DSEI 17 – Troy Introduces UK SP Side Pull Rifle

Wednesday, September 13th, 2017

In order to comply with U.K. Firearms restrictions for center fire rifles, Troy has developed a side charging, single shot rifle in .223. As you can see, it retains its AR looks. Interestingly, it’s fed by a standard AR mag, although, local mag capacity rules apply.

Here, you can see the fixed charging handle.

This rifle would also be compliant in several US states and they are taking pre-orders now.

DSEI 17 – Thales Launches F90 Modular Bullpup Rifle

Wednesday, September 13th, 2017

Based on the F90 Austeyr rifle, the F90 Modular Bullpup Rifle, offers a couple of upgrades. In addition to user swappable upper receiver groups, 14″, 16″ and 20″, the gas piston has been modified in order to pass the USSOCOM over the beach test.

You’ll note Picatinny rails at the 3, 6, 9 and 12 O’clock on the rail.  They’ve also integrated multiple  QD points on either side of the lower receiver.

By now, you’ve noticed that the F90MBR will accept NATO STANAG magazines.

Another major change is the ambidextrous magazine release just in front of the trigger although the weapon retains the rear mag release just aft of the magazine well.

In order to accommodate NATO STANAG magazines, the barrel interface has been modified slightly from the F90. I asked about M855A1 compatibility and was assured that their feedramps will accommodate its use.

You’ll also note a full range of accessories for this weapon system.

DSEI 17 – Revision JTAC Vest

Wednesday, September 13th, 2017

In collaboration with the US Air Force, Revision has been working on a vest for Joint Terminal Attack Vest. In particular, they’re concentrating on a baseline which Airmen can customize, based on individual needs. The base armor vest is a modified Crye Precision AVS and Revision is working on the power and data management. One of example of what you’ll see is a series of apps to control the various components and human interface.

Additionally, Revision ran me through their work on the next generation of headborne systems through the introduction of Sensys. Look for additional details soon.

DSEI 17 – Eagle Industries Ergo Performance System

Wednesday, September 13th, 2017

The Ergo Performance System is designed to fit any armor carrier system. Essentially, it offers standoff between you and the carrier and mitigates some of the energy from the weight of the carrier when moving around.

When fitted inside the rear of the carrier, it disapates heat, increasing air flow/ventilation by 50%, decreasing heat under back panel of the carrier by 12-16o F, and lowers abrasion points.

The Ergo Performance System is made from 500D Nylon, Dri-Lex and Squadron Laminate. It weighs 1.15 lbs and is offered in Black, Coyote and MultiCam. Part number EA-HA-CLL.

DSEI 17 – TacFlex Injection Moulded Blackhawk Ammo Pouch

Wednesday, September 13th, 2017

We found this 30 round ammunition pouch while perusing the various implements of destruction at DSEI. It’s made of four injection moulded components (front, back and two sides) with a bungee holding it all together. There’s even a barrel lock at the bottom to adjust tension.

Hmmm, where have we seen that set up before? The Taco has truly inspired more magazine carriers than any other magazine carrier in history.

It attaches to belts and PALS webbing via two removable connectors.

Also available in a pistol model with an AK variant coming soon. Look for an official launch during SHOT Show.

DSEI 17 – Cox Powertrain Offers First Look at World’s Highest Power Density Professional Diesel Outboard for DSEI Visitors

Wednesday, September 13th, 2017

Tuesday 12th September 2017 – British diesel engine innovator, Cox Powertrain, will show a full-size model of its game changing high powered, low weight 300hp diesel outboard engine, the CXO300, at DSEI this week.

It is the first time a full size replica of the CXO300 has been shown at the leading defence industry event allowing visitors to see how much the ground-breaking engine design and layout has evolved since the previous show in 2015.

Backed by the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD), the original concept of the CXO300 is based on a supercharged, two-stroke diesel engine. It has been developed for commercial, government and military applications, where performance, durability and fuel efficiency are paramount. NATO’s single fuel policy, which aims to completely eliminate the use of gasoline from military use, means that a viable high powered diesel outboard engine such as the CXO300 will be of specific interest to Navies, Coast Guards and other governmental organisations around the world for use on their fast response vessels.

Light in weight, the CXO300 offers the flexibility and convenience of a high powered gasoline outboard engine with the diesel economy and reliability of an inboard. The engine topology provides power-to-weight ratio comparable with high-performance gasoline engines, whilst delivering diesel fuel consumption and a package volume around half that of a state-of-the-art diesel engine. Crucially for military applications, it also offers much longer service intervals for heavy use, vital when lives are on the line.

Summer 2017 saw the completion of a strong line-up of US and European distributors for the Shoreham-by-Sea, UK based company who is keen to achieve this standard globally ahead of engine launch.

Now in its pre-production gamma phase after an intense development programme, the CXO300 is set for a 2018 launch following a series of trials and an extensive demonstration programme.

Those wishing to keep up to date with the CXO300’s progress can sign up online to receive Cox Powertrain’s regular news updates at www.coxmarine.com.

DSEI 17 – Helix Introduces The Suppressed Carabiner

Tuesday, September 12th, 2017

First off, I need to inform you that DMM has spun off their tactical lines to form Helix. Same great manufacturing, same great service, just a new name and a laser focus on the military and tactical customer’s needs.

IMG_3938

Now, on to the new Suppressed Carabiner. Like it’s name suggests, it has a lower noise signature than a standard carabiner thanks to a design which forges channels in the aluminum to leave room for a polymer overmould. In fact, it’s the same elastolam PU material used on their ice axe handles. Not only does this rubber-like substance dampen the sound when it bangs against rocks and metal, even the gate is quieter. Additionally, the material makes it easier to keep a hold on. The barrel is even moulded and works as an antivibration gate.

IMG_3936

This is a full strength connector, handling up to 24 kN. Look for it by 2nd Qtr of CY 2018.
