French Army Introduces New Combat Uniform

Thursday, June 14th, 2018

The French Army recently revealed the Tenue Combat F3, a new FR combat uniform in Central European Camouflage. By 2019, all French Soldiers deployed overseas will be outfitted with this new FR uniform which is available in two weights. The summer version is an aramid and viscose FR mixture, which offers improved air permeability.

There are no seams along the tops of the shoulders.

They’ve incorporated zipper pulls and two-way zippers. Also, you can see close-ups of the fabric’s herringbone weave which they call a chevron ripstop.

The F3 uniform also incorporates slotted buttons.

Interestingly enough, I saw an example of a new French, 7-color camouflage pattern last year in Canada which looks to be influenced by MultiCam. They refer to it as Hot Climate Camouflage, which is not to be confused with the Tan-based Desert pattern. The garment seen here was created for use by elements of the French Special Operations Command and has a different cut and fabric than the F3 uniform.

Photos from the French Ministry of the Army, except the last three photos which were taken last year in Canada and depict a French SOF uniform.

Victory First Launches Featureless GLOCK Slides

Thursday, June 14th, 2018

Victory First has opened up pre-orders for their Featureless GLOCK slides. Wait, what? Featureless GLOCK slides? It seems like everyone offers a proprietary cut for their GLOCK compatible slides. Instead, Victory First decided to introduce a slide which could serve as a blank canvas, allowing the user to either customize the slide on their own or have a machine shop do it for them.

Made from 17-4PH Stainless Steel, they are cut to the exact specifications of a factory GLOCK slide, minus the serrations. These fit GEN 1-3 components. They’ll also fit common holsters, as-is.

You will not be charged until the item ships, but they expect to ship individual orders in 6 weeks.

It’s Official! Aimpoint Launches New ACRO Series Sight

Wednesday, June 13th, 2018

Malmö, Sweden – June 2018 – Aimpoint, the originator and worldwide leader in red dot sighting technology, is proud to introduce their new line of red dot sights, the Aimpoint® ACRO™ (Advanced Compact Reflex Optic) Series. The unique small sight design of the Aimpoint® ACRO series electronic red-dot sight was developed for use on pistols and other weapon platforms.
For many years, end users have requested a small enclosed red dot sight to fit on handguns. Utilizing Aimpoint’s advanced sight technology, Aimpoint is proud to launch the first of its kind to the market. The Acro P-1, offers an enclosed system that is much more durable than those with open systems. It is also the only sight in its size category fully tested for shock, vibration, temperature span and other environmental stress.

The Acro P-1 optic can perform under tough conditions while adding negligible size and weight to the equipment. Tested with a minimum of 20,000 rounds on a .40 cal pistol slide, this small optic has proven itself in its size category as the leader in ruggedness and reliability.

Designed for direct integration onto pistol slides, the Aimpoint Acro P-1 sight can also be used as a backup sight for magnifying scopes, personal defense weapons, and on any system where a small red dot is applicable.

The Acro P-1 sight is a 1X (non-magnifying) parallax-free optic that features a 3.5 minute of angle (MOA) red dot for fast target acquisition. It is fully submersible to 25 meters and allows continuous operation for over 1 year on a single CR1225 battery. Dot intensity is adjusted with side push buttons.

“The development of the Acro P-1 sight sets a new standard for compact pistol mounted reflex optics,” said Aimpoint AB President Lennart Ljungfelt. “The commitment we make to our customers is to develop the highest performing red-dot sights available. The Acro P-1 optic fulfills that commitment by providing the lightest and most rugged enclosed red-dot sight in its size category on the market.”
