H&K Announces FDE And Tactical VP Models

Thursday, August 18th, 2016

Columbus, Georgia – Two new models of Heckler & Koch’s VP striker fired pistol have been added to the company line-up this summer. New Flat Dark Earth (FDE) colored frame variants and threaded barrel “Tactical models” join the renowned VP family of 9 mm and .40 caliber pistols.

The new VP FDE models are manufactured using special colorants added to the frame during the molding process and are available in both 9 mm (VP9) and .40 caliber (VP40). The color frame cannot fade or chip and is unaffected by chemicals, sun, and exposure to the elements. FDE models have all of the highly regarded VP features-with the addition of their colored frames. Flat Dark Earth is a tan/brown color scheme that has gained favor among many military and security units in recent years.

The VP Tactical models (available in both 9 mm and .40 S&W) are also identical to standard HK VP pistols, except for the addition of premium grade threaded barrels -only their weights and lengths differ due to the longer and slightly heavier threaded barrel.

The threaded barrels are manufactured at HK’s Oberndorf factory in southwest Germany, using the legendary Heckler & Koch cold-hammer forging process. HK cold hammer forged barrels -made from proprietary cannon grade steel -are well known for their long service life. Similar HK barrels on P30 models have fired more than 90,000 rounds in endurance tests.

“Adding color frame models and VPs with threaded barrels is our response to the many customer requests we received on this phenomenal handgun,”said Michael Holley, HK-USA Vice President for Commercial Sales and Marketing. “Look for us to continue fleshing out the VP Series with customer-driven product improvements. The VP is one of HK’s most successful handguns. Its ‘precise pull’trigger is recognized as industry-leading. VP pistols are accurate, rugged, safe, easy to fit to any shooter’s hand -and they’re fun guns to shoot.”

Both the VP FDE color frame models and the VP Tactical models are made completely in HK’s Oberndorf factory in southwest Germany using all of the company’s advanced technologies for barrel manufacturing, as well as production of the machined steel slide, polymer frame, and all internal components. HK VP pistols are competitively priced and covered by Heckler & Koch’s lifetime warranty.

G-Code Scorpion Softshell

Thursday, August 18th, 2016

Today, G-Code announced the release of its brand new Scorpion Softshells, cable retention tool pouches built for rifle and pistol magazines, although they also accommodate other items such as lights and multi-tools. The full release can be read below:

01

Rifle. Pistol. Multi-tool. Flashlight. It all fits.

Versatile, capable and light-weight, the G-Code Scorpion Softshell is a tool pouch built specifically for rifle and pistol magazine retention and manipulation. A design that makes the task of reloads under stress or in a lull as instinctive as the gesture of pointing.

Cable Management. Magazine Retention.

A molded exoskeleton manages and protects the binding cord, minimizing wear and mitigating the potential for snags in turbulent environments.

The front “torsion plate” directs pressure from the binding cord down, forcing positive contact of the inner friction surface to the length of the magazine, with room to regulate the tension up or down.

Finally, the cross bars of the plate allow for Scorpion Softshell pistol pouches to be stacked on a rifle pouch, giving the end user total control of their fighting configuration.

Built for Speed

Weighing in at just 3.3 ounces*, the Scorpion Soft Shell is among the lightest available today. The super-tough Nylon frame components and the Santoprene molded Soft-Shell are rugged, durable and are moisture proof.

A flared opening guides a consistent, clean draw from and insertion to the pouch, while the inner surface retains the magazine firmly whether the end user is in motion or at rest.

* plus platform specific mounting hardware

Reaper

One Size Fits All

The G-Code Scorpion Softshell rifle pouches accept all AR type magazines, .308 variants as well as those built for Kalashnikov type rifles. Pistol pouches will, likewise, retain both double stack and single stack magazines.

Available as either a standard or speed cut, the G-Code Scorpion Soft-Shell pistol mag carriers provides the end user every option to best interface with the rest of their equipment.

In the Family

Launching with the Scorpion Soft-Shell series are G-Code’s new, patent pending, “R-series” and “P-series” interfaces. The R-2 and P-2 clips deliver a phenomenally stable and dependable mounting system that is designed specifically to interface with G-Code’s “Operator belt”. Likewise, R-1 and P-1 clips with PALS platforms (body armor, belt) and R-3 and P-3 clips with most other belt systems.

The modular back panel, integral to every G-Code pouch, also allows the Scorpion Softshell line to dock with the entire family of G-Code accessories.

