FirstSpear held their annual range day just south of Las Vegas. This event coincides with SHOT Show. As in years past, they hosted numerous other companies, making it a one-stop shop for a variety of solutions. Despite the government shut down, attendance was brisk.
The 76 acre range complex where the event was held is owned by PFC Training.

The skeletonization of all system components in the Caiman Helmet Systems has significantly reduced the overall weight compared to currently fielded helmet systems, emphasizing scalability and mission-specific accessories. Like Revision’s other Caiman helmets, the Caiman Bump comes in five sizes, ensuring users are wearing the lightest, most comfortable, and most stable helmet possible. Moreover, Caiman helmets are expressly designed to incorporate electronics, communications headsets, and other specialized equipment needs—particularly, Revision’s recently introduced, next-generation circumaural headset, the SenSys ComCentr2™ Tactical Headset System.
The Caiman Helmet family includes the Caiman Ballistic Helmet and the Caiman Hybrid Helmet with an optional Applique that ballistically-enables the Hybrid shell. Additional accessories include two visor variants, one that attaches directly into the Wilcox® L4 Shroud and one that works in tandem with front mounted equipment and two mandible variants, one bump and one ballistic, as well as a streamlined rail system, an innovative liner and suspension system, and helmet covers.

This is the new Direct Action Pack for the PICO DS armor vest. It zips unto the back panel of the PICO-DS, or can be worn with its integral, low-profile shoulder straps.
The DAP-DS offers an expandable main bag, an upper GP pocket and a lower, padded GP pocket.
It can be expanded via side zippers and will an AN/PRC-117 when expanded. It features a single hydration port and dual comms ports.
I gave you a sneak peek yesterday of a new integrally suppressed 300 BLK Upper Receiver Group from SIG called the 300SRG. It uses the MCX short stroke piston architecture and integrates a 6.75″ barrel with a 19 baffle titanium suppressor.
Several questions came up regarding the overall length so I asked SIG’s John Hollister.
John verified that it is in fact, a single stamp upper. In fact, during development the called it the “one stamp”. The overall Barrel length is about 16.75″. Below, you can see the pin where the suppressor is pinned to the barrel.
John also told me the official measurement for sound suppression is 121 dB, but that was taken in the winter. He’s regularly recorded 119 dB.
He went in to tell me that it does leverage technology developed for a government program for a special customer, but it was not either of the programs I referenced yesterday, PDW or SURG. However, SIG’s submission to both of them leverages that same work 300URG does.
