DroneShield – Successful European Airport Trial

Wednesday, July 29th, 2020

DroneShield Ltd (ASX:DRO) (“DroneShield” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce it has successfully completed a trial deployment of its DroneSentinelTM system at a mid-tier European airport.

The trial was managed by Deutsche Telekom, one of the world’s leading integrated telecommunications companies.

The evaluation is expected to substantially shape the requirements for a large multi-million European airports tender expected to be released prior to year end. Whilst the Company is unable to quantify the tender more precisely, DroneShield expects the project to be material and will in due course provide an update on the dollar amounts to the market, when available.

Oleg Vornik, DroneShield’s CEO, has commented, “Airport market is a key segment for DroneShield, following high profile drone-related disruptions such as that has taken place at Gatwick Airport. We are now seeing airports, in particularly in Europe, mobilising their procurement selection processes towards wide rollouts of counterdrone systems. Each individual airport deployment is worth up to a multi-million dollar contract, including upfront and ongoing subscription payments, depending on the airport size and protection requirements. This successful trial forms a critical part of those selection processes.”

NDIA Joins Associations in Call for Funding, Extension of Section 3610 in CARES Act

Wednesday, July 29th, 2020

ARLINGTON, VA – The National Defense Industrial Association, along with seven industry associations representing thousands of government contractors, sent a letter July 24 to congressional leadership that urges funding and an extension to Section 3610 of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act.

Section 3610 authorized reimbursement of extraordinary and unanticipated government contractor costs arising from COVID-19. The authority for this provision is set to expire on Sept. 30, and funding has yet to be provided. As contractors continue to face the “ready state” workforce sustainment challenges that justified the enactment of 3610, the signing associations maintain that an extension and appropriation is necessary to support the continuity of government operations in the new fiscal year.

As companies across the defense industrial base continue adjusting to the changes brought on by the global pandemic, extending and funding 3610 is needed to support readiness and modernization across the Defense Department. The complete letter is available here.

Federal Ammunition Awarded $13.8 Million Delivery Order from the U.S. Army

Wednesday, July 29th, 2020

ANOKA, Minnesota – July 29, 2020 – Federal Ammunition was recently given a new $13.8 million delivery order based on its contract awarded in 2017 by the U.S. Army. The order is for 5.56 NATO MK311 Frangible Ammunition, which is better known by ordnance code AA40. This military-grade, training ammunition has a 50-grain frangible bullet comprised of a non-toxic, copper and tungsten powder matrix core, and a gilding metal jacket. It disintegrates into small fragments on impact, minimizing over-penetration and ricochet hazards.

“One of the differentiators of AA40 is the use of Federal’s exclusive Catalyst primer. It’s a lead-free technology that provides the most reliable, consistent ignition possible,” said VP of Law Enforcement, Government and International Sales David Leis. “Unlike many other lead-free primer formulations, Catalyst primers have unique properties that allow them to be effectively and safely used in service ammunition. Catalyst primers have been used in hundreds of millions of rounds of ammunition delivered to military, law enforcement and commercial customers to-date.”

“We have a long history of providing high quality specialty ammunition to multiple branches of the U.S. military. Their continued trust is of the utmost importance to us, and is something we are certainly most proud of,” said Federal Ammunition President Jason Vanderbrink. “With this, Federal Ammunition continues to demonstrate surety of supply, professional capability, the ability to meet all specifications, and reliable delivery on production expectations of our military contracts.”

Federal ammunition can be found at dealers nationwide or purchased online direct. For more on Federal ammunition, visit www.federalpremium.com.

CROFTON, MD – June 29, 2020 – Established in 2006, IR.Tools, a leading provider of IR (infrared) protection for the Military and Law Enforcement, first offered a ¾” infrared patch sewn on every military uniform in the United States. Shortly after, they became a leading provider for infrared technology, with passive infrared patches, markers, and shooting targets for night vision and thermal image operations all over the world. Tom Boyer, owner and lead engineer, jumped at the opportunity to add powered targets to his suite of high contrast passive shooting targets.

“We now provide our optics customers a one stop shop for all their thermal targets. Passive or Powered we will service them with a premium thermal target.”
—Tom Boyer, Owner, IR. Tools

This new powered thermal target heated with proprietary Fabroc® technology is nearly indestructible. Constructed with a rubber like material, it has no wires to short circuit from bullet penetration.  Powering up on a 12 or 24-volt battery, the integrity of this lightweight, heat-efficient target remains intact for over 500 rounds, with a consistent thermal image and no flaring to disrupt training exercises.

