CTOMS Academy – A Digital Approach to Training Tactical and Emergency Trauma Care

Monday, April 29th, 2024

CTOMS™ has been a provider of tactical and emergency trauma care training to military, police, and specialty units for almost 20 years. We have taken our deep understanding of this topic and made it accessible with our online learning platform CTOMS Academy™. Here CTOMS™ provides basic to advanced trauma care that is available anytime, anywhere there is internet, and at a price that allows for broad adoption. In our view, the more service personnel and civilians equipped with tactical and emergency trauma care training, the better.

Although additional reading is often provided with the courses, this training is not composed of handouts or slide shows. One of our goals while creating Academy courses is to leverage technology to make the content immersive and conducive to understanding.

CTOMS Academy™ has courses appropriate for medics and non-medics, service personnel and civilians, in both tactical and emergency casualty approaches. TNVC Partners with Envision Technology: MARS (Miniature Advanced Rangefinder System) Family, MARS-Lc (Light, Commercial) In-Stock Now!

Monday, April 29th, 2024

Redlands, California

TNVC is extremely proud and extremely pleased to announce that we have partnered with Envision Technology, LLC of Manchester, New Hampshire as a stocking distributor of the MARS Miniature Advanced Rangefinder System family, starting with the MARS-Lc (MARS–Light, Commercial), in-stock and ready to ship now with a retail cost of $9,725!

tnvc.com/shop/envision-technology-mars-lc-commercial-laser-range-finder-lrf

While Envision Technology, founded in 2019 in Manchester, New Hampshire is not a household name to most consumers and even many end-users, the team behind Envision includes some of the most brilliant minds and most experienced and well-respected designers, engineers, and staff in the entire Night Vision / Visual Augmentation Systems and some of them have touched the lives of every professional night vision user since the days when the AN/PAQ-4 reigned supreme.

In their own, more modest words, Envision was “founded on the principles of listening to the user’s needs, developing innovative products with an understanding of those needs, and focusing on a streamlined development and manufacturing philosophy… and recognize that our success depends on the mission success of our customers.” While the folks at Envision don’t much like the limelight, their products and services and capabilities are some of the most sought after of those “in the know” in the VAS and end-user industry, manufacturing some of the most advanced products and used by some of the most elite organizations in existence, and at the cutting edge night vision technology.

envision-tek.com

Not only will TNVC be a stocking distributor for Envision’sexisting MARS and MARS-L (as well as their corresponding, unrestricted* commercial variants, designated by the lower-case “c” suffix), but for several exciting new products currently under development expected to be released throughout the year and into 2025.

*ITAR restrictions still apply

The Envision MARS-L is a miniature, weapon-mounted, laser rangefinder, based on the architecture of the MARS Miniature Advanced Rangefinder System currently in use by US Special Operations Forces, and can deliver precision range finding capabilities with a >2,000m range using a 1,550nm Class I laser, as well as >3,000 on 30% NATO targets as well as an integrated Applied Ballistics solver as well as Bluetooth capability to interface with external devices.

With a similar form-factor and footprint to the USSOCOM LA-23/PEQ MAL/SAL carbine aiming laser and weighing under 8 ounces, the MARS-L’s extremely compact size makes it extremely versatile, allowing the end-user to mount the device in their desired location with minimal impact to the host weapon system or user interface, and the rear-mounted LED display screen can not only be adjusted for brightness, but the displayed text can be rotated to allow easy reading in top or side-mounted applications, and can be set for Imperial, Metric, or mixed units.

The MARS-L’s control interfaces and ergonomics integrate and combine some of the most popular design interfaces from different devices, and is almost shockingly intuitive to use, with an easy-to-locate and easy-to-manipulate mode selector dial, as well as three deceptively large and distinct feeling rubberized “FIRE” and adjustment / selection buttons that effectively allow the end-user to control any of the MARS family’s many functions and capabilities without requiring a sharp learning curve to get used to complex switchology and button press sequences.

The MARS-L also comes with a three-button remote that connects with an AN/PAS-29B ECOTI-style 7-Pin locking connector interface that replicates the onboard functionality without forcing the user to reach up to the device, allowing them to maintain both optimal device and hand positioning without compromising functionality.

Even the polymer emitter port-cover is an exercise in simplicity, ingenuity, and end-user focused design and flips to the side of the device, and capable of mechanically latching in both the open and shut position without putting excessive or unnecessary tension on a delicate rubber retaining strap, reducing both the chances of breakage, or unwanted movement / obstruction of the laser emitters due to shifting or movement of the emitter cover.

The single, laterally mounted CR123 battery compartment sits immediately behind the emitter port-cover [when in the open position], and again, is a triumph of human-factors and integrated systems design, being cleanly recessed into the overall device footprint without the need for extra snag-points and protuberances that cause the device to have a larger footprint than it may initially appear to have, yet it is easy to use and easily accessible, and positioned in such a way where it is unlikely to interfere with other weapon or device controls and/or require unnatural contortions (or foul language) to remove or replace the battery.

In use, the MARS-L also features Speed, Precision, and Rapid Scan rangefinder modes, allowing the end-user to adjust the way the MARS-L interprets returns to maximize effectiveness in multiple different environments and conditions, as well as haptic feedback during rangefinding, silently alerting the user of a successful return, and an output adjustable visible laser for boresighting–the onlydifference between the MARS-L and the MARS-L, Commercial (MARS-Lc) is that the MARS-L uses a 38 mWClass 3B “Restricted Power” red visible aiming / boresighting laser, while the MARS-Lc utilizes an unrestricted 3.5mW Class 3R visible laser–BOTH devices use the same Class I 1550nm range-finding laser, which cannot be seen by most commonly available night vision imaging systems.

