This 233ci cutting torch system uses fuel rods promoted by pure oxygen. It features quick disconnect fittings, cylinder flow valves and a pressure indicator.

Monday, July 30th, 2018CMC Triggers displayed the S1-Wright-12 from R&R Targets. Although it’s a custom built design which has been used for 3-Gun competitions, this magazine fed, semi-auto, 12 ga shotgun is being evaluated by several SOF and LE organizations for breaching use.
I had the opportunity to fire it during Triggrcon Range day and it was quite controllable. If you’re familiar with an AR, you can shoot the S1-Wright-12. It offers the advantage of rapid magazine reloads (12 rounds) and ammunition changes. However, the bolt does not lock to the rear on the last shot like an AR. It was also fitted with a SilencerCo Salvo suppressor and I’m told that those currently evaluating the weapon use suppressed rifles and appreciate its utility.
The charging handle is mounted to the left side of the receiver and the top of the receiver features Mil STD 1913 rail.
The reason CMC Triggers was displaying the gun is that it is equipped with one of their triggers. During development, R&R Targets evaluated triggers from several different triggers, but the CMC AR10 trigger they selected was the only one which could stand up to the repeated hammering of the semi-auto 12 ga.

DSEI 17 – Atlas Devices Introduces Lightweight Assault Ladder From Pilot Innovations
Friday, September 15th, 2017leading up to SOFIC we told you about the Lightweight Assault Ladder by Pilot Innovations. It is now available from Atlas Devices. Weighing in at 18 lbs (8.1kg), the ladder extends to 18′ (5.5m). The wide rungs are spaced 15.4″ (39.2cm) apart. Although the working load is 350lbs (158.76kg) and intended for single user at a time, it can be used for bridging, although training is a must to learn how wide the spans may be.
The carbon fiber construction features positive step locks which are located under each step. Additionally, the ladder can be fitted with removable nylon shoulder straps.
Warrior West – Rocksmith Precision
Wednesday, April 19th, 2017Rocksmith Precision is making quite a name for themselves in building specialized tools for the EOD community. However, at Warrior West I saw their Rocksmith 30:1 cutter and thought of several other uses for this amazing hand powered cutting tool such as breaching and technical survelliance applications. In a show filled with awesome kit, this is the coolest product I saw at the show.
That 30:1 in the name means exactly what it implies, offering a 30:1 mechanical advantage thanks to the design which allows the user to configure the handle in one of two ways (seen below). I used it to snip a chainlink like it was butter and I also used it to open up 14 gage material used in CONEXs. All of that with my hand. Plus, it will go right through welds, unlike power tools. Additionally, you can begin your cut with a simple 1/4″ entry hole. Currently, they offer two styles of swappable blades. One is for chainlink and the other is for sheetmetal.
If all of that wasn’t enough, it is 7″ long and weighs less than half a pound. That’s the kind of a tool you don’t want to leave behind.

Detonation Technology – STS-6 Shock Tube System
Thursday, June 16th, 2016Setting a breach is inevitably the moment when shock tube turns against you. For a small interior breach shock tube (or NONEL) is manageable, only needing to be 12′ or 15′ long. But when large wall charges and EOD energetic tools are needed that standoff isn’t enough, and 75′ of shock tube can make an impressive rats nest.
Enter the Detonation Technology STS-6. The shock tube is spun on a collapsing mandrel in a hand held drill, then the clam shell case is snapped on and the mandrel is removed. An M-81 or other igniter is attached to the outside, and the “live” end spools out from the middle. It is virtually impossible to get tangled.
SERT – TRMR E2
Tuesday, February 16th, 2016Although it’s been around for awhile now, I first saw the TRMR E2 in SERT’s booth when I stopped by to check out the Sentinel Pack.
The TRMR E2 is a reusable diversionary device. What makes it stand out from others is that it has received a determination from the BATFE that on its own, it is NOT a Destructive Device. Available in 12 and 20 gauge, it can be loaded with Nitro Propellant (not explosive nor gunpowder), Magnesium Oxide, or Magnesium. Not only does this make it safer and easier to store, transport, train and use, but also makes it less expensive to employ since it is reusable.
It’s a two part cylindrical device manufactured from metal components. The main body is available in a number of colors including black, grey and blue. Each unit is engraved with a unique serial number on a flattened surface of the main body. The TRMR E2 design addresses a number of critical shortcomings against currently available items improving in key areas.
This new device helps familiarize operators with diversionary devices and is an effective audible and visual distraction with temporary stun effect.

In the UK there are four loads available for the TRMRs and ALL have been tested and classified as 1.4S (regular ammo). However these are months out before they will receive determinations from BATF. Loads need to also be determined to be non-destructive which will then make it easier for the procurement, storage and transportation of these by LE.
US loads tested last week have an output of 172db and 1.5 mil candelas @ 7 feet. These US loads already have non-destructive determinations so no waiting for that. In essence, the 20mm (12GA) TRMRs and these new loads will be made available for sale before the end of March.
Integrity Tactical Solutions – Mini Quick Saw
Tuesday, February 9th, 2016I ran into Integrity Tactical Solutions during SHOT Show in the LBT booth who makes their bags. This Southern California-based company actually specializes in breaching equipment. While they showed me several of their pieces of equipment, I though this Mini Quick Saw would be a great place to start. It’s a component of their extrication kit.
Yes, it’s a modified commercial product but its not just a paint job. The 3.9 kg Mini Quick Saw is a cordless cut-off machine with a 230 mm cutting wheel for wet cutting, suitable for indoor and outdoor use up to 70 mm cutting depth. It also has a spindle lock and maintenance-free beltdrive and is powered by a Lithium-Ion PRO AP 300 (18mins). Finally, the saw emits 114dB.
