Brigantes Presents – Coptrz Webinar Response

Wednesday, January 13th, 2021

Coptrz are drone specialists who provide end to end solution, including training, hardware, consultancy and on-going support. Born from a commercial background, Brigantes began working with Coptrz, adapting the software and capability in the Parrot Anafi Thermal drone. However, what could be done with this drone in terms of military security was limited.

Step forth, the Parrot Anafi USA. Originally designed for the US Army, and manufactured in Massachusetts, it is considered a big jump up in capability from the Thermal.

But how does this drone relate to today’s military user?

Coptrz produced a drone Webinar for the military and the commercial user. Here Matt Williams, MD at Brigantes, gives feedback on the features of the Anafi USA and how these features can greatly benefit the guys on the ground.

All Byte, No Bark for Air Force Security Forces’ ‘Robotic K-9’

Wednesday, January 13th, 2021

SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. (AFNS) —

As a part of its one-year pilot program, the Ghost Robotics Vision 60 visited Scott Air Force Base during an evaluation of the robot’s capabilities.

Heading the test was Air Combat Command’s Agile Battle Lab. The lab identifies, validates and inserts new concepts and technology to enable Agile Combat Employment and its contributions to all-domain warfare.

The Vision 60 autonomous quadrupedal unmanned ground vehicle is an all-terrain, dog-like robot equipped with enhanced sensors.

“By no means is this meant to replace a real K-9,” said Senior Master Sgt. Marcos Garcia, ACC Detachment 3 Agile Battle Lab, AMC liaison. “It is simply a force multiplier and can even maybe save some K-9 lives. The experts in the field envision it supplementing a bomb team or leading a foot patrol.”

This innovative piece of machinery was created to be a low-cost, low-risk force multiplier. Ultimately, this program has the capability of protecting a life.

“The major selling point of this technology is that it’s meant to be expendable, whereas our Airmen are not,” said Master Sgt. Justin Hanlon, 375th Security Forces Squadron operations noncommissioned officer in charge. “We can replace parts on the ghost robot and get it back out to the mission, but the same cannot be said of a human being. The bottom line is this cements our commitment to mitigating risk to our Airmen and protecting them from unnecessary danger.”

Equipped with integrated sensors, the Q-UGV can capture a high-definition video stream and thermal imaging, and boasts an infrared configuration. The Q-UGV also utilizes legs that can attain a current speed of seven feet per second and has been tested to outperform wheels, tracks and drones for certain uses in the field.

“Instead of using a human being as a sentry, imagine a mobile sensor with a high-definition, wide-angle camera and long-range capabilities being controlled by a trained Airman from the safety and security of a Base Defense Operations Center or a Theatre Operations Center in both a garrison or contested environment,” Hanlon said.

During the evaluation at Scott AFB, the ABL sought the insight of force professionals on improvements to the robotic K-9.

“We are a team of motivated innovators and know we have many talented Airmen with great ideas,” Garcia said. “We want to harvest those great ideas and bring them to fruition so we can bring our Air Force into the future.”

While the implementation of this technology is still in its infancy, it has the latent ability to bring the Air Force into a new era of warfighting.

“The ghost robot has potential to aid the enterprise in getting away from the past where we had Airmen walk wingtip to wingtip on flying assets,” Hanlon said. “We can employ our manpower smarter and more efficiently and this may be a small step to that competency.”

As the Air Force looks to close gaps and move towards Agile Combat Employment and Joint All Domain Command and Control, the use of new innovative technology like the Q-UGV may become common across military installations as we seek to enhance mission effectiveness.

New Radio Models, Waveform Features Provide Superior Tools to Mitigate Electronic Warfare Threats

Los Angeles, California (January 6, 2021) – Silvus Technologies, Inc. (“Silvus”) today announced the release of its newest radio models and waveform features designed to deliver reliable performance in congested and contested environments for an expanded variety of missions.

The release of the StreamCaster Lite 4200 (SL4200) represents not only the newest addition to the StreamCaster line, but also the smallest and lightest radio Silvus has ever offered. Designed for applications that are size, weight, and power (SWaP) or cost constrained, the SL4200 leverages Silvus’ Mobile Networked MIMO (MN-MIMO) waveform operating in narrowband channels as small as 1.25MHz.

Additionally, Silvus has announced 10W and 20W versions of the existing StreamCaster 4200 (SC4200) and StreamCaster 4400 (SC4400). Offering increased output power without an increase in size or weight, these high-power models are intended to deliver extended performance for long range applications.

Silvus has also expanded the capabilities of its Mobile Networked MIMO (MN-MIMO) waveform, with Spectrum Monitoring now included free on all SC4200 and SC4400 models. Additional MN-MIMO features include MANET Interference Avoidance (MAN-IA) and MANET Interference Cancellation (MAN-IC). The highest tier offering, the Spectrum Dominance Package, includes other Anti-Jam, LPI, and LPD features, and will be available to US Government end users only in early 2021.

“Backed by our leading MN-MIMO waveform, the expansion of the StreamCaster radio line marks a significant addition to the tactical communications environment,” said Jimi Henderson, Silvus Vice President of Sales. “Rounding out our suite of available products and licensable software options will allow us to deliver robust and reliable wireless communications for a wider variety of mission scenarios, providing Silvus users with capability overmatch in the spectrum domain.”

The SL4200 is immediately available, with 10W and 20W versions of the SC4200 and SC4400, and Spectrum Dominance waveform features being released later in the year. For more information on StreamCaster radios or to request a demo, visit silvustechnologies.com or email info@silvustechnologies.com.