The Envision Technology MARS-Lc (MARS-Light, Commercial) is available now for purchase and in-stock and ready to ship at TNVC:

tnvc.com/shop/envision-technology-mars-lc-commercial-laser-range-finder-lrf

The Class IIIB MARS-L, and MARS are also available for order now by qualified military or law enforcement customers by calling or e-mailing TNVC.

MARSc availability is coming soon… stay tuned for more!

Founded in 2005, Tactical Night Vision Company (TNVC) is a Veteran-Owned small business which specializes in providing industry-leading visual augmentation systems, modified-COTS solutions, and systems integration as well as training, education, and life-cycle support to government and commercial customers alike.

Arctic Mobility Sustainment System Tested at Army’s Cold Regions Test Center

Monday, April 29th, 2024

FORT GREELY, Alaska — Deployed Soldiers are constantly loaded down with gear, but nowhere more so than when operating in a cold weather environment.

In addition to their conventional weapons, Soldiers need to utilize heavy equipment like space heaters, cooking stoves, fuel and heavy-duty thermal tents to survive operations in the Arctic.

Candidates to serve as the Army’s Arctic Mobility Sustainment System underwent rigorous testing at U.S. Army Cold Regions Test Center, or CRTC, this winter with the help of Soldiers from the Army’s 11th Airborne stationed at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Washington.

“When they go out in zone seven operations, this is the new stuff they will be pulling out there with them to set up shelters,” said Danielle Schmidt, assistant test officer. “We went through a lot of changes since the test started up here all based on learning what works and what doesn’t in the cold.”

The system selected as a result of this testing will eventually replace the legacy Ahkio sled and 10-person tent the Army currently uses. Testers expected and coveted extreme cold for the multi-week test, with the interior Alaska winter delivered more than they expected.

“The whole time the test was going it didn’t get above minus 20 Fahrenheit,” said Isaac Howell, senior test officer. “It was good test conditions for what we were doing, but it was difficult on the Soldiers. Sustained movement in the Arctic day in and day out at those temperatures is not easy.”

On a typical day Soldiers would pack the Arctic Mobility Sustainment System sled under test with the tent, a heater and their basic standard issue items for Arctic infantry operations. The Soldiers would then pull the sleds in either nine-Soldier squads or four to five Soldier teams with CRTC’s test personnel led the way. Moving the heavy sleds across CRTC’s hilly tundra and thickly forested areas is challenging in any conditions, but particularly so in the extreme cold and deep snow of winter.

“Our snow is so dry and powdery,” said Howell. “You don’t stand on it at all, whether you are in skis or snowshoes — you don’t go across the top of it, you go through it. You are plowing snow the entire day regardless of whether you are wearing snowshoes or not.”

After a two-and-a-half-hour movement, testers kept track of how long it took the Soldiers to emplace and erect each tent and get the space heaters operating. Following a cold weather Meal Ready to Eat for lunch, the Soldiers disassembled the tent and heater and returned to their day’s starting point following a different route. Following a survey and hot meal, the Soldiers reassembled the tents and heaters and prepared to sleep in the long, cold Arctic nights, which sometimes approached minus 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

“The Soldiers were instrumented for safety purposes to make sure they didn’t get too cold or hypothermic,” said Schmidt. “If they did get too cold, they could pull themselves. We had noxious gas sensors in the tents where the heaters were operating as another safety precaution.”

Despite the hardships, the participating Soldiers gave high marks to CRTC’s test crew.

“It was pretty cool being able to experience that and see what all the new equipment is like,” said Pvt. 1st Class Tyler Worrell.

Blackhawk Manufacturing Group, Inc. (dba 80 Percent Arms) Settles Legal Dispute With California, Upholding Customer Privacy and Second Amendment Rights

Sunday, April 28th, 2024

Customer Privacy Upheld
Fort Worth, Texas — Blackhawk Manufacturing Group, Inc. (BMG) has successfully resolved our prolonged legal dispute with the State of California, initiated in August 2021 in San Francisco by Chesa Boudin, the former SF District Attorney who was later ousted by San Francisco voters in a 2022 recall election. The state wrongfully alleged that 80% frames and receivers sold by our company were firearms. This case has now come to a close after intense litigation. Our refusal to disclose customer data, even in the face of substantial legal costs to keep customer data private, underscores our dedication to privacy.

Throughout this challenging period, BMG has consistently upheld its principles, dedicating over 2.5 million dollars toward legal expenses aimed at safeguarding customer information from the State of California. To further ensure our customers’ confidentiality and to end ever-climbing litigation expenses, a settlement of $500,000 was reached to end this abusive litigation.

Resuming California Sales and Advocacy
We are pleased to announce that, following this settlement, we will resume offering products to our customers in California that comply with current state and federal laws. We continue to vigorously defend Second Amendment rights, with our case, VanDerStok et. al. v. Garland, set to be heard by the Supreme Court of the United States this October.

About Blackhawk Manufacturing Group
Blackhawk Manufacturing Group, dba 80 Percent Arms, is a leader in pro-Second Amendment legal actions against overregulation and the preeminent manufacturer of 80% lowers and jigs. We’re committed to upholding the highest standards of quality and service in the industry.

Thank you for standing with us and we look forward to serving the community of builders for years to come.
