Long-Time ADS Employee Promoted To CFO

Friday, February 17th, 2017

Dunn-Rai

John Dunn will now serve as the company’s Chief Financial Officer

Virginia Beach, Va. – Company officials announced the promotion of long-time employee, John Dunn, to the position of ADS Inc.’s Chief Financial Officer earlier this week.

Dunn began his career with ADS as Corporate Controller in 2010, before being promoted to Vice President of Finance in 2013. He helped lead the company’s financing efforts over the past seven years and frequently represented ADS at investor conferences and lender meetings.

“I am excited to engage in this new chapter with the company,” said Dunn. “ADS is an amazing organization and I am extremely honored to serve as its CFO.”

During his tenure with the company, Dunn has worked closely with key vendors and customers in a way that has contributed to ADS’ success and ensured the company maintains the highest standards in financial reporting.

“With the company’s recent refinance of its senior secured notes complete, ADS has the necessary capital and is well-positioned for continued growth,” said the company’s CEO, Jason Wallace. “John was a key part of that effort and I am confident he will continue to have a positive impact on ADS’ success as our CFO.”

ADS also announced this week that Karan Rai, the company’s current President and CFO, will be transitioning away from his involvement in the daily operations of ADS to focus fully on continuing his role as CEO of the company’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Theodore Wille Intertrade, GmbH.

“Karan has been instrumental in assisting the organization’s expansion into new markets and geographies globally with the acquisition of TWI,” said ADS Executive Chairman, Luke Hillier. “He guided the company through a critical capital markets refinancing and I look forward to his continued role in the growth of our new markets.”

In his role, Rai will be responsible for overseeing TWI, a global provider of integrated supply chain solutions to customers primarily operating in the United States European Command (EUCOM) and the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) regions.

“Over the past 12 months I was heavily focused on our capital markets refinancing process and ensuring post close success at TWI. During that time, Jason and John have been doing much of the heavy lifting in running ADS day to day,” Rai said. “The ADS platform continues to be in very capable hands with Jason and the rest of the management team and I look forward to taking on a more focused challenge of leading our growth platform at TWI.”

BE Meyers & Co, Inc Issues Statement In Support Of Chuck Pressburg

Thursday, February 16th, 2017

Recently, a news release came to light identifying one of our contracted employees and brand ambassador, Mr. Charles “Chuck” Pressburg of Presscheck Consulting, in an unfortunate firearms incident. The media coverage of this incident is vague and allows for misperception. In addition to this limited reporting by the press, malicious speculation online is fueling and in some way exacerbating many inaccuracies in the story.

This incident is by no means indicative of the performance or standards that we know Chuck to uphold, and in no way impacts his credentials as a Subject Matter Expert on the topic of low-light operations as well as night vision and laser combat employment. He represents our brand, and we support him as strongly today as we ever have.

While this was an obviously unfortunate incident involving our brand ambassador, the details of the situation will come out at a time and in a method that are legally appropriate. While it would not be appropriate for our brand ambassador to make a statement himself at this time, B.E. Meyers & Co. Inc. and industry entities cited in this message stand in his support to speak for him.

I encourage the community to take a pause, know that all the details cannot be currently released, and to question the narrative provided to them by the Oregon media that has spread to the national press level. Stop breaking out the Jump-to-Conclusions Mat, stop trying to fill in the blanks erroneously, and start letting the facts develop. Let the legal system work, and come to your own conclusions in due time.

I personally stand with Chuck.
B.E. Meyers & Co. Inc. stands with Chuck.
Those of character in this industry stand with Chuck.

We are ALL, all in for Chuck.

#ALLINFORCHUCK

Sincerely,

Matthew Meyers

Magpul Announces Retirement of Richard Fitzpatrick

Wednesday, February 15th, 2017

AUSTIN TEXAS, February 14, 2017 – Magpul Industries Corp today announced the retirement of Magpul Founder and CEO Richard Fitzpatrick. Richard made the decision to retire in September 2016 with an effective date of March 2, 2017, his 50th birthday. While Richard will be retiring from day-to-day operations at the company, he will remain involved as a major shareholder and member of the Magpul Board of Directors.

Twenty-four years ago, as an enlisted Marine, Richard sketched the attached drawing for the “Quick Pull” for M16 rifle magazines. It was five years later when this idea was refined into the original “Magpul” and, in 1999, Richard started a company named after the original product. Working from his basement, Richard was its sole employee while working 3 jobs to provide startup capital for the endeavor. Today, Magpul stands as one of the largest producers of firearm magazines and accessories in the world, with over 200 products. While the company has grown, its core values continue to drive every aspect of the company.

