Wednesday, September 25th, 2013

SERKET Racing’s Mark Llano took Travis Clennon for a lap at Circuit of the Americas, located in Austin, Texas. Travis is a former Army Staff Sergeant and was wounded by a roadside bomb while serving in Afghanistan, and was awarded The Purple Heart for his bravery. On September 21, 2013, Travis was given a home due to the efforts of Operation Homefront, Wells Fargo, and SERKET Racing.

MDM – Zero Point

Wednesday, September 25th, 2013

We’ve mentioned the TiTAN and Modular Charge System from Zero Point in the past so the Multi Use Tactical Targeting System (MUTTS) caught my eye.

Designed to be used with both charge systems, it allows you to precisely aim those tools at various heights. It comes in a kit with a tripod and a central hub with various detachable arms so that you can configure the MUTTS exactly how you need it.

Additionally, when used with the MCS frangible leg, the MUTTS tripod remains intact for later use.

MDM – TAG

Sure, the TAG Knap Sack Go Bag is simple, but sometimes that’s what you need. And I can see myself using it for lots of things like toting my swim gear, carrying my shoes for travel, storing my helmet (but not after I’ve had my shoes in it) or any of a myriad of other ideas. It’s made from LiteLok in MultiCam.

MDM – Princeton Tec

Wednesday, September 25th, 2013

It might be an oldie but a goodie but the Apex headlamp just transitioned to a 275 lumen version.

20130925-103843.jpg

This version relies on 2 x CR123As but there is also a rechargeable version as well as a variant that uses 4 x AAs. There are four area lights in white or red that offer general illumination in high or low power. These are paired with a 275 lumens spot light with high or low. This is regulated light meaning you’ll get the full 275 lumens for a longer period before dropping off and they have incorporated both a heat sink and low battery indicator. Waterproof to 1m. All for under $100.

MDM – Warrior Trail

Wednesday, September 25th, 2013

20130924-185040.jpg

The owner of Warrior Trail literally accosted me in the aisle at Modern Day Marine and I’m glad he did because he has built a company around providing quality training armor. And Warrior Trail doesn’t just stop at hard plates, they’ve also developed soft armor inserts that replicate weight, bulk and pliability of the real thing.

At 1/10th the cost of real armor, you can outfit an entire team with training plates and soft armor inserts for use during hand to hand, obstacle course and other situational training scenarios that might damage ceramic plates. Additionally, you can get the soft inserts wet without worrying about the integrity of your armor and they can be washed if needed.

Not stopping there, they also showed me a BALCS armor carrier. Some organizations will want to use the training armor in their issue carrier but others such as training schools, may want to configure a training vest. It accepts BALCS cut armor, features MOLLE webbing so that you can set it up just like your working vest and can be worn with a cummerbund that accepts side plates or a strap. Offered in Tan, Black and MultiCam.
