Detonation Technology – STS-6 Shock Tube System

Thursday, June 16th, 2016

Setting a breach is inevitably the moment when shock tube turns against you. For a small interior breach shock tube (or NONEL) is manageable, only needing to be 12′ or 15′ long. But when large wall charges and EOD energetic tools are needed that standoff isn’t enough, and 75′ of shock tube can make an impressive rats nest.

Enter the Detonation Technology STS-6. The shock tube is spun on a collapsing mandrel in a hand held drill, then the clam shell case is snapped on and the mandrel is removed. An M-81 or other igniter is attached to the outside, and the “live” end spools out from the middle. It is virtually impossible to get tangled.

Winkler Knives – Legacy Axe and Recon Knife

Thursday, June 16th, 2016

Winkler Knives unveiled two new products at the recent Blade Show designed with US Navy and Army Veteran Special Operator Kevin Holland. He is the guy who first came to Daniel Winkler to create a military axe so it’s great to see him lend his experience toward new designs.

This is the Legacy Axe which shares some lines from that first model that Kevin carried ino combat. One of the biggest changes is the swept back handle which doesn’t constantly catch on the leg as you walk.  You’ll also note that the top half of the handle is skeletonized and wrapped in 550 cord.  As with all Winkler Knives handle options include maple and rubber (chiseled is optional) but I’m sure you could get micarta if you asked.

Below, you can see the Recon Knife. Offered with or without teeth, it was designed specifically by Holland as a companion for the Legacy Axe.

Waterbrick / Ammobrick / Foodbrick

Wednesday, June 15th, 2016

I ran across these and thought they were pretty cool.  Waterbrick International offers these containers for bulk storage of various items that can be stacked.

The secret is in the design. Not only do they boast handles but they also have molded protrusions and indentations that allow the bricks to interlock when stacked.

This design also gives you a lot of options for stowage and portage.

Yes, they are food amd water safe.
