Safariland showed me their new Liberator HP which offers human speech isolation and Near Field Communications (NFC) wireless firmware updatable signal processors. What means to you is protection from impulse/gunfire noise and high decibel constant background audio, while advanced sound localization provides maximum situational awareness and sound detection.
Based on their Liberator IV and V headsets, the Liberator HP utilizes the same Glass polymer injection- molded Earcups and electronic hearing protection. In fact, it can be converted to either a single or dual comms headset. Better yet, it runs for up to 400 hours on either a single AAA or single CR123A battery.
Offered in Black or Coyote with over-the-headband.
Developed by two Special Forces NCOs, the Antenna Keeper is sheer genius. VHF antennas are intended to be used when fully extended. Unfortunately, they get in the way and are telltale signs of the user’s location. Consequently, many tie their antennas down with rubber bands, Velcro or other means. Sure, this gets the antenna under wraps, but it’s difficult to get it into position when you’ve got to make comms. That’s where MODTAC’s Antenna Keeper comes in.
It’s an injection molded modification which is simply installed on the Antenna. Adjustments are one-handed and the Antenna Keeper causes the Antenna to roll rather than crease. Slide it up for longer distance shots and pull it back down into a stowed configuration when you need the Antenna out of the way.
Over the years, communicators have rigged up various ways to communicate via SATCOM while on the move. Fortunately, antennas have gotten smaller, to the point where they can be mounted directly to a vest. That’s where things get tricky. You need to point the antenna in at least the general direction of the bird and its shape offers some challenges on how to keep it in place. There are also times where it’s preferable to have the antenna folded. We’ve all seen guys use PVC stuffed into PALS webbing or ziptied in place but that is a bit too rigid.
RE Factor Tactical developed a flexible mast which can be woven into PALS webbing on a vest and will accept most manpackable SATCOM antennas. It is flexible, but will retain the shape you select.

The US Army’s TCAPS program has been awarded the Safe-in-Sound 2018 Innovation in Hearing Loss Prevention Award.
At the 2018 Annual Hearing Conservation Conference in Orlando, Florida, INVISIO’s customer, the US Army and their Tactical Communications and Protective System (TCAPS) initiative, was recognized for innovation and prevention of noise-induced hearing loss practices. INVISIO’s hearing protection and communication systems have been at the heart of their success.
“We congratulate the U.S. Army’s TCAPS program on receiving this prestigious award, and for having the foresight for their leadership in the defense community regarding hearing protection. INVISIO is proud to be an equipment provider to the TCAPS program”, said Lars Højgård Hansen, CEO of INVISIO.
The Safe-in-Sound award, was created in 2007 by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) in partnership with the National Hearing Conservation Association (NHCA) for Excellence in Hearing Loss Prevention.
TCAPS, the Tactical Communication and Protective System, is one of the world’s largest military modernization programs for hearing protection and communication. Run by the US Army and PEO soldier, the program approved and implemented INVISIO’s product solutions in 2013 to reduce the risk of hearing loss and improve the wearer’s communication potential.
INVISIO’s soldier system is a combination of highly advanced Headsets and Control Units, that are easy to use and well-proven in the field. The system is designed to protect the hearing of soldiers on the battlefield, while allowing them also to maintain situational awareness.
More information about the TCAPS program can be found in this video by PEO Soldier, “The Tactical Communication and Protective System (TCAPS)”
Vigilant Security Services has launched a website that is dedicated to SATCOM antennas. It is geared towards U.S. Military units and U.S. Government agencies and allows the users to easily submit SATCOM antenna RFQs directly from the site. There are a variety of land-based, vehicular and man-pack style antennas available in legacy UHF SATCOM as well as MUOS SATCOM. The antennas listed are manufactured by Trivec Avant and Leonardo.
CEO comment
“Our efforts during the year have further strengthened our position and improved our market opportunities. The year’s successes with our own sales offices, contracts won, stronger relations with our customers, as well as an entirely new product category for communication in vehicles, give us a good starting position for the future. To enable the company’s growth ambitions the investments are continuing in 2018, but at a slightly calmer pace”, says Lars Højgård Hansen, CEO of INVISIO.

Tactical headset manufacturer simplifies the adoption of lightweight, in-ear tactical headsets to reduce neck fatigue
STERLING, VA (January 22, 2018) – Silynx Communications, Inc. (SILYNX), a leader in tactical in-ear headset systems for military and the market leader for law enforcement, launches its revolutionary Panther headset system.
Panther was developed to provide a simple means for operators to transition to an in-the-ear (intra aural) headset to reduce neck fatigue and improve comfort without having to replace their existing push-to-talk and cable routing system. Circumaural headsets contribute nearly 1-pound to the operator’s head-worn kit. Panther headset—weighing only 4 grams–is designed to simply “plug-and-play” into the innumerable push-to-talk systems fielded today.
“Law enforcement and military leadership is aware of how in-the-ear headsets can significantly reduce neck strain on their operators. But action has been impeded by time consuming and complications with changing out headset systems. “says Silynx President, Matthew Hemenez, “Panther was introduced to provide military and law enforcement operators a quick and seamless means of transitioning to an in-ear (intra-aural) system.”
By effortlessly unplugging their existing circumaural headset from their push-to-talk (PTT) unit and plugging the Panther into that same PTT unit, in literally a matter of seconds the operator can transition from one headset to the other. No adaptors or other hardware is required. This is also ideal for teams who want to standardize on a single push-to-talk unit while allowing operators personal preference on their headset — some might run intra-aural headsets others circumaural.
The Panther system is on display at the annual SHOT SHOW in Las Vegas, January 23-26, Silynx Booth #7310.
Panther is available through Silynx resellers and online at www.silynxcom.com