Made in the USA

Available in black, coyote tan, green and gray as well as a series of custom color pairing designed to match camouflage offerings in use by the US Military, Law Enforcement and our allies.

Each G-Code Scorpion Soft-Shell pouch is backed not only by G-Code’s Life-Time Warranty, but the Company’s reputation for quality.

Kopis Mobile – FastForm Apps

Wednesday, August 17th, 2016

KOPIS MOBILE INVENTS A TIME MACHINE

Well, it is not exactly like the one in Back To The Future. It won’t really transport you through time, but it will give you tons of time you never had. The warfighter has plenty of bullets, beans and boots, but what they don’t have enough of is time to deal with the ever-increasing mountain of administrative tasks on their plates.

Most senior officers think that because of digitization, their troops are getting more productive because of less paperwork. Actually the opposite is happening. Despite all of the digitization, they now have more paperwork than ever. Research conducted by the American Action Forum revealed a 47.8% increase in just the last 20 years alone.

Kopis is helping give time back to the warfighter with their family of FastForm Apps. Produced about a year ago, FastForm 1306 is a mobile system that significantly cuts down the time it takes to create jump manifests. It digitally manifests a jumper quickly and generates a 100% accurate jump manifest form for the jumpmaster. http://4ksolutions.com/4k-supports-paratroopers-at-fort-bragg/

The just released FastForm Readiness app is a time and money saver as well. It tracks individual warfighter’s medical, dental and OER/NCOER. The app provides senior leaders with instant notifications if a qualification is about to lapse or already has and creates the form DA Form 1379. Among its many features, it generates an email that can be sent to the warfighter notifying them what the deficiency is, how to fix it and what will happen if it is not taken care of. It can also create and send emails to chow halls and billeting offices to cancel reservations so charges aren’t incurred for not showing up, saving an organization thousand of dollars annually.

These two products, and all of Kopis’s other products for that matter, were created via their proprietary diagnostic system. Their engineers and SMEs spend a few days interviewing multiple levels of leadership in a military organization in order to discover what their pain points are. They then produce software and/or hardware that will help reduce inefficiencies and generate cost savings. With this approach, Kopis puts the warfighter at the center of their product development and gives them direct input into the products they ultimately end up with.

CJ Buck Inducted Into Cutlery Hall of Fame

Tuesday, August 16th, 2016

Co-Founder and President of the American Knife & Tool Institute Honored for His Contributions to the Knife Community

CJ Buck, CEO and Chairman of Buck Knives, Inc., Post Falls, Idaho, was recently honored for his extraordinary service and contribution to the knife community. He was inducted at the 2016 BLADE Show into the Cutlery Hall of Fame©. Active members of the Cutlery Hall of Fame elect an annual inductee by a vote prior to each show.

Hall of Fame member Goldie Russell, President of A.G. Russell Knives, and Jan Billeb, Executive Director of the American Knife & Tool Institute, shared how CJ Buck’s foresight and commitment in the formation and work of the American Knife & Tool Institute insured that a forum for the industry was in place to develop solutions to problems when needed.

“As an ambassador of the knife community and AKTI, CJ Buck has elevated the knife industry’s image to the greater world at large and fostered partnerships with labor unions, congressional caucuses and conservation and outdoor groups,” noted Jan Billeb.

CJ Buck challenged the organization to be multi-faceted and proactive – protecting the American heritage of knives in daily lives, promoting growth in the industry and encouraging the next generation of knife users.

“CJ’s grandfather Al and father Chuck, also Hall of Fame members, would be proud of him – the man he is, heritage he successfully continues and his accomplishments to ensure that everyone in the knife community can continue doing what they love – making knives and sharing them with others,” said Goldie Russell.

“The Cutlery Hall of Fame includes individuals who have had such a strong and passionate impact on the industry I love,” said CJ Buck, “and the fact that those same individuals have accorded this recognition to me is almost overwhelming.”

He added, “I continue to enjoy my involvement with the American Knife & Tool Institute and am so pleased with how much progress we have made by working together. From the closed and short-sighted 1958 Federal Switchblade Act to the visionary Knife Owner’s Protection Act, we have brought outdoorsmen and women together with the building trades in a frank dialogue based on logic and reason and not fear. We have partnered with legislators and law enforcement rather than just be adversarial and have brought about change in how knives are regarded. That momentum continues.”
