This Day In History – Combat Diver Badge Authorized

On September 7th, 2004, the US Army authorized the Combat Diver badge to distinguish graduates of the Combat Diver Course. Prior to this, SOF divers wore the same SCUBA badge as SCUBA qualified Salvage and Construction Divers.

SOFIC 2014 – Evinrude 30MFE

The 30MFE (Multi-Fuel Engine) is a 30 horse power model of the popular Evinrude outboard, used for years by maritime forces. This family of motors are the first outboard engines ever capable of running on multiple fuel types, including kerosene, JP-4, JP-5, JP-8, Jet A and Jet B as well as standard gasoline. SOFIC 2014 – S&S Precision

A couple of weeks ago, S&S Precision showed me a new life vest that was built specifically to integrate into their PlateFrame carrier.
It is easily added or removed from the PlateFrame and is designed to keep the wearer’s head up in the event of inflation via either cartridge or oral inflation valve.
SOFIC 2014 – Paratech
Wednesday, May 21st, 2014Paratech has developed a new maritime damage control shoring system. The current state of the art consists of centrally located wooden shoring that must be measured and cut to size. The new Paratech Damage Control System is easier to use, offers considerably more strength then the traditional wood method and is will not succumb to fire threats like wood which will combust. Additionally, there are no mold or mildew threats or corrosion.
Recently adopted by a European Navy, the system has been deployed on their ships in various locations on the ship increasing reaction times.
