XS Sights Now Offering Night Sights for Springfield Hellcat OSP

Friday, October 15th, 2021

Fort Worth, Texas (October 13, 2021) – XS® Sights adds to its many sight offerings for the popular Springfield Armory® Hellcat® series with the addition of DXT2 Big Dot and R3D night sights for the optics-ready Hellcat Micro-Compact OSP.  XS sights are visible day and night, thanks to the company’s proprietary Glow Dot technology which activates even before the tritium glows, giving shooters a significant edge when it comes to fast target acquisition in any light.

“We continue to see high demand for our Hellcat compatible sights and are happy to now offer our Big Dot and R3D night sights for the OSP model,” said Addison Monroe, Marketing Manager for XS Sights.  “The benefits of our proprietary Glow Dot technology are recognized by new and longtime gun owners alike, and we will continue to roll out new models as quickly as possible to meet dealer and customer demand.”

Both the DXT2 and R3D sets for the Hellcat OSP are XS’s standard height sights. These low-profile sights will lower 1/3rd co-witness with the Shield SMSc® red dot sight as an option for backup iron sights and help users find the red dot more rapidly on the draw.

DXT2 Big Dot

The Big Dot sight leads the industry in size and has a self-illuminating tritium center surrounded by XS’s photoluminescent Glow Dot technology which drives focus to the front sight.   The V-notch rear has a vertical tritium stripe creating a dot-the-“i” sight picture and eliminating the possibility of confusing the front and rear sights in high-stress situations.  Available in Optic Yellow or Optic Orange.

R3D

The R3D has a traditional 3-dot tritium, notch and post sight picture. The rear sight is blacked out to increase contrast against the front sight which is available in bright Orange or Green. The brightly colored Glow Dot in the front sight is a much brighter color which differentiates the front tritium dot from the two rear tritium dots.

Retail Price: $110 to $132

All XS sights are backed by a 10-year, No Questions Asked Warranty and XS’s 30-Day Satisfaction Guarantee.

Brazilian Company InbraTerrestre Adopts Honeywell Technology for Military Helmets

Friday, October 15th, 2021

First strategic defense company in country to receive T&A level III-A ballistics certification

MORRIS PLAINS, N.J., Oct. 13, 2021 — Honeywell today announced Brazil-based InbraTerrestre has adopted its Spectra Shield technology for lighter weight helmets for military and law enforcement. InbraTerrestre, one of the companies of the Inbra Group, will be the country’s first strategic defense company to receive T&A certification for level III-A ballistic helmets.

Designed with Honeywell Spectra Shield, the helmet represents an unprecedented development for Brazil’s armor industry and is a milestone for Latin America.

“By using Honeywell’s Spectra Shield, we can reduce weight by more than 30 percent in our new helmets and defeat small arm threats at lighter weight than current materials,” said Jose Antonio Silva Pinto, CEO and CFO, of Inbra Group. “We offer solutions for helmets, vests and bulletproof shields that offer various levels of protection and meet the U.S. National Institute of Justice (NIJ) standard.”

InbraTerrestre develops and manufactures helmets to meet ballistic tests as required by NIJ standard 0106.01, ballistic levels II and III-A, VPO ballistic resistance of NIJ standard 0108.01 and high-speed fragments, in addition to threats at lower levels of protection. All products are tested and certified by the Brazilian Army at Marambaia proving ground under Portaria Nº 189-EME to ensure that products controlled by the Army are manufactured in compliance with technical standards targeting quality, safety, durability and performance.

“Honeywell’s advanced technologies are a result of the investment in research & development to continuously develop ballistic materials and bring these cutting-edge solutions to the law enforcement institutions across the region,” said Tim Swinger, business director for armor at Honeywell Life Sciences and Protection Industries. “Our innovations have consistently provided customers like Inbra with high-performing, high-quality reliable materials resulting in low-weight solutions for helmet, vest, and plate manufacturers to design next-generation protective gear for soldiers and service members.”

Honeywell’s Advanced Dynamic Deflection Technology is used in hard armor products to reduce deformation and structural damage by up to 40% without any decrease in ballistic stopping power. Even with reduced weight, the product series provides full coverage and protection from small fragments and bullets.

Pound for pound, Spectra fiber is 15 times stronger than steel, yet light enough to float. It has up to 60% greater strength than alternate aramid fiber. Spectra fiber is made from UHMWPE using a patented gel-spinning process.

Honeywell maintains an active Spectra fiber and ballistic materials research program focused on continuous improvement and development of high-performance materials. For more information about Spectra fiber, visit www.honeywell-spectra.com

UVision and Rheinmetall Sign Strategic Partnership Agreement for Loitering Munitions – Targeting a Leading Position as a Full Solution Provider in Europe

Wednesday, October 13th, 2021

UVision Air Ltd. and Rheinmetall have signed this week a strategic partnering agreement for loitering munitions. The agreement leverages both companies’ capabilities to provide the European market with precise, combat-proven weapon systems. The Hero family of loitering munitions will be available to European customers to satisfy contemporary and emerging operational requirements.

Through this partnership, UVision and Rheinmetall will offer end-to-end solutions for loitering munitions to the armed forces of Europe. Rheinmetall will take the industrial, technological and commercial lead for enhancing the capabilities of the weapon system; UVision will make available the Hero loitering munitions, based on in-depth technological expertise and operational experience. The parties plan to integrate the combat-proven Hero series into Rheinmetall’s portfolio of manned and unmanned vehicle platforms, launchers, battle management systems and armoured vehicles like the Lynx.

The Hero family of loitering munitions comprises several models. Designed for different missions,  from short to medium and long ranges and flight  times using various warheads, the Hero series of  high-precision loitering munitions provides  operational forces with combined intelligence,  surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR) and strike capabilities, allowing them to independently locate, track and engage time-sensitive, low-signature targets. These advanced munitions can loiter in the air in a clandestine manner for an extended period of time; locate and track the enemy; help to validate targets; and carry out a precise strike. The Hero system can abort an attack in mid-air; re-enter loitering mode; and then resume the attack, or re-assign targets, thus minimizing collateral damage and providing operational forces with unsurpassed tactical flexibility on the modern battlefield.

“Entering the market for loitering munitions is an important strategic step for us”, notes Dr Alexander Sagel, head of Rheinmetall’s Division Weapon and Ammunition. “In doing so, we are systematically pivoting to meet changing customer requirements and growing market demand. We aspire to provide our customers with high-tech solutions. Together with UVision, we will be offering products made in Europe for the European market to address growing European demand. With this partnership we aim to occupy the leading position in Europe. Building on our mutually reinforcing capabilities, we will also establish a strong foundation for developing new products together.”

Major General (ret) Avi Mizrachi, UVision’s CEO, adds: “Teaming up with Rheinmetall is a major step for UVision, which is meant to provide our operational customers with the advanced even greater technological advantages, along with European quick support and training abilities. By adding and integrating our Loitering Munitions to Rheinmetall’s vast portfolio of munitions, warheads, combat platforms and battle-management systems already in use by leading military forces, we can now offer many of European allied forces much broader and more complete solutions to their Defense needs”.
