Assault Plate Carrier in Kryptek Highlander

Monday, November 26th, 2012

20121125-222722.jpg

Check out this prototype Assault Plate Carrier in Kryptek Highlander produced by Velocity Systems. Kryptek is one of four finalists in the US Army Camouflage Improvement Effort and Highlander is their transitional pattern. The APC is a Mayflower Research & Consulting design, but don’t worry. Mayflower and Velocity work together on a wide variety of projects. Although this is a one-off, I’d hazard that it’s safe to say that this is a portent of things to come.

Word Notebooks

These pocket sized Word Notebooks feature 48 lined pages and come in packs of three. They also incorporate the Word Bullet Point System seen below.

They come in six colors including three camo prints. As you can see (from right to left) there is Duck Hunter which they refer to as “Tan”, a Swedish print and a MultiCamesque pattern that Word Notebooks calls “Traditional Camo.” I’m sure Crye will be impressed with that one. Made in the USA.

There’s a Party in My Pants

Wednesday, November 21st, 2012

Or maybe I was at a party in these pants. Either way, there was a party involved and I was wearing these pants. From a distance they look like British DPM but up close it’s a different story altogether. The Foxtrot-A Pants from Loudmouth Golf feature a rather interesting camo pattern but I wouldn’t recommend these for casual Friday.

New A-TACS Camo Rigs from UW Gear

Tuesday, November 20th, 2012

With over 25 years of experience making and using tactical gear, including military service, parachute rigging, and working full time in the tactical gear industry, UW Gear brings a lot to the table. Now, they’ve added A-TACS AU and A-TACS FG Camo to their repertoire.

THE AR or AK MINUTEMAN

The UW Gear Minuteman II comes in several versions, 5.56 NATO for the AR platform, and AK versions in 5.45mm as well as 7.62mm. The chest rig is designed to carry 3 x 30-rd mags, plus additional gear as required. The mag pouches are tailored specifically to snuggly fit the curvature of the magazine on both AR and AK platforms. Both styles also feature UW Gear’s Fas Tab closure system for easy one-handed access to your mags as well as PALS webbing on the sides for adding additional gear or pouches and a dump pouch on the back for reloading with retention, which can also be used as an admin pouch. The shoulder harness was designed to comfortably carry the load, and is designed to be worn either with or without an armor carrier. It’s fully adjustable to fit most sizes in either high or low carry styles. It is also designed to accommodate a hydro bladder pouch or small assault pack on the back, which nicely balances the load.

THE AR or AK BANDOLEER

Like the Minuteman RIG, the UW Gear Bandoleer rig also comes in several versions; 5.56 NATO for the AR platform, and AK options in 5.45mm as well as 7.62mm. It also features curved and tailored magazine pouch closures with easy one-handed access through their Fas Tab system. Straps are easily adjustable and the low profile design make it easy to wear with or without armor. Available in both A-TACS AU and A-TACS FG Camo options.

ADS Inc Hit 6000 Likes on Facebook – Celebrate and Win a Camelbak in US4CES Camo

Tuesday, November 20th, 2012

ADS Inc has just surpassed 6000 Likes on Facebook. To celebrate, we asked ADS to let us giveaway a Camelbak Urban Assault Pack in US4CES OCIE pattern. You can be one of the first to own a pack in this sought after pattern.

Since we’re celebrating Facebook ‘Likes’ we’re going to run the contest on Facebook. To win, you’ll need to start by giving both ADS Inc and SSD a ‘Like’. Then, you’ll need to comment on Facebook.com/adsinc explaining that SSD sent you and which US4CES pattern you like and why. For example, “SSD sent me here, I like US4CES OCIE Pattern because I like how it blends with all of the other patterns (btw, if we see that statement cut and pasted word for word, you won’t win). The comment should focus on which US4CES pattern is your favorite and why.

On Sunday 25 November at 2359Z we’ll randomly select a winner from the entries on the ADS Inc Facebook wall. The winning entry must meet all of the requirements. The winner will be contacted via private message and has 24 hours to follow up with shipping address. Failure to follow up within 24 hours will result in forfeiture of prize. Must be 18 to enter. Void where prohibited.

While Whiskey Two Four has its roots in paintball, this item shows that you never know where the next thing is going to come from. This version is made from NYCO with the half moon cuts inspired by standard issue camo netting. They are also looking at laminating fabrics for dual sided use as well as incorporating a geometric cut pattern to work with PenCott’s pattern.

This is a Kifaru Duplex Timberline 1 from the hunting line and as Kifaru has just received the 1000D Kryptek fabric, they should have pics pretty soon of a tactical pack. The Kryptek option is now up on their website ready to order in both the hunting and tactical line.
