Saturday, April 7th, 2012

215 Gear just launched their new Concealed Carry Belt. It’s similar to their Ultimate Riggers Belt, but without the safety features for “down range” use. The 1.5” wide belt is made with resin impregnated webbing, for increased stiffness. They top it off with a custom version of the 1.5” Cobra buckle, to assist in size adjustment. The entire inside is covered in Velcro pile to lock your holsters and pouches in place.

Medium fits 30”-35” waist.
Large fits 35″-40” waist.
X-Large fits 40″-45” waist.

Made in USA!

TAC-TV Launches

Saturday, April 7th, 2012

The long anticipated launch of TAC-TV has finally arrived. Hosted by US Army Special Operations Veteran Larry Vickers, TAC-TV not only provides access to the series of the same name in an extended format, but also includes the Daniel Defense Vickers Tactical training videos. All-in-all, there’s 10 hours of HD content. Additionally, they’re adding Hackathorn content and they’ve planned hours and hours of behind the scenes and other surprises as well as user submitted videos. My cable system hasn’t carried any of LAV’s previous series so it’s great to finally get access to full shows. One other thing I really like about the site is that registration is simple and you can even log in with your Facebook account.

And while access to the video content is pretty cool all on its own, there’s also the TAC-TV giveaway. In honor of the 1911 (One of Larry’s favorites) and its 101 years of service, TAC-TV is doing an unprecedented membership event. In the 101 days from launch they will be giving away a great deal of prizes as members progressively reaches certain levels. Everything from a DDM4 V7 to the ‘moon rock’; the 10,000th member will win a Custom Vickers 1911. TAC-TV they will film the making of the pistol and the winner will be presented the gun on television.

The very first prize is a DDM4 V7 for being the 100th person to sign up for a full year. Any bets as to how long it will take for that prize to be claimed?

After the jump, checkout the full giveaway list. It’s both impressive and extensive.

Ghost Recon Network

Friday, April 6th, 2012

I have to preface this article by telling you that I’m not a gamer. That’s really more Tactical Fanboy’s bailiwick. However, I am impressed with cool tech and Ubisoft’s new Ghost Recon Network impressed me when I saw it last week. It’s essentially a social networking site specifically for Ghost Recon: Future Soldier gamers. There are even a couple of cool features there that you might want to monkey with if you’re like me and don’t game. What’s even cooler, it’s 100% free!

I understand that there are similar sites out there for other games but they don’t do what Ghost Recon Network does. It has several components. Ghost Recon Network tracks your stats, lets you modify your in-game weapons on the go, helps you to be a better player, and lets you keep track of friends. What’s not to love?

The Ghost Dossier is your overall Ghost Recon profile, starting with Future Soldier and extending to future games in the series. You can view stats and achievements/trophies earned throughout the games, and earn medals and other rewards based on in-games exploits. There’s also the Tour of Duty, which track mission progress through all the Ghost Recon games and marks them on the world map.

Through Network, you can form squads (think clans) with other players. Overall squad statistics, or the stats of individual members, can be tracked through multiple gametypes, and squad leaders can promote or demote individual members.

Challenges can be issued through Network to your friends, offering bonus XP as an incentive for their completion. In a show of one-upmanship, if you manage to complete a challenge, you can reissue the improved challenge back to your friend. This can be done up to 5 times.

One of the more exciting features is the support Network has for Gunsmith, the in-game weapon customization tool. Many of the features found in the console version of Gunsmith are available either through the Network website or the mobile apps (Gunsmith on your iPad!), both running on the same game engine as GR:FS, albeit in a stripped down form. Mainly, there’s no firing range to test your combination; instead, a scenario system rates your weapon’s effectiveness in multiple situations. Any weapons customized can be synched to your copy of Future Soldier.

You can post your creations to the Gunsmith Wall, where other players can view and rate them, and import them to their own Gunsmith for use in-game. You can also post your creations to your Facebook wall.

Massif Launches Brandon Webb Logo Clothing – Updated

Friday, April 6th, 2012

About a month ago friend, former SEAL and SOFREP Editor Brandon Webb shared some cool news with me. Massif was going to launch a line of clothing featuring his logo and earlier this week, it happened.

The launch includes three GREAT Massif products which should be no strangers to regular SSD readers; the Diamondpeak Field Pant, Pilot Rock Polo, and Integrated Tactical Jacket. In fact, I own and use all three.

The line is offered in BW Black and features Brandon’s logo embroidered on the garment.

We caught up with Brandon and he told SSD, “There is a massive void in the market for combining innovation and functionality into outdoor clothing that is also at an affordable price point. Arc’teryx makes AWESOME stuff but it’s out of the reach of many. I’m working with Massif to develop several key survival items built into new clothing for fall. This stuff will keep Bear Grylls up at night tossing and turning.”

We also want you to know that the line will included several new items for Fall. For example, there will be survival multi tools incorporated into new garments such as a reversible anorak (Black/Camo). Also the line will expand with OD as a color option.
