New TreeGO IZLID Ultra Pouch from MATBOCK

Friday, July 6th, 2012

MATBOCK has been selling their TreeGO IZLID pouches for awhile now. Based on user feedback, they made a few improvements. They recently caught us up on the latest changes.

Without altering the simple, easy to use design we went back to the drawing board to add a few features. 1st being the small retention pocket that is specifically designed to carry the Gear Keeper RT4, which is sold when you order “with retention” from our website. 2nd we made the opening slightly larger to allow IZLIDs with the protective flip cap – the original design forced the operator to remove that plastic cap. 3rd the cap is redesigned to ensure operators can pull the IZLID out of the pouch with one hand without unbuckling or disconnecting any latches (single part draw). Our Tree-GO IZLID Ultra pouch is now available on our website, but we also updated our Tree-GO IZLID 1000 to match these 3 new features. No matter which IZLID you use the pouches are design to ensure an easy transition (one less thing operators have to worry about when learning a new systems – having to learn how to get it out).

They also provided us with these brochures –

Additionally, MATBOCK has finalized the fit of the IZLID Ultra pouch.

MATBOCK pouches are available in Coyote, Multicam and Desert Digital. MADE IN USA!

These pouches were designed for JTACs by JTACs. Check out both pouches at www.matbock.com/products/pouches.

BE Meyers GLARE Enforcer Approved by FDA – See It At Warrior Expo East

GLARE Enforcer

It’s official. The BE Meyers GLARE Enforcer is the only non-lethal laser to receive an FDA variance for Law Enforcement use. Obviously, this is a major announcement. Now, domestic law enforcement agencies have a safe, yet effective non-lethal tool to allow land and maritime-based personnel to identify and if needed, deter unsafe vehicles and craft from entering their space from standoff distances of up to 2km. It uses Eye Safe technology which automatically adjusts the output power depending on target distance, delivering its maximum permissible power at all times while maintaining the safety of the intended target and all nearby personnel against accidental eye injury.

SmartWool PHD Elite Socks Hit the Market

Friday, July 6th, 2012

SmartWool has just released their new PhD Elite line of socks featuring their 4 Degree Elite Fit System and ReliaWool Technology.

I wore the last go around of SmartWool PhD socks for quite awhile. I loved the fit but the heels wore out. Every single pair. Oddly enough, the SmartWool hiking socks I was issued in the service lasted forever so I’m glad to hear that they’re integrating this new ReliaWool technology.

As these were just released to stores I haven’t had a chance to try them out yet, but I’m looking forward to it and I’ll let you know what I think. T-shirts, underwear (unless you go commando) and socks are the closest clothing to your body. Don’t skimp on them, regardless of brand. They are critical to comfort and performance.

HSP Offers Free Download of Targets

Friday, July 6th, 2012

Haley Strategic has just bundled their lineup of training targets into a single zip file for free download. These are the same targets we used at the recent Disruptive Industries event and are used by Travis Haley not only to keep his shots tuned up but to train his students. Now you can use them too. You get Twister Drill, Lucky Charms and Shift Gears from HSP as well as The Practical Shooting Academy’s Trigger Stripe. I find them to be very effective training tools and think it’s great that HSP is sharing them.

Are Digital Pixel Camouflage Patterns Ineffective?

Thursday, July 5th, 2012

In a just published essay entitled, “Are Digital Pixel Camouflage Patterns Ineffective?” Guy Cramer, CEO of Hyperstealth Biotechnology Corp takes on the recent meme that imagines all pixelated camo is bad because the US Army’s Universal Camouflage Pattern is anything but.

While Mr Cramer takes a stab at it as well, I’d like to remind our readers that it’s foolish to throw the baby out with the bath water. UCP’s geometry is based on the highly successful Marine Patterns (MARPAT) which is a derivative of the Canadian Pattern (CADPAT). The exact same geometry is also shared with the US Navy’s AOR patterns. It’s about coloration, and in the case of UCP they got it wrong.

Guy Cramer believes in the effectiveness of pixelated patterns so much that the submission he developed with ADS Inc is based on the technology but with some more advanced enhancements. Read Cramer’s Essay here – www.hyperstealth.com/pixel-camo-is-effective
