Arnold Defense to display FLETCHER Laser Guided Rocket Launcher at IDEX 2019

Thursday, February 14th, 2019

Arnold Defense, the St Louis based manufacturer of 2.75-inch rocket launchers, will be at this year’s International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX 2019) to showcase the FLETCHER Laser Guided Rocket Launcher.  IDEX 2019 will take place 17-21 February 2019 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) and the FLETCHER 2.75-inch/70mm weapon system will be mounted on NIMR’s AJBAN Long Range Special Operations Vehicle (LRSOV) on Stand Number 05-A05.

Arnold Defense’s FLETCHER weapon system, first unveiled in 2017 at London’s DSEi Exhibition, has completed rigorous test-firing protocols, with laser target designation from both ground and air platforms, and is now in initial production.  With FLETCHER, Arnold Defense has made a bold departure from the traditional concept of use for 2.75-inch rocket systems; that of an area suppression weapon ordinarily delivered by aviation assets. Arnold’s evolution has FLETCHER using advanced rocket-guidance technology to utilize ground-based launch platforms, meeting the demands of modern, vehicle-mounted and dismounted asymmetric warfare.

FLETCHER’s unique design allows for ease of operation, maintenance and sustainment.  It employs an existing suite of guidance modules, rockets and warheads, already used in well-known programs and readily available to global forces. FLETCHER recently successfully completed a four-round live firing using multiple airborne laser platforms, confirming the ability to use laser designation from ground and air from various angles and offsets to a distance nearly 6km.

Following exceptional levels of interest expressed in FLETCHER, Arnold Defense is also developing a number of supplementary ground and maritime-based concepts.  These exciting new concepts will expand FLETCHER’s utility into the arena of Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGV), naval and littoral platforms.  It his anticipated that the first of these integrated systems will be unveiled within months.

FLETCHER is supported by a team of global defense industry companies, collaborating under Arnold Defense’s leadership to combine their complimentary expertise.  The team is able to provide a full-system approach to FLETCHER; incorporating design, validation, testing, manufacture and full-system integration within a wide range of ground-to-ground engagement scenarios.

Jim Hager, President and CEO of Arnold Defense said “Since launching FLETCHER, Arnold Defense has exhibited the system widely on the international market, where it has garnered significant interest, especially from military special operations units.  Our rocket launchers are already well-established internationally on airborne platforms, so transitioning into the land and marine environments with FLETCHER has been a natural progression and will provide these forces with a completely new capability.”

He added: “Exhibiting FLETCHER in partnership with NIMR Automotive demonstrates the wide scope and utility of our concept and we look forward to maximizing the opportunities that IDEX 2019 will offer to establish and deepen relationships with regional government departments, defense and security agencies and international businesses.”

SPAWAR Systems Center Names Change to Naval Information Warfare Centers

Thursday, February 14th, 2019

SAN DIEGO (NNS) — Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) announced it will change the names of its Echelon III systems centers, SPAWAR Systems Center Atlantic in Charleston, South Carolina, and SPAWAR Systems Center Pacific in San Diego, to Naval Information Warfare Centers Atlantic and Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific, respectively.

The changes will be effective Feb. 18. The new language “Naval Information Warfare Center,” with the acronym NIWC, (pronounced N’ wick) will apply to the names of all Naval Information Warfare Center sites falling under NIWC Pacific and NIWC Atlantic worldwide.

SPAWAR Commander Rear Adm. Christian Becker made the announcement, Feb. 13, in his address to attendees at the WEST 2019 conference co-hosted by the U.S. Naval Institute (USNI) and the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) at the San Diego Convention Center.

The name change demonstrates that information is a fundamental element of warfare, an essential concept of the Navy’s Design for Maritime Superiority 2.0.

Use of “warfare centers” in the names reflects the centers’ focus, core capabilities and importance in the full spectrum of warfighting. It also improves clarity of mission and purpose with stakeholders across the fleet and industry, and throughout the broader information warfare community and Naval Research and Development Enterprise.

The name Naval Information Warfare Center also aligns the centers with Naval Air Systems Command’s (NAVAIR) air warfare centers and Naval Sea Systems Command’s (NAVSEA) surface and undersea warfare centers.

The intent of the name change is to recognize the importance of the information warfare mission and does not signal a change in SPAWAR’s mission of identifying, developing, delivering and sustaining information warfighting capabilities.

“The advantage information warfare brings to the fight is at the core of our Navy’s ability to compete and win today and in the coming decades,” said Becker. “Recognizing our systems centers as Naval Information Warfare Centers reaffirms our commitment to accelerate the development and delivery of advanced warfighting capabilities to the fleet.”

SPAWAR identifies, develops, delivers and sustains information warfighting capabilities supporting naval, joint, coalition and other national missions. SPAWAR consists of more than 10,000 active-duty military and civil-service professionals located around the world and close to the fleet to keep SPAWAR at the forefront of research, engineering and acquisition to provide and sustain information warfare capabilities to the fleet.

Precision Rifle Series Announces Daniel Defense’s New DELTA 5 Rifle, as the 2019 Official Bolt Gun

Thursday, February 14th, 2019

Yesterday, the Precision Rifle Series made this announcement. What’s very interesting is that the DELTA 5 is too expensive at a $2199 MSRP to be used as a production gun in PRS matches because that class is based on a price threshold of $2000. As you can imagine, there was some pushback from the peanut gallery, but the reality is that Precision Rifle shooting is growing by leaps and bounds and the introduction of DD’s DELTA 5 is going to bring even more shooters into the sport, regardless of whether they shoot in PRS sanctioned matches or others.

Daniel Defense expanded its product offering last month with the introduction of the DELTA 5 bolt-action rifle at the 2019 SHOT Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. Designed with the user in mind, the DELTA 5 combines the modularity found in the DD AR platform with the features and customization a highly experienced precision shooter would want, right out of the box.

“Consumers will find the DELTA 5 to be an extremely accurate and durable bolt-action rifle. It shares many of the premium qualities of our AR platforms including an interchangeable, cold hammer forged barrel and our 100% satisfaction guarantee” said Daniel Defense President/CEO Marty Daniel.

We are proud to welcome Daniel Defense as the 2019 Official Bolt Gun Rifle of the Precision Rifle Series, and we are excited about their commitment to the sport of precision rifle shooting! Daniel Defense is an exciting addition to the PRS family and has significant opportunities to make an impact at PRS events across the country. This year they plan to support and attend many PRS competitions, gain feedback from PRS shooters, and build awesome relationships with you all. They will also be sponsoring the 2019 PRS Finale!
