This DroneOptID quarterly firmware release expands the reliability, accuracy, and functionality of a critical piece of technology.”

PEO Soldier Delivers CTAPS to Two Brigade Combat Teams in the Arctic

Tuesday, February 28th, 2023

Project Manager Soldier Survivability (PM-SSV) began the issuing of the Cold Temperature and Artic Protection Systems (CTAPS) system to two Brigade Combat Teams (BCT) of the 11th Airborne Division at Ft. Wainwright and Anchorage, AK on February 13, 2023. Soldier feedback on CTAPS will inform the Army’s next generation Cold Weather Clothing System requirement for protection in extreme cold weather operating environments, with a more modular, adaptable, and packable system.

PM-SSV in conjunction with the DEVCOM Natick Soldier Center worked tirelessly to fulfill the June 2022 Army directed requirement to outfit soldiers in Alaska in support of winter field training exercises, inform the Army long-term requirement for Arctic Clothing and provide the 11th Airborne Division with this improved interim capability.

CTAPS allows soldiers to effectively operate and sustain combat operations in extreme conditions increasing their ability to fight is temperatures as low as -65 degrees Fahrenheit.

The team transitioned the CTAPS from Science & Technology to production and began delivering CTAPS to the 11th Airborne Division within six months of receiving the Directed Requirement.  This included transitioning three novel materials to production that had never been produced in large quantities by the industrial base, establishing production contracts with multiple vendors, and ramping up the entire supply chain to support this effort.  Currently vendors are producing between 250-400 sets of CTAPS per day and 300-500 soldiers are being issued CTAPS every day.

USMC Scout Sniper Association Annual Sweepstakes

Tuesday, February 28th, 2023

FOR FOURTEEN YEARS, USMC Scout Sniper Association has offered the public the opportunity to win some of the finest and most authentic clones of US Marine Corps sniper rifles ever seen. Built and donated by our tremendous supporters in the shooting sports industry, these “0317 Day” raffles raised much-needed funds for our programs that continue to support the families of our fallen Marines, provide assistance to our Scout Snipers in transition and recognize the dedication and achievements of our active-duty Marine Scout Snipers.

From the Vietnam-era Winchester Model 70 that Bret won in 2022 and the authentic Mk13 Mod7 package Rad took home in 2020, to the entire M40-series of Marine Corps sniper rifles going back to the beginning, we’ve offered an example of every sniper rifle used by Marines from the Vietnam-era to the present day.

These raffles have been great fundraisers for our charitable programs, but they have also served as an important history lesson about the weapons and the men who carried them in service to our country.

The sad fact is the parts and components required to build an accurate M40 series clone are becoming more scarce and much more valuable. While it’s still possible to build a good clone, it’s not realistic to expect a donor to part with such valuable, original gun parts. So, we’ve decided to change up our offerings a bit.

We’re going to focus on great modern rifles that anyone would be proud to own

for a variety of uses, from hunting and competition, to hard use on the job.

We can’t think of a better rifle to start with than KMW’s Zealot in .308!

We’ve made our raffles available to the shooting public for 14 years, and that will not change as we transition to a sweepstakes. In fact, most of our 0317 Day raffle rifles have been won by folks outside of our Scout Sniper community. The support we’ve seen from military families, hunters, shooters, collectors and gun enthusiasts everywhere has been absolutely tremendous, so…

Smith & Wesson Releases New 9mm Pistol Carbine: Introducing the M&P FPC

Tuesday, February 28th, 2023

SPRINGFIELD, MA., (2/28/2023) – Smith & Wesson Brands, Inc. (NASDAQ Global Select: SWBI), a leader in firearm manufacturing and design, is proud to introduce its new folding pistol carbine, the M&P FPC.

Chambered in 9mm, the optics-ready FPC has a length of 30 inches and a compact folded length of 16 inches. It comes equipped with three double-stack M&P pistol magazines, including one 17-round and two 23-round mags. This new carbine features an integrated recoil buffer system, -28 threaded muzzle, and in-stock magazine storage for making reloading fast and efficient. The horizontal folding mechanism of the FPC provides a locking latch to enable secured transport and prevents interference with most top-mounted optics or accessories.

“The team at Smith & Wesson aimed to design a pistol carbine that was compatible with various M&P series pistol magazines. We exceeded that initial desire by introducing side-folding mechanics that deliver a unique compact feature and allow the user to keep their sight system mounted on the gun both in the folded and extended positions. Extra magazine storage in the buttstock, familiar M&P fire controls and reliable palmswell grip adaptors all make this new pistol carbine a great addition to the M&P family,” said John Myles, Senior Manager of New Products.

Additional features include a handguard with an upper Picatinny rail and M-LOK slots for accessory mounting capabilities, a flat-face trigger design that offers a crisp single-action trigger break, and four interchangeable palmswells for maximum comfort. The M&P FPC also comes with a carrying bag designed with multiple Velcro storage compartments to secure additional equipment for easy transport. This new folding pistol carbine is proudly made in the U.S.A. and has an MSRP of $659.00.

Enforce Tac 23 – Operator Jacket by Tilak

Tuesday, February 28th, 2023

Featuring three different fabrics, the Operator jacket from Tilak is a level 5 garment. Combining design and materials, the fabrics are mapped on the garment to get the most out of their properties.

For example, the shoulders feature a four-way stretch fabric while the elbows incorporate a high tenacity fabric for abrasion resistance. The body of the Operator is also a stretch fabric but with a much lower Spandex content and has a great balance of breathability. Additionally, all fabrics are DWR treated, making the garment weather resistant.

The shoulder pockets are an entirely new design with the zippered openings following the vertical line between shoulder and arm making them very easy to open and close. Inside the shoulder pockets is a second pocket to keep certain items handy.

It also features a hood and two large chest mounted zippered pockets along with zippered ventilation at the armpits and adjustable cuffs.

In Europe’s temperate climate, you can assuredly wear the Operator jacket all year long. Suitability throughout the year may vary in other climes.

Tilak plans to add a pant to complement the Operator jacket.

Currently offered in three colors: MultiCam, Black and two-tone Grey and Foliage, sizes Small – XXLarge.

Designed and manufactured in the Czech Republic by www.MIGbyTilak.cz.
