ZU Bladeworx Australia – 1RAR Evaluating New Knife

The order for the Nomad Mk2 is a trial for the Australian Army, being conducted by 1RAR and consists of metal live blades and 6061 Aluminium trainers (Army HQ specified Aluminium with a type 2 red anodizing).

The Mk1 had a standard tip on it but the Mk2 has a reinforced tip for penetrating harder targets.

Features:
·100% Made In Brisbane, Queensland Australia
·Steel used is Cryodur 2363 (German made A2 imported in 15mm plate)
·The Nomad weights about 170grams
·A new kydex sheath was designed specifically for the Australian Army to be more compact than standard Mk1 sheath and to fit under a shingle
·Ever knife is machined out of the solid 15mm thick plate steel
·Each knife is one piece (integral) with no separation between handle and blade
·Each knife is heat treated in Brisbane to about 57-58RC
·Each knife is cerakoted in flat black
·The knives are hand sharpened by either myself or Dirty Harry and are all double edged

The knife is currently not restricted to Army purchase and is available for civilian use (without the unit markings).

TALON Grips Introduces Moss Colored Rubber Grips

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colorado (November 14, 2016) – TALON Grips introduces Moss colored rubber grips to their industry leading line of adhesive backed firearm grips.

Moss is the first custom colored rubber grip added to the TALON Grips line. The new color enables TALON Grips users to customize the look of their firearms while improving their interface with the firearm for better performance.

All TALON Grips firearm specific grip designs will be available in Moss. The new product rollout will be graduated by brand to allow for production time. Initially the grips will be available directly from TALON Grips. Moss grips will be available to TALON Retailers beginning February 1, 2017.

The introduction of Moss is the result of customer demand. Flat Dark Earth (FDE) and Olive Drab (OD) are preferred colors in tactical and military circles which has driven demand in the private sector. With many manufacturers producing FDE and OD firearms, Moss is TALON Grips answer to the popularity of FDE.

“This is a project that has been in the works for several years, and we are excited to introduce Moss grips to our line. Our team did an unbelievable job stepping up to each challenge and exceeding every expectation. TALON Grips received numerous samples of FDE, OD, Tan, and Grey from leading firearm manufacturers throughout the development of the new Moss color. TALON Grips Moss is not intended to match any particular manufacturer’s version of FDE. “Our goal was to create a color that would complement as many manufacturers’ color interpretations as possible. “We tested the color alongside most major manufacturers FDE and OD and believe customers will be as pleased with the color combinations as we are,” said Michael Morris.

With the introduction of the new color grips TALON Grips will be expanding its offerings from over 400 products to over 600 products.

Tyrant Designs CNC Announces Its First Of A New Line Of Foregrips, The Mod ForeGrip Series

Tyrant Designs CNC, an industry leader in high-end aftermarket AR grips, has announced the release of their new line of foregrips. FN’s Series Of Modern Sporting Rifles Re-engineered For Enhanced Performance

(McLean, Va. – Dec. 05, 2016) FN America, LLC announces the release of the next evolution of modern sporting rifles bearing the FN 15TM name and featuring the newly-designed FN handguard with M-LOK technology. The FN 15 Series will take on a streamlined, family approach and will feature updated models like the FN 15 DMR II and Tactical Carbine II in both 5.56x45mm and .300 AAC Blackout.

“The updates made to the FN 15 series focus heavily on the handguard,” said John Keppeler, senior vice president of commercial and law enforcement sales. “We evaluated handguard options on the market and decided that the next evolution of this line would need to outperform our customers’ expectations in terms of fit and finish as well as accuracy. We are confident that these new rifles will do just that.”

The FN handguard, constructed of 6061 aluminum, precisely locks to the upper receiver, over top of the barrel and barrel nut, using wedge locks tightened clockwise and anti-rotation pin preventing movement between rail and receiver. Finishing off the installation are two screws to bottom out in the barrel nut groove. Combined, the handguard’s alignment mechanism provides extreme rigidity and less deflection, ensuring that all mounted accessories will remain affixed without any shift in zero, despite pressures that may be applied during firing.

The new rifles and carbines will begin shipping to FN distributors this month and are expected to be available at retail at the end of the year. Manufacturer’s suggested retail values are as follows – FN 15 DMR II, $1,999; FN 15 Tactical Carbine II, $1,599; FN 15 Tactical Carbine .300 BLK II, $1,599.

Although this press release diesn’t mention it, this sounds a lot like the carbine they’ve working on with Hodge Defense Systems. It would be great to see a production version.
