New Silencer for the Active Retention Tactical Market Segment

Griffin Armament is proud to introduce the 30SD-K to the GATE-LOK™ product line, a .30 caliber silencer with size and weight specs similar to traditional full size 5.56 NATO suppressors. This new product development stemmed from Griffin’s devotion to its customers and end users who have been requesting a shorter, .30 caliber GATE-LOK™ variant for some time. The 30SD-K was engineered specifically for semi and full auto applications and features Griffin Armament’s patented HEDP baffle technology which optimizes flow and achieves properly balanced blowback and muzzle performance. Signature reduction is not exclusive to sound performance as the 30SD-K also features Griffin’s patented low profile, integrated 3-prong flash hider end cap which further reduces flash signature versus tradition designs.

Austin Green, Griffin Armament’s Founder and Lead Engineer offered this comment when discussing the 30SD-K and the GATE-LOK™ product line:

“I originally developed the GATE-LOK™ interface after encountering shortcomings in other designs that interfaced with NATO style muzzle devices. The goal was for a simple, robust, active retention mount that didn’t incorporate any wear prone geometry, had minimal POI shift, and could be mounted easily with one hand. I believe we have absolutely achieved that with the GATE-LOK™interface. And now with the 30SD-K, Griffin Armament end users have the versatility of a high performance .30 caliber silencer with the size and weight similar to that of a traditional 5.56 can. “

30SD-K Features:
• 17-4 PH Stainless Steel construction
• Hi-Temp Cerakote finish
• 5/8×24 GATE-LOK™ Muzzle Brake included
• Patented HEDP™ baffle stack
• Low profile 3-Prong Flash Hider End Cap
• Compatible with all M4SD and 30SD mounts
• $945 MSRP

30SD-K Specs:
• 6.6” Length
• 17.8oz
• 127dB SPL with .300BLK (Subsonic)
• 136dB SPL with 5.56 NATO
• 138dB SPL with .308WIN

Metisentry Acquires Militaryhire.com

Thursday, October 3rd, 2019

Akron, OH – (Oct. 3, 2019) Metisentry, LLC, based in Akron, OH, announced the acquisition of Militaryhire.com.

MilitaryHire began connecting veterans and employers in 2000. Employers quickly came to appreciate the character, skills, and service of the veterans they hired from MilitaryHire. Since then, MilitaryHire has helped over 500,000 veterans and employers fill critical positions within their organizations.

The acquisition comes only weeks after announcing a $10 million-dollar contract renewal from the U.S. Army for one of Metisentry’s other portfolio companies, Willco Technologies.

According to Metisentry President, Marling Engle, “As we push further into the investment side of the business, seizing opportunities within the military and government makes sense. We have a good deal of expertise in the DOD space with cyber security and credentialing, and similar experience within enterprise organizations. MilitaryHire will allow us to expand within that industry, while adding additional value for veterans and businesses.”

The acquisition was finalized on Aug 30, 2019. Metisentry will be acquiring the business assets and some staff.

Raytheon Rheinmetall Land Systems Selects US Manufacturer for Army Combat Vehicle Competition

Thursday, October 3rd, 2019

Textron Systems Joins Lynx Team
TUCSON, Ariz., Sept. 30, 2019 — Raytheon Rheinmetall Land Systems, a joint venture of Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) and Rheinmetall Defence, has selected Textron Systems as the U.S. chassis manufacturer for the Lynx Infantry Fighting Vehicle. The team of industry leaders is offering Lynx to meet the U.S. Army’s requirement for an Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle (OMFV).

“Building Lynx in America will support U.S. manufacturing jobs and revitalize the nation’s defense industrial base,” said Sam Deneke, Raytheon Land Warfare Systems vice president. “Textron Systems is an experienced manufacturer central to our strategy of leveraging a reliable U.S. supply chain to deliver the world’s most advanced combat vehicle to the U.S. Army.”

Textron Systems brings unique capabilities in hull fabrication, rolling chassis assembly, integration and testing to the OMFV program. The company will support final integration during the development and prototyping phase of the program. In parallel, Textron Systems will prepare to build the Lynx chassis during future production phases. Textron Systems intends to perform the work at its Slidell, Louisiana, manufacturing facility.

“When we say Lynx will be built in America, we mean it,” said Ben Hudson, global head of Rheinmetall’s Vehicle Systems Division. “Together with Textron Systems, we will provide the Army with a next-generation combat vehicle that will protect troops and give them a significant advantage in battle.”

The U.S. Army’s OMFV, scheduled for fielding in 2026, is expected to replace the legacy Bradley Fighting Vehicle.

“Textron Systems brings a decades-long heritage of supporting the U.S. Department of Defense and its allies with highly reliable and capable combat vehicles to enhance mission outcomes,” said Lisa Atherton, president and CEO of Textron Systems. “We are proud to be a part of the Lynx team and stand ready to support our teammates and our customer.”

Lynx is a true next-generation, tracked armored fighting vehicle designed to address the critical challenges of the future battlefield. Lynx provides an overmatch advantage for soldiers, growth capacity to support new technologies over the vehicle’s lifetime, and lower life-cycle costs.

Raytheon technology offered for inclusion on Lynx for the U.S. Army includes the company’s advanced weapons, Active Protection System, next-generation thermal sights, the Coyote® unmanned aircraft system, as well as cyber protection.

Hoka One Arkali Trail Shoe

Thursday, October 3rd, 2019

I must admit, the new Arkali from Hoka One has me intrigued. Certainly, the last thing I need is another pair of shoes, but I have had good luck other Hoka models.

While still somewhat “chunky”, the to toe lacing is desirable for an approach shoe, and that’s where I’d categorize these.

They’ve included adjustable heel and ankle straps. Additionally, the sole is a Vibram Megagrip hi-traction outsole with 5mm lugs and there a toe cap to resist abrasion.

No specs on drop or weight.
