VIP Helmet Mount from Adventure Lights

It’s hard to find a SOF unit that doesn’t use Adventure Lights and, occasionally, you’ll see a VIP light attached to a helmet in one field expedient fashion or another. Up until now, there hasn’t been a purpose built solution to affix your VIP light to your helmet. This new mount gives a solid platform to mount the VIP light to helmet via Velcro. Additionally, the mount is available in two configurations. The one-way bezel will not allow the user to accidentally trigger a visual light function, while the two-way bezel allows the user to start from a visual or IR setting.

Skydex X-treme Duty Knee Pads

Incorporating their patented energy absorbing technology, Skydex has introduced their new X-treme Duty Knee Pads. They combine the Skydex twin-hemisphere technology with their Rez-Flex outer shell to provide 57% greater impact protection over standard foam padding. Plus, it’s flexible enough to bend with the joint. The rubberized straps and back of the pad are non-slip so they won’t fall down while you wear them. Additionally, the backing is a breathable mesh to help prevent moisture build up. An Elbow Pad version is also available.

Z-Bolt Trip Wire Illuminator

Available in Green and IR laser versions the C-TRIP Trip Wire Illuminator from Z-Bolt projects a laser line in a 60 degree fan which projects a 15′ line at 15′. It allows you to scan doorways, halls or stair wells with one pass to illuminate and fluoresce trip and command wires as well as other anomalies.

FDA approved Class IIIa green laser line generator, < 5mw, powered by one CR123a 3v lithium battery. Carrying pouches are available in ACU, Tan, Black or MultiCam. Additionally, the C-TRIP can be mounted to a weapon using their BTMK-10 system.

ADS Publishes a Great FREE Primer

ADS has just published a new document on their website. Not only is it free, but it’s about FREE, the Army’s Fire Resistant Environmental Ensemble. It is a Fire Resistant, layered clothing system, designed to protect the Soldier from the effects of flame threats while serving in adverse weather conditions down to -40 deg F.

In my opinion, FREE is a well built, well designed system. It’s only major issue, is the basis of issue. While the Army recently expanded the recipients of the system, it is still restricted to Soldiers actually assigned to operate aircraft or vehicle. This means, those who ride as passengers are not afforded the same level of protection as those operating the platform. During long transits to insertion points, whether via vehicle or aircraft, passengers are often exposed to the elements. Standard warmies including the issue ECWCS Gen III, are not FR (with the exception of the most recent Level 5 softshells). This oversight poses a danger to those passengers. I encourage the Army to expand the use of FR cold and inclement clothing systems to ALL Soldiers who operate outside the wire. They already receive FR ACUs, Army Combat Shirts and now Pants as well, so why not cold weather clothing?

OCP Side-by-Side with Ghostex Kilo-1

Yesterday we mentioned that the Ghostex Kilo-1 pattern had been adopted for use by the Afghanistan Border Police. As you can see, it uses a similar color palette to the Army’s OCP (MultiCam) but the geometry is different.

Afghan Border Police Adopt Ghostex Pattern

HyperStealth Biotechnology Corporation has announced that the Afghanistan Border Police (ABP), an elite division of the Afghanistan National Police (ANP) with a strength of around 20,000 has authorized the Ghostex Kilo-1 pattern as their new uniform camouflage.

You may notice that the pattern looks complimentary to the Operation Enduring Freedom Camouflage Pattern (OCP) currently used in Afghanistan by the US Army and Air Force. This is because the US Government stipulated that the new ABP pattern must have similar coloration but yet be distinctively different. This is so that the forces could work in concert during operations but would not be mistaken for one another in close proximity. Based on this requirement, HyperStealth was able to offer three different patterns from the Ghostex line the same day the request came in.

A Purchase Order has been issued and the first 12,000 yards of fabric has been already been printed. The fabric is milled and printed in the US and then sent to Afghanistan for assembly by Afghanistan citizens working for Afghanistan companies.

This is not the first time HyperStealth has worked with the Afghanis. In 2009, the Afghanistan National Army (ANA) chose Hyperstealth’s Spec4ce Afghan Forest pattern for their uniforms.

Ghostex is a joint venture between ADS Inc and Canada-based HyperStealth Biotechnology Corporation.
