Counterfeits – It’s Not Just Cut and Sew

Wednesday, July 18th, 2012

Over the weekend I visited a Barnes & Noble. Amongst the tchotchke at the checkout was a camouflaged book mark. Upon closer inspection I noticed that it was in the MultiCam pattern.

When I flipped it over I noticed that it had been designed by David Cole Wheeler. I thought that was pretty amazing since I didn’t see his name on the MultiCam patent.

I checked with Crye Precision and they informed me that they did not license the MultiCam pattern to the producer of these bookmarks.

This just goes to show that you never know where you are going to see a knockoff. And, with the US Army Camouflage Improvement Effort afoot, you can imagine that even images of the winning patterns are going to be very lucrative as the market moves to use them in various ways.

Badger Ordnance Update

Wednesday, July 18th, 2012

We haven’t written about Badger Ordnance in quite some time so we have some news to fill you in on.

The spotting scope night vision integrator mount is starting to get a lot of traction and is currently in use by almost every Army Special Forces Group. It allows you to mount night vision equipment to the M151 spotting scope (Leupold Mk IV 12-40x60mm). You can also mount other Picatinny compatible devices such as laser designators. They are currently working on NSN assignment and these are also available through ADS Inc for agency and unit purchase.

Two more items that have been doing very well are the Left Hand and Universal Charging Handles. Military demand has increased on these and Australian SOF just purchased nearly 1000 of the Universal models.

These couple of items are by no means the depth and breadth of Badger Ordnance’s offerings. Check them out at badgerordnance.com

Grey Ghost Gear Pack Giveaway – Don’t Miss It!

Tuesday, July 17th, 2012

You can STILL enter through tomorrow!

Let’s face it, the Lightweight Operator Packs from Grey Ghost Gear look great. My kids wore them to last week’s Warrior Expo Week and they spent most of their visit explaining where they got them. Somehow that turned into a rumor that someone was giving them away. Well now they are.

Grey Ghost Gear has had a lot of success with their PenCott pattern packs but they want to know if they should keep making them, or if they should try out a different camouflage, or better yet, both. Grey Ghost wants to know what you think, but they want to hear your opinion on their Facebook page. They value your opinion so much that they are willing to give away a pack a day for three days running. This means that today, they will give away a Badlands, tomorrow a Sandstorm and on Wednesday a Greenzone pack.

To enter, visit www.facebook.com/pages/Grey-Ghost-Gear and Like them. And then tell them that Soldier Systems Daily sent you and which camo patterns they should make packs in.

They will randomly draw a winner from those posts each evening. You don’t have to reenter each day, once is enough, but you can only win once. Void where prohibited.
