This pant design was inspired by the vintage USMC Dungaree and reimagined as it would be made today with a modern fit and updated functionality. Featuring ample pockets for today’s EDC items, work-wear type hand pockets clear tool and pack belts, double reinforced seat and knees, a diamond gusset for freedom of movement, no-loss slotted buttons,  no-twist, custom made delta ring clip points, all in a clean, streamlined, straight leg silhouette and regular fit. The durable, 9oz HBT fabric is custom milled and closely follows the original vintage dungaree fabric. Built in the USA.

The Design and R&D Team at PDW states:

“When we set out to create this non-cargo pocket type field pant we immediately thought of the classic WWII era USMC Dungaree. This was a design that was totally dialed towards utility, durability, and field use. It was an obvious and great place to start. We built the fit around a modern regular straight leg silhouette that supersedes flighty trends and ridiculous cuts, which can be either too baggy or too damn skinny. While we began this style pant using MILSPEC 5050 NYCO, we always wanted to return to the original ‘HBT’ material as originally used. We finally found a suitable mill to source this 100% cotton herringbone twill and were able to use that in this design. ‘HBT’ is a distinct and durable fabric that can actually trace its roots to the days of the Roman Empire. In more ‘modern’ times, cotton HBT is best known in classic American work-wear and the vintage US Military dungarees and fatigues. Our pant style even takes its namesake and is in honor of the Marine Raiders from WWII. Everything about this pant is taken from the ‘best of’ in classic work and military wear but with our signature design and functional details for today’s modern user. Whether mending fences on your property, an autumn hike, tinkering on your rig in the workshop, to a night out exploring food trucks, the Raider Field Pant 100HBT has got you covered this year and into the next.”

The Raider Field Pant 100HBT will be available for purchase on Thursday, October 17th, 2019 at 12:00pm PT via their website, prometheusdesignwerx.com.

USAF Uniform Transition to OCP On Schedule

Monday, October 14th, 2019

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas (AFNS) — Trainees entering into Basic Military Training at the 37th Training Wing the first week of October were the first group to be issued the new Operational Camouflage Pattern uniforms.

When Air Force officials announced last year they were adopting the Army OCP as the official utility uniform, they developed a three-year rollout timeline across the force for the entire changeover. Last week put them on target for issue to new recruits entering BMT.

“Each trainee is issued four sets of uniforms with their initial issue,” Bernadette Cline, clothing issue supervisor said. “Trainees who are here in (Airmen Battle Uniforms) will continue to wear them throughout their time here and will be replaced when they get their clothing allowance.”

The 502nd Logistics Readiness Squadron Initial Issue Clothing outfits nearly 33,000 BMT trainees every year and maintains more than 330,000 clothing line items.

“We partner with Defense Logistics Agency who provides the clothing items upfront to be issued,” Donald Cooper, Air Force initial clothing issue chief said. “Then we warehouse and issue to the individuals’ size-specific clothing.”

After taking Airmen feedback into consideration, the uniform board members said they chose the OCP for the improved fit and comfort and so that they will blend in with their soldier counterparts’ uniforms in joint environments, according to Cooper.

“Right now, if someone deploys, they’ll get it issued,” Cline said. “And now that everyone is converting over to this uniform, (the trainees) already have the uniform to work and deploy in.”

Following the timeline, the OCP should now be available online for purchase as well.

The next mandatory change listed on the timeline, to take place by June 1, 2020, will be for Airmen’s boots, socks and T-shirts to be coyote brown. Also, officer ranks to the spice brown.

Switching from two different types of utility uniforms to just one, multifunctional uniform could also simplify life for the Airmen.

“I think the biggest value is going to be the thought that they aren’t required to have two uniforms anymore once they convert to a uniform that is for deployment and day-to-day work,’” Cooper said.

Polartec Launches Military Issue Collection

Monday, October 14th, 2019

(Andover, Mass.) – October 14, 2019 – Polartec, the premium provider of innovative and sustainable textile solutions, is honored to bring iconic, American-made, military-issue fabric technologies and finished garments a step further than ever before, directly to all Americans.

The foundation of today’s GEN III Extended Cold Weather Clothing System (E.C.W.C.S.)––the standard issue cold weather apparel system in the U.S. Army––is the Polartec® Military Issue Collection. This system provides soldiers with a multi-layered, performance driven clothing system that’s designed to be versatile and adaptable to varying operational and environmental conditions.

For more than a decade there have been GEN III E.C.W.C.S. labeled military garment designs for sale online and from select military retail stores. While some of these items are authentic surplus garments, it remains an unregulated gray area. Foreign imitations continue to pop up in their various forms, and even outdoor sporting and hunting brands have adopted military issue garment nomenclature into product descriptions.

Now available directly from the source, these authentic Polartec fabrics and designs are proudly made in America and shipped directly from the same U.S. cut and sew manufacturers that have been creating these garments since 2007. Polartec GEN III E.C.W.C.S. products and the Polartec® Military Issue Collection includes:

E.C.W.C.S. Level I Silkweight Shirt and Pants, the foundation of the modern GEN III E.C.W.C.S. layering system, made of a soft and comfortable Polartec® Silkweight fabric for versatile next-to-skin performance that includes fast wicking action and dry times, high durability and compressibility

E.C.W.C.S. Level II Grid Knit Shirt and Pants, the legendary “waffle” shirt, made of iconic (and patented) Polartec® Power Grid™ bi-component knit fabric, which maximizes warmth, breathability, wicking action, compressibility and versatility, while minimizing dry-times and weight.

E.C.W.C.S. Level III High Loft Jacket, the “smoking jacket,” made primarily of Polartec® High Loft™, the ultra soft and compressible fleece for warmth without weight, with Polartec® Power Grid panels

Micro Fleece Cap, small enough to stash anywhere for critical warmth, made of warm, highly compressible and lightweight Polartec® Micro series fleece in a durable three-panel construction

“We have long noticed veterans, active military, or even just the tactically-inclined reaching out to us directly, in search of these authentic military grade products,” says Polartec President Steve Layton. “No one should have to roll the dice on a blurry eBay photo or questionable shopping link to get a new pair of their favorite long underwear, “waffle” grid mid-weight top, or favorite “smoking jacket” design.”
