New Police Symbology Patches from SOTech

Thursday, October 18th, 2012

20121018-075124.jpg

Narcotics, Patrol Rifle, Riot Control and HAZMAT patches have been added to SOTech’s line of Police Symbology. The patches are hook and loop backed and also have a low-profile fabric loop for hang cord attachment for use as a gear bag identifier. The first symbology patches SOTech designed were military oriented and are provided on official SOCOM issue Mission Go Bags and SOF medical bags identifying the contents of the bags for quick recognition in the field. From these symbols, SOTech developed the TMPST magnet tile planning and training tool that is currently in use throughout the Army. Over the last year personnel from LAPD, LASD and other local departments have been working with SOTech to adapt both TMPST and the symbology patches for law enforcement use. Stay tuned, SOTech is already designing another set with input from SSD reader suggestions.

20121018-080112.jpg

Juggernaut Defense, LLC is currently delivering cases to US Army’s PM-SWAR and US SOF for the Motorola ATRIX and RAZR-MAXX. They also have new cases and mounts for several other EUD’s (smartphones) that we’re engineering and testing currently. You’ll get your fist chance to see them at next week’s AUSA as they are unveiled along with several new Tactical Radio Docks in the Glenair, Inc. booth (Booth #4140 on Lower Level).

Juggernaut has spent the past 12 months evaluating the dismounted warfighter’s kit in great detail; right down to the last connector/cable and have simplified it to the most basic level to reduce cost, weight, and complexity. Working closely with the US Army, Juggernaut Defense designed a system that utilized the Android ‘smartphone on the battlefield’ approach combined with a low cost tactical radio and built a kit that not only meets but exceeds the user’s requirements for a sealed, ruggedized solution that can be fielded downrange.

Prototype MOHAWK Helmet Pics

Wednesday, October 17th, 2012

Last week we mentioned that the latest version of Ceradyne’s MOdular HArd Wired Kitted (MOHAWK) Boltless Combat Helmet. But, at last year’s AUSA, Ceradyne along with Wilcox Industries, gave everyone a sneak of the future of combat helmets. These photos of the MOHAWK technology demonstrator were taken during a recent SSD visit to Wilcox Industries. As you can see, the first version was a standard ACH cut. You can also make out an attachment point at the top of the helmet.
