TEA Headsets Awarded TCAPS Order For INVISIO X50 System

INVISIO_X50_System1_r#B3497

TEA Headsets is happy to announce they have just been awarded a $7.5M order for their INVISIO X50 Systems for the TCAPS requirement ran through PEO Soldier. The primary goal of this requirement is to provide soldiers protected hearing in combat, while enabling them to hear the surrounding environment as well as their communications (ex; 2-way radios, intercoms). Noise-induced hearing loss, which is often both permanent and preventable, can directly affect a Soldier’s ability to perform the mission. Noise-induced hearing loss is one of the most prevalent injuries among military and civilian personnel, representing a significant portion of the annual cost for service-connected disability compensation.

According to the Government Accountability Office, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has reported that tinnitus (ringing or other noises in the ears) and hearing loss are two of the most common service-connected disabilities. Approximately $1.1 billion in disability compensation was paid for these two conditions in fiscal year 2009, and this number continues to rise, as Soldiers and civilians support noise-hazardous operations unprotected.

Last Resort1

About the INVISIO X50 System: The INVISIO X50 greatly expands the user’s capabilities to effectively communicate on the battlefield with it’s ability to work with practically any 2-way radio, vehicle/aircraft/watercraft intercoms, mobile phones, tablets, and even computers.

The INVISIO X50 system features the INVISIO X5 dual in-ear headset which provides certified hearing protection, enhanced and amplifiable electronic hear-thru and clear speech communications using the patented in-ear bone conduction microphone technology.

At the heart of the system is the INVISIO X50 Control Unit/Push-to-Talk. The X50 Control Unit serves as a communication hub, allowing soldiers to interconnect and control multiple 2 way radios, adjust independent incoming audio levels of each connected radio and also adjust the levels of their external hearing.

The System includes INVISIO X5 Headset, INVISIO X50 Control Unit/Push-to-Talk and modular Communication Cables for specified radios/devices.

Congrats guys!

TACOST Card Set from TRICON

Wednesday, October 9th, 2013

20131003-135003.jpg

TRICON’s TACOST (TAsk, COnditions & STandards) card set offers four different pistol training groups: marksmanship, speed, baseline, and dry fire, with 13 training exercises per group. These are kind of like training decks for other sports with different exercises or drills in this case on each card. The drills are clearly explained with information including range, rounds fired, point penalties, and a basic explanation. Additionally, the deck includes Legend and Safety Rules cards. In a pinch, the cards can also function as a full deck of playing cards, as they’re marked with all four suits and 13 ranks.

NRA American Warrior Issue 16 Is Now Available

Wednesday, October 9th, 2013

NRA Life of Duty’s ‘American Warrior’ is a great online magazine that covers military, LE and first responder profiles, gear and lifestyle. The latest issue is now available for your perusal.

American Warrior No 16

Of particular interest to SSD readers would be the WarriorWare section featuring reviews by Dom Raso who served this nation for many years as a Navy SEAL. I think you’ll find his reviews refreshing and he covers several products we’ve mentioned here before including the S&S Precision PlateFrame as well as Crye Precision’s HalfJak and All Weather Combat Clothing.

What’s The Latest On RAAF Camo? I’ll Give You A Hint, It’s Blue

Wednesday, October 9th, 2013

Awhile back we showed you an atrocious Blue variant of the Australian MultiCam Pattern being trialled by the Royal Australian Air Force.

RAAF AMP 1

According to a story in the RAAF newspaper, this new uniform, known as the General Purpose Uniform, will begin to replace the current DPCU for RAAF personnel beginning on the Air Force birthday in March, 2014. According to Air Marshall Brown, Chief of the RAAF, this uniform is for noncombat use, “to be worn within the workplace and on non-warlike operational duties such as deployments on humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations.” Those deploying to operational areas will receive appropriate uniforms for the environment. This design was chosen over three other candidate patterns.

Thanks JD for the heads up!

SureFire EB2 – A 2-Cell Backup Light

Wednesday, October 9th, 2013

EB2_backpack

The EB2 Backup is a higher-output, two-battery version of the EB1 Backup you are all familiar with. It is a dual-output flashlight (5 Lumens and 500 Lumens) designed as a backup light for patrol officers or as a primary light for plainclothes officers. SureFire also recommends it for outdoor, self-defense, and everyday-carry use.

Powered by two 123A lithium batteries, the EB2 Backup features a LED emitter and a precision Total Internal Reflection (TIR) lens. The EB2 is constructed of high-strength aerospace aluminum that has been Mil-Spec Type III hard anodized and O-ring sealed to protect against the elements.

This useful dual-output light comes in two versions: a click-type tailcap switch or tactical tailcap switch. To activate the EB2 with a click-type switch, just press or click the tailcap pushbutton once for the tactical-level 500-lumen high beam that can reach deep into the night or overwhelm an aggressor’s dark-adapted vision. Return to off and press or click again within two seconds to activate the 5-lumen low beam, useful for navigating, loading gear, and other tasks that don’t require a lot of light. With the tactical tailcap version of the EB2, press for momentary-on low, press farther for momentary-on high, and twist the tailcap for constant-on activation at either level.

EB2-TN

All EB2 models are available in Black or Tan.

Features and Benefits:
• Two output levels—high for maximum light, low for extended runtime
• Two tailcap switch options: click-on/off or press-for-momentary activation/twist-for-constant-on
• TIR lens produces tight beam with reach and enough surround light for peripheral vision
• Coated, tempered window resists impact and maximizes light output
• Two-way clip permits light to be carried head up or down, or clipped to a hat brim or bill
• Weatherproof O-ring and gasket sealing
• Powered by two included 123A lithium batteries with 10-year shelf life
• Backed by SureFire’s No-Hassle Promise
