Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

Intelligent Armour Limited is now the official UK Distributor for Potomac Field Gear.

Regarding the move, Intelligent Armour Group CEO Mr Alex Bomberg said “Potomac Field Gear shows great innovation in product design and in research and development of its products, Intelligent Armour and its clients will welcome this innovation”. “What Potomac brings to the table will totally change what soldiers and close protection operatives wear in the field and will reduce blast and burn injuries.” We agree. With the Advanced Combat Shirt, Potomac makes an innovative product that not only addresses flame threats but also incorporates features to mitigate heat-induced injuries.

An Odd AUSCAM Sighting

Saturday, August 27th, 2011

No sooner than he comes back from the dead, Libyan dictator Gaddafi’s son is seen wearing a pair of AUSCAM combat trousers used by the Australian military. Naturally, this caused quite a stir in the Australian press. Good thing that Crye is working on that new son-of-AUSCAM pattern.

Austria SF to Adopt New Patterns

Tuesday, August 9th, 2011

It’s been over two years since we last mentioned that the Austrian Army was looking at new camo patterns. Starting in 2009, they began to investigate new camouflage for their Jagdkommandos. They’ve narrowed the field a bit and their new digital Mehrfarbentarnmuster (multicolor camo print) not only offers visual camouflage but also generates noise in electro-optical surveillance equipment such as night vision gear. In the photo above is the current monochrome uniform with three of the candidate patterns. As you can see, they are a curious combination of pixels and stripes.

According to Austrian Defence Minister Norbert Darabos, they are committed to fielding new camouflage. The final decision on which pattern(s) the Jagdkommandos will receive should be made later this fall with units fully equipped by fall of 2012.
