets which has long been an associate to BHI. With this acquisition, the new Blackheart International Training operation will continue to provide its proven real-world tactical training courses to DoD agencies, independent contractors and law-enforcement personnel. These courses are conducted at Blackheart International Training facilities, which include a former multi-story hospital ideal for CQB and hostage extraction training, classroom, and a diverse live-fire range developed for CQB, sniper, heavy and crew-served weapons training.

In addition to expanding their training capabilities, BHI has also expanded their custom firearms production by introducing the BHI F-Class rifle. It is designed specifically for NRA F-Class TR (Target Rifle) competition which is a fairly liberal shooting class that allows the competitor the use of a scope and front bipod or rest while shooting in the prone position at targets half the size of those used by iron sight shooters.

At the heart of the BHI F-Class rifle is the BHI barreled action. It’s built on a Kreiger cut-rifled stainless steel barrel that’s been cryogenically treated then mated to a BHI stainless steel custom bolt action. The bolt and barreled action is then treated with a matte black Ionbond coating for maximum durability and smooth operation.

The barreled action is precision-fitted to a robust carbon-fiber and fiberglass composite stock via aluminum pillar bedding for maximum rigidity. In addition to strategically placed texturing on the forend and grip, the stock features an adjustable cheek piece height and length-of-pull spacer system. Also included is a Jewell trigger set at 1-lb. pull and a hinged floor plate.

The BHI F-Class rifle is available in .308 Blackheart. Custom chambering is also available. Visit www.BHIarms.com for more info.

BHI will be in booth #20214.

Bates to Unveil New Footwear at SHOT Show

Friday, January 14th, 2011

Naturally Bates is going to unveil at least a couple of new styles at SHOT Show. After all, they are a footwear company and that’s the prime place to do it. But we have been fortunate enough to see behind the curtain and preview a couple of these styles at their headquarters in Michigan last fall. What we saw was awesome.

Bates is expanding their iCS line with the Delta-9 in Desert Tan. What it does is introduce the Individual Comfort System’s (ICS) Adjustable Comfort Technology to the world of desert boots. This “dial” technology allows each individual can choose the comfort zone that’s right for them by inserting a disc shaped dial into a channel in the heel of the boot. Different positions correspond to different ways that the foot interacts with the boot’s sole.

Additionally, Bates is introducing the Light Hiker and we think it is going to give the Improved Combat Hiker currently used by troops in Afghanistan a run for its money. Obviously, by looks alone you can see that it is not the same boot but rather incorporates some commercial technologies that many in the military will already be familiar with from the outdoor segment. The Light Hiker is just that, being designed for use as a hiker and perfect for scrambling and carrying light loads.

These are but two of the many tactical and duty footwear that Bates will be launching at SHOT show. Be sure to visit them in booth #12262.

Blackhawk! at SHOT Show

Friday, January 14th, 2011

We received Blackhawk!’s 2011 catalog a couple of weeks ago and to be honest, we are impressed. It’s hard to believe that they are able to introduce as many products as they do, year after year.

One of the products we are happy to see hitting the streets this time around is the High Performance Fighting Uniform (HPFUâ„¢). BLACKHAWK! is now offering a version of it without their patented I.T.S. â„¢ (Integrated Tourniquet System) called the HPFU Slick. This woks out great for those who don’t need the added security of tourniquets day-to-day.

Additionally, they are offering an updated version of the standard HPFU with a more streamlined I.T.S. ™. A single tourniquet is pre-positioned in the axillary area of each arm and the apex of the thigh of each leg for immediate activation by self or buddy-aid to stem blood loss in an emergency. Both are available in Black, Olive Drab, Desert Digital, and MultiCam® (yep, Blachawk is on the MultiCam wagon big time).

In addition to the HPFUs look for new athletic wear, station house uniforms for fire and EMS, clothing, updated versions of popular clothing designs and a whole slew of nylon gear.
