Steven Arango started a GoFundMe page to fund a bust to honor Captain George “Alexi” Whitney, USMC. Captain Whitney graduated from Bates College, cum laude, and then served in the 3rd Marine Reconnaissance Battalion in Anbar, Iraq in 2005. He later joined the CIA, continuing his service. In December 2016, Captain Whitney was killed in action while serving in the CIA during an operation in Afghanistan.

The bust would be created by Colonel Lee Busby, USMC (Ret.), who has sculpted numerous service members who have been killed in action in Afghanistan and Iraq. His work can be seen in the following video.

MIB²S SUCCESSFULLY DEFEATS 50 CALIBER ARMOR PIERCING INCENDIARY TRACER

Alpharetta, Ga. — KF Armory, LLC is proud to present the Modular Interlocking Ballistic Barrier System known as MIB²S at the 2017 AUSA Annual Meeting and Exposition in Washington, DC on 9-11 October 2017. Through innovative design and purposeful development, the MIB²S successfully defeats up to 50 caliber armor piercing incendiary tracer (API-T) ammunition while incorporating easy assembly, disassembly, and extreme durability. The MIB²S is the ideal solution for creating a rapidly deployable and re-deployable ballistic barrier system for military and law enforcement operations, training, and safety requirements. The objective of MIB²S is to provide a highly effective protective barrier for personnel, equipment, buildings, and other critical infrastructure in unlimited applications.

The MIB²S is specifically designed to protect against ballistic projectiles and withstand conventional and improvised explosive devices. The MIB²S absorbs the projectiles and the resulting increase in density amplifies the protective nature of the system. The MIB²S is easily assembled in the field without the need for special tools or formal instruction. The MIB²S are available in three threat ratings: Handgun Block rated for NIJ 0108.01 Threat Level IIIA; Rifle Block rated for NIJ 0108.01 Threat Level IV and UL 752 Level 9; and 50 Caliber Block rated for NIJ 0108.01 Threat Level IV+ Special Threat 50 Caliber API-T and UL 752 Level 10. The MIB²S are also available in custom threat levels and a variety of colors to meet specific mission requirements.

Military and law enforcement now have a Modular Interlocking Ballistic Barrier System advantage, greatly increasing their ability to safely operate in hazardous environments. If you are attending the 2017 AUSA Annual Meeting and Exposition, please stop by Booth #2753 to learn more about MIB²S.

Thyrm Introduces The CLENS

Saturday, September 30th, 2017

clens 356x475

Sunnyvale, CA — Lights perform best when their lenses are clean. CLENS provides an easy way to protect lenses during extended shooting sessions.  Like goggle tear-offs for off-road racing, just remove the dirty CLENS to return a light to its optimal brightness.

CLENS is a heat-resistant, clear polymer circle. CLENS protects the lens from carbon and other debris that can build up from the use of lights during firearms training. Also, extended exposure to carbon can permanently damage/discolor unprotected lenses. No longer will shooters have to apply Vaseline before shooting, replace a lens, or risk abrasion with lens cleaners. CLENS can be removed to instantly provide a clear lens for maximum brightness.

CLENS’ mild adhesive backing has a higher affinity for polymer than glass. This makes it easy to attach and position, without leaving adhesive on the light. Three sizes are included to fit a wide range of flashlight and weapon light lenses.

The CLENS is the collaborative effort of Thyrm and Sage Instruments. Aaron Cowan of Sage Instruments states, “We noticed the degradation of light output as a student progressed in a low-light class. They often struggled to get the light’s lens clean and that process took them out of the class for a period of time. We knew that this was the answer.”

“Our mission is to produce innovative products that address our customer’s needs. Like the SwitchBack® and CellVault®, the CLENS improves the function of flashlights and weapon lights. There is nothing like it,” said Thyrm CEO Andrew Frazier.

IWI US Is Phasing Out The Original Tavor SAR

Friday, September 29th, 2017

YUG1moW

With the release of the Tavor X95 and the favorable response of its ergonomic and functional improvements over the original Tavor SAR, one could wonder how IWI would handle having both rifles available in their product line. Well, in a not-so-surprising move, IWI US formally announced they are phasing the Tavor SAR out of their product line, citing a market preference towards the X95 that lead to declining sales of the SAR. This phasing out will occur over the coming months, with production shifting towards greater focus on the X95, as well as the Tavor 7, a Tavor variant chambered for .308 WIN.

Zenith Firearms Eliminates Product Lines To Support Roller-Delayed Blowbackcentric Business Model

Monday, September 25th, 2017

ONGOING INVESTMENT IN ROLLER-DELAYED BLOWBACK FIREARMS AND ACCESSORIES MANUFACTURING CAPABILITY

Afton, VA: Zenith Firearms has eliminated three product lines to make way for a heightened and exclusive focus on its signature roller-delayed blowback firearms. This move is the logical result of Zenith’s recent decision to change its business model from one in which it distributes a wide variety of firearm products, to one in which it intensively researches, develops, manufactures, and distributes only those firearms that comprise its signature line. Zenith sold all remaining inventory of its eliminated product lines, which include Tisas, Girsan, and Tedna, to Texas-based firearms wholesale liquidator CDNN Sports.

CEO Hanri Kaya commented on the new business model: “What we’re after is an undivided focus. That is critical if we are to develop the roller-delayed blowback platform to its greatest potential within the context of large-scale production and distribution.”

Zenith’s ongoing investment in a significant manufacturing capability began with its second quarter 2017 occupation of a brand new 84,000 square foot industrial facility, built specifically for firearms manufacturing. With progress currently underway to secure machinery and related assets, the Company’s customers, as well as current and prospective users of the roller-delayed blowback platform, can look forward to the following from Zenith in 2018:

• Introduction of mid-life improvements to existing roller-delayed blowback models
• Domestic manufacturing of new, hard-to-find, and 922(r)-relevant accessories
• Greater consistency in meeting consumer demand
• Service to an increasing number of law enforcement and government agencies

About Zenith Firearms: Zenith Firearms, Inc. is an Afton, VA-based, American family-owned company that works closely with MKE (Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation) of Turkey to bring the legendary reliability and design of roller-delayed blowback firearms to the U.S. market. Zenith is a BATFE-licensed manufacturer and importer of destructive devices (FFLs 10 and 11), and a DDTClicensed exporter and broker of defense articles.
