ADS Warrior Expo Announced ADS

Monday, February 1st, 2010

I guess I should say “Warrior Expos” because ADS has expanded their calendar this year and will hold both East and West coast events. I attended last year and it was a great opportunity for customers to work with the ADS sales team in distilling requirements into solutions. User community questions about various procurement vehicles were also quickly answered. Additionally, clients were given the opportunity to interface directly with a variety of disparate vendors, all at one show. ADS also sponsored several seminars including vital information on FR garments. If you are an ADS customer, this expo is definitely worth the trip. Did I say it’s free?

Warrior Expo West San Diego, CA May 5 & 6
Warrior Expo East Va Beach, VA July 15 & 16

Out with the Old and in with the New at ADS

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

Actually, they didn’t get rid of anything except an outdated web presence. In fact, in launching a new site, they have made the ADS Tactical experience more pleasant.

ADS Tactical

The site is packed with short, informational videos designed to educate the customer on the wide range of ADS services. I suggest all Soldier Systems readers take a moment to check out their new website and acquaint themselves with ADS Tactical. In particular you should find the Industry News section very helpful.

Gen III ECWCS Pro Packs ADS

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

ADS is the prime contractor for the US Army’s Gen III Extended Cold Weather Clothing System. Up to now they have been hard at work fulfilling the initial push of deliveries to the Army and have been unable to service individual orders. But they have built up their stock and are now offering sales to you.

They have developed tailored packages to meet any need and at great prices. For example, the Mid-Weight Cold Weather Package would retail for about $680.00 if sold separately but can be had at over $180.00 in savings when purchased as a single unit.

The Mid-Weight Cold Weather Package is going to prove very popular so we want to give you an idea of what is being offered.

ECWCS Gen III Midweight Package

The Package Includes:
GEN III ECWCS Level V Soft Shell Cold Weather Jacket and Trousers as well as the Mid-Weight Shirt and Drawers.

The Level V Soft Shell Cold Weather Jacket and Trousers are made from a wind and water resistant soft shell material and come in UCP. The material has a certain amount of mechanical stretch. They are designed for use in moderate to cold weather conditions as a soft shell combined with other base and insulative layers.

The Level II Mid-Weight Shirt and Drawers are manufactured from Polartec® Power Dry® Grid material in Desert Sand. Intended to provide light insulation in mild climates and serve as a base layer in cold climates, they wick moisture away from the body.

You have to visit ADS Tactical’s website to find the right package for you and they have a lot of options. This offer is reserved solely for individual purchase. These packages cannot be purchased by units. For unit orders please contact ADS.

FAS Bag from NEMO ADS

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

The FAS (Full Action, Sealed) Bag from NEMO Special Operations Shelters is designed as a semi-disposable water-proof weapon bag that maintains the ability to put the weapon into action from inside the bag.

FAS Bag

The FAS Bag was designed to accommodate a suppressor equipped weapon and has heat resistant panels at the suppressor and ejection port. Additionally, the bag comes with a no-slip Hypalon shoulder strap. The shoulder strap is also used to tighten the bag around the weapon in order to secure excess material. A newly released version features a clear window for an ATPIAL equipped weapon. NEMO suggests that users practice extensively with the weapon in order to gain confidence with it before placing it into action. The weapon remains dry via a roll top closure that is secured with a side-release buckle.

Bags are currently available for the MP7 (shown) and M4 carbine. The FAS Bags are available from ADS.

Portable Seat and Tactical Storage Cover ADS

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

The Team Wendy Portable Seat and Tactical Storage Cover is comprised of three components; Tactical Storage Cover with Pouches, a Portable Seat Pad, and Lumbar Cushion. It is modular in design making it easy to install. The Portable Seat Pad has been available for some time and proven quite popular with military and civilians alike. Imagine the same type of padding you enjoy in your helmet pads but in your seat. It works with or without the Lumbar Cushion to accommodate body armor systems. You can see in the photo that it is removable.

Team Wendy Seat Cushion with Removable Lumbar pad

The Tactical Storage Cover folds over to cover both the front and back of the vehicle seat and zippers to the Seat Base. Elastic straps secure the cover around the vehicle seat back and non-slip Grippiumâ„¢ strips help keep the cover in position on the seat frame. While others have produced what are essentially seat covers swathed in PALS webbing, the Team Wendy design is unique. Stout pull handles are attached to the PALS panels which allow them to be “torn away” in an emergency. The PALS panels are attached to the Tactical Storage Cover via a combination of hook and pile tape and snaps in order to keep full panels from sagging during extended operations. In fact, this set up is secure enough to support up to a 50 lbs load in the pouches. What’s more, the tear away panels can be pulled open to reveal small storage cubbies. In addition to large and small utility pouches offered by Team Wendy, any PALS-compatible pouch will fit on the TSC.

Team Wendy Modular Seat Back

The TSC Set includes Tactical Storage Cover with both pouches, Portable Lumbar Pad, and Portable Seat Pad. The entire set is Berry Compliant available in Coyote Brown, Universal Camo, and Black.ADS offers the Portable Seat and Tactical Storage Cover. To order visit www.adsinc.com.

NEMO Gogo Shelters ADS

Friday, August 14th, 2009

NEMO has been producing lightweight, innovative shelters for several years now. Their hallmark is the AirSupported Technology which precludes the need for traditional poles. Developed by NEMO’s founder after his work on spacesuits and inflatable architecture with NASA, AST™ is a system of low-pressure inflatable tubes (called airbeams) and lightweight pumps that provide a high performance alternative to traditional tent poles. Airbeams are made of two layers, similar to a bicycle tire. An outer layer provides the shape, strength and puncture resistance, while a thin inner bladder holds the air. Feeling winded from a long day humping a ruck? No problem. Each shelter comes with an innovative pump that can be operated by hand or foot and will not over inflate the airbeam.

NEMO Airbeam

Over the last year or so they have begun to adapt their innovative designs for military use. In fact, the Gogo was provided for use during the REF’s lightweight equipment demonstration.

NEMO Gogo in OD

The Gogo is a single wall, one person shelter. It includes a pump and stores in a dry-bag style stuff sack. It has 19 sq ft of floor space with an additional 4.5 sq ft under the vestibule. It’s low profile design is perfect for tactical bivouacs being just 27″ high yet the 42″ width and 113″ length allow you to spread out. It is lightweight (1.9 lbs) and packs to a compact 7” X 5.5”. It features a quick set up (15 sec) and strikes even more quickly (5 sec).

NEMO's Gogo SE in Multicam

The NEMO Gogo SEâ„¢ (shown in Multicam) shares of all the same stats of the standard Gogo but features an extra six inches of length. It also boasts an additional side door for entry, exit, and ventilation.

NEMO tactical shelters come standard in OD, but can be special ordered in special colors like the Multicam shown with a minimum order requirement. All of NEMO‘s tactical shelters are available from ADS.