Richard made the decision to retire in 2016 based on his belief that Magpul has a cultural foundation and a robust and talented team that can carry forward his vision for the company. In his communication to Magpul employees, Richard stated, “I want to thank everyone who has joined me in building something I could never have imagined 24 years ago when I made the first drawing of the original Magpul concept. Magpul has been the center of my life for so long, that I cannot clearly remember being without it, so this decision was extremely hard for me to make. As Magpul stays true to its published foundations, we will continue to attract talent, build great things and most importantly stay relevant to people’s lives.”

In preparation for Richard’s new role, Magpul has spent the past six months adjusting management functions for a seamless transition. Doug Smith will serve as President and COO and continue directing day-to-day operations and business functions, as he has since 2004. Duane Liptak, a former United States Marine Corps Officer with an Aviation and Marine Special Operations background, who joined Magpul in 2012, has been promoted to Executive Vice President and will assume further responsibility over Richard’s role in product vision and marketing. Mike Mayberry, who joined Magpul in 2004, will continue as Vice President of Product Development providing the same innovative design quality for function and aesthetics that Magpul has been known for. Brad Bennett, who joined Magpul in 2007, has been promoted to Vice President of Engineering and will continue to expand the Design and Engineering group, and Carey Ryerson, who joined Magpul in 2012, has been promoted to Vice President of Manufacturing Operations.

Magpul was established on Richard’s ingenuity and grew under Richard’s unyielding leadership and vision. Today the company is stronger than ever and will continue to grow and expand under the founding core values that drives every aspect of the company. Richard will continue to serve a critical role for Magpul, but today, we celebrate the dedication, hard work, and vision of our Founder as he enters a new phase of his professional life.

GAOS – Veltye Launches New Website

Monday, February 13th, 2017

Oddly enough, I often run into local companies while put on the road.  Case in point is Virginia Beach’s Veltye, home of the Hugger Armor Carrier.  They were manning their first ever booth at the Great American Outdoor Show, displaying some of their wares.

We were able to catch up and they told me that they had launched a new website.  Check it out when you get a chance.

One of the products that caught my eye was the E/P Keeper which is designed to give you a place on your gun belt to store your ear pro, keep them handy.  I have used a Petzl Caritool, but many look for something soft rather than the carabiner style.

The acquisition expands upon Federal Resources’ mission to provide quality products, create unique value, and capitalize on emerging and active markets.

Yeti Coolers and RTIC Reach Settlement – A Take of Two Press Releases

Friday, February 3rd, 2017

For years I’ve been watching people poo-poo Yeti coolers as being too expensive, while they go on and on about how great RTIC coolers are. The thing is, RTIC made copies of almost every Yeti design and charged less. You can do that when you don’t actually design anything.

In the course of time, Yeti sued RTIC. Apparently, they’ve settled. The difference in the public statements is quite interesting.

I’ll start with RTIC’s because, well, you’ll figure it out once you read them both.

RTIC IS VERY PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE AN AGREEMENT REACHED WITH YETI

RTIC, the leading direct to consumer online retailer of premium coolers and drinkware announces that it has entered into a settlement agreement with YETI today for the purpose of avoiding the additional costs and uncertainty of continued litigation. The dispute has been amicably resolved and as part of the agreement, RTIC has agreed to redesign only those products involved in the dispute.

As part of the Agreement, RTIC is precluded from commenting further, but RTIC is very pleased with the settlement and considers it a win.

RTIC had previously announced last month changes to its 2017 product lines and expects to rollout new products and updated existing products starting in early Spring. RTIC will continue to operate as normal selling all the RTIC brand of products as provided on the www.RTICcoolers.com website keeping true to its promise to deliver “Over Built – Not Over Priced” products to all its RTIC fans & customers.

Now, let’s look at Yeti’s perspective.

Austin, Texas (February 2, 2017) — YETI®, the leading premium cooler and drinkware brand, is pleased to announce that a binding settlement has been reached in the United States District Court lawsuits brought against RTIC Coolers and brothers John and Jim Jacobsen.

RTIC Coolers and the Jacobsens are required to make a financial payment to YETI; to cease sales of all products subject to the lawsuit – this includes hard-sided coolers, soft-sided coolers and drinkware; and to redesign all products in question.

YETI CEO Matt Reintjes stated, “We are extremely pleased with the results we have achieved. We will continue to defend our innovation and intellectual property. This is a true win.”

Further details will be shared as they become available. YETI is not available for further comment on this topic at this point.

What do you think?
