TNVC Introduces L-3 Thin-Filmed White Phosphor to Their Line of Popular TNV/PVS-14 Night Vision Monoculars

Wednesday, July 18th, 2018

Following the enormous popularity of TNVC’s Limited Edition July 4th TNV/PVS-14s and overwhelming customer demand for more, similar offerings, TNVC is proud to announce that we have added L-3 Thin-Filmed White Phosphor image intensifier tubes to our regular product line, and they are now available for sale as part of our popular TNV/PVS-14 line.

These high-performing Generation 3, Auto-Gated Night Vision Monoculars offer similar performance to our L-3 OMNI VIII Green Thin-Filmed units, and will meet or exceed current U.S. military OMNI VIII contract specs, but using the highly sought-after White Phosphor technology and image coloration.

With prices starting at $3,495.00, these units offer customers an intermediate option between our more traditional green units and our premium L-3 Unfilmed White Phosphor image intensifier tubes. While these Thin-Filmed White Phosphor tubes cannot match the performance of the Unfilmed White Phosphor units, and will have more scintillation in extremely dark conditions, like our Thin-Filmed green units, they nevertheless offer superb image quality and resolution. Moreover, many end-users report that White Phosphor image intensifier tubes produce an image that is perceived as brighter and having more contrast, with deeper shadows and more defined details, as well as being more pleasing to the eye and producing less eye-strain during prolonged use than green units.

Like all TNV/PVS-14 units, these units are “semi-custom” and built by hand to-order at TNVC’s California facility, and come with TNVC’s industry-leading 10 Year Warranty. While this adds some lead time to these units, it allows TNVC the ability to offer customers will a full menu of customizable options with our TNV/PVS-14, including tube type and accessory kits, as well as MIL-SPEC Black, Flat Dark Earth, and officially licensed Crye Multicamä.

In addition to the standard TNVC TM-14 Weapon Mount option, customers can also purchase the excellent Wilcox L4 G11 ARMY helmet mount at a special package price of $255 with the purchase of one of these L-3 Thin-Filmed White Phosphor units, providing a vast improvement over the decades-old Legacy USGI “Rhino” system.

These Thin-Filmed White Phosphor image intensifier tubes are currently only being offered as part of the TNV/PVS-14 product line. All of our other TNV dual tube Night Vision Goggle systems will continue to be offered with L-3 Thin-Filmed OMNI VIII green and L-3 Unfilmed White Phosphor image intensifier tubes.

Many Special Operations units today are making increased use of LTATV’s and other agile off-road vehicles that enable rapid ground mobility and support with a smaller logistics footprint.

EB4A237D-5B21-4AA2-8EC1-1DE8AA415887

This increased agility and flexibility comes at some cost though.  Such vehicles are usually not equipped with line-of-sight radios, mesh networks, or other C4I capabilities that are often included on larger standard platforms.

D630CD91-F2FE-4450-9CE8-3E3BAEA30A46

Many of the smaller, more agile vehicles also don’t have mil-standard power output ports either. This creates challenges for units that want to have the ability to charge batteries, power equipment and maintain constant operability of critical electronics – on the move and off-the-grid.  Fortunately, PTX power management systems have the built-in flexibility, adaptability and ruggedness to address these capability gaps.

6B0C5A50-2AF0-4F32-8CE7-C912FDBAD443

We have helped many Special Operations units use their SPM-622 kits as a universal power hub for on-board equipment, on-the-go battery charger, and to provide additional operational capabilities while using ATV’s and other mobility platforms.

C8C57D01-4AFC-41E3-9172-8D0465F5CDC1

SPM kits have also proven their utility as an on-board power hub for field-assembled C4I networks, using the vehicle’s cigarette plug or battery contacts as the power interface. The VPM-402 Vest Power Manager also delivers this same flexibility and adaptability for individual ‘man-worn’ systems, and the rugged ABC-812 can provide the same degree of bilk-charging capability out in the middle of nowhere that it delivers back at the FOB.

Brigantes Presents – High Angle Solutions – Petzl Tikka XP²

Wednesday, July 18th, 2018

Weighing in at just 88g, the Petzl Tikka XP², is lighter than other head torches on the market but still delivers 80 lumens in maximum mode and lights up to 68 meters. In economic mode, it can reach a burn-time of 190 hours, which is ideal for extended exercises in the mountains. It has options of both white light and red light, as well as a Wide Angle lens, with a simple open-close feature, allowing the user to choose between a long distance focused beam and flood beam proximity lighting.

The Petzl Tikka XP² headtorch, in reality, will cover most of your mountain needs, this is a good choice if you want a well priced torch for a ‘bit of everything’, or if you are buying a second torch to back up a more beefy model for extreme use.

The AAA batteries are located in the front of the lamp, in the same unit as the LEDs and the TIKKA XP² can be used with lithium batteries to decrease weight or improve performance in cold weather.

With th TIKKA XP², the button system is simple and can be used with gloves on, a necessity in higher, colder altitudes. The strap itself is well made, easy to adjust and solidly connected to the lamp unit.

The TIKKA XP² is reliable and bright, an excellent all-rounder for a military mountaineer.

You Never Know Where They’ll Show Up

SSD,

Taken over a year ago at Culloden Battlefield in Scotland.

The Battle of Culloden was the final confrontation of the Jacobite rising of

1745. On 16 April 1746, the Jacobite forces of Charles Edward Stuart were

decisively defeated by loyalist troops commanded by William Augustus, Duke of

Cumberland, near Inverness in the Scottish Highlands.

Between 1,500 and 2,000 Jacobites were killed or wounded in the brief battle.

In contrast, only about 300 government soldiers were killed or wounded.  The

conflict was the last pitched battle fought on British soil.

If your ever find yourself in Scotland, go to Culloden.  Outstanding museum

that routes you directly out to the battlefield that takes you through the

“road to Culloden” and why it matters so much in a larger sense.  The

battlefield itself is well marked and easy to walk.  You get a real sense of

what took place there in 1745 and why it ended the way it did.

Very respectfully,

SFC MW

TangoDown Announces New Vickers Tactical Carry Trigger for GLOCK

Tuesday, July 17th, 2018

TangoDown™ Inc. is excited to introduce the new addition to the Vickers Tactical™ product lineup! Join us in welcoming the Vickers Tactical™ Carry Trigger (VTCT). There are two (2) different models which accommodate the large variety of Glock™ models on the market (see below).

The VTCT is a flat faced polymer trigger.  The flat faced trigger has become quite popular among shooters and offers the perception of a lighter trigger press.  When developing the VTCT, the mechanical take-up was not modified.  However, over-travel was shortened to offer a quicker reset, which allows for a quicker follow up shot.

The VTCT is made from the same material as the OEM trigger, so there isn’t the risk of wear/damage to the frame.  The trigger is an insulator, not a heat conductor and will not get hot while spending the day on the range.

From Larry Vickers – “After using a pre-production prototype version of the new Tangodown™/Vickers Tactical™ Glock trigger on my training pistol for a period of time, I couldn’t be more pleased with the result. In fact, of the multiple students I’ve had try the trigger I’ve yet to receive a negative comment. The Tangodown crew hit this one out of the park and it is, in my opinion, truly the Glock™ trigger ‘Perfected’.”