What makes this thermal shooting target so unique is its durability. Fort Bragg, NC, has been shooting at the same Fabroc™ targets for 9-years. And IR.Tools aims to provide this stand-out IR target to the military, special forces, law enforcement, hunters, and recreational sportsmen alike.

“The unmatched number of shots it takes while maintaining a clear, realistic image to shoot is incredible.”
— Range Manger Fort Bragg

Not only are these powered thermal targets necessary for training, but they are easy to use. Their longevity means they are cost-effective. Now you can have a safe powered thermal target that lasts during some of the more complex training options, such as shoot, no-shoot scenarios.

You can purchase the powered thermal shooting target for an MSRP of $60.00 – $90.00 at INV PRO TECH Tools.

Warren Innovative Technologies – Suppressor Socket System

Tuesday, July 28th, 2020

Since Warren Innovative Technologies, LLC believes in continuous improvement and taking things to the next level, we have developed a socket set that incorporates all of the features of our legacy full-size wrenches but with important differences. A lot of time and thought went into these:

– The sockets are smaller than the full-size wrenches and use a ½” square drive handle, which is available at hardware stores, plus we have our own lightweight compact handle.

– Sockets can also be used without a handle, but the option is there for applying serious torque.

– Sockets are MADE IN THE USA on a Stratasys F120 3D printer out of solid injection mold grade ABS-M30 polymer, which is considerably stronger than typical 3D printed ABS.

– These polymer tools won’t damage mounts or front caps.

– Stainless steel dowel pins are used on sockets that require them for certain spanner features.

– Each one of the sockets has dedicated holes for parachute cord lanyards (AKA dummy cords).

– The sockets can be conveniently stored on storage strips that are available at hardware stores (not included). Detents are on all four sides of the ½” squares.

– The numbering system with suppressor make/model key eliminates the need to update tool identification markings as suppressor names evolve or as compatibility expands (Kraken/Mod9, Octane/Octane 2.0, Omega 9K/45K, Sandman/Nomad, etc.). Only our list needs to be updated, which will be on our website.

– The web address is on the bottom of each socket and on the top of the handle, minimizing the brand footprint. Some potential customers complained that the company name and city were on the full-size wrenches, so the identification markings were minimized. A customer can have additional text laser engraved if desired.

– Sockets are capable of withstanding serious torque, which makes them perfect for use with Energetic Armament Vox Blox soft vise jaws, which are available in our webstore.

– If you break one, we will replace it – but that’s not likely to happen.

– Suppressors should be allowed to cool below 200? F before using the sockets.

– The complete socket set is available at a considerable savings.

– Our socket handle is designed to keep the handle’s axis as close to the socket spanners as possible, thereby minimizing torque coupling. The parachute cord handle enables quick ergonomic socket removal while allowing a firm grip on each socket type. A steel ½” male square socket interface is retained in the handle by a spring-loaded detent. The handle’s other end has a ½” female interface for keeping the handle with the sockets on a storage strip.

Massif Earns USAF Approval for Women’s-Fit 2-Piece Flight Suit for All Non-Ejection Seat Platforms

Tuesday, July 28th, 2020

Massif – a pioneer in making the best-fitting, best-performing apparel for all service members – gains new approval

ASHLAND, Ore. – July 28, 2020 – Massif, a world leader in flame-resistant clothing for the United States Military, today announced a new branch-wide approval from the United States Air Force for its women’s-fit 2-Piece Flight Suit for all non-ejection seat platforms.

This is further affirmation of Massif’s long-standing commitment to providing the best-fitting garments for all end users. Massif prides itself on purposeful clothing design with a high level of detail that syncs with the real-life needs of its end-user, for maximum performance in the field.

Over the last decade, there has been a steady growth of women in the military, particularly in aviation, with women making up 20.2% of the Air Force and 19% of the United States Navy (according to 2018 statistics). Massif recognized this growth early on and over the last several years has intentionally developed a line of women’s fit clothing that provides the best in comfort and performance for female service members.

“We know that for a team to perform well, their gear needs to perform well.  That means optimal comfort and functionality for each specific individual on that team,” said Darci Knobel, Vice President of Customer Experience. “We have always been laser-focused on making sure our clothes fit and perform their best for all end-users and have made a concerted effort to be at the forefront of providing performance garments designed specifically for women. Today’s news is further validation of our commitment, having already received approvals from the United States Navy for the women’s-fit 2-Piece Flight Suit, and approvals from all branches, including the United States Coast Guard, for our women’s-fit base layers.”

Massif’s 2-Piece Flight Suit was designed from direct end-user feedback across multiple branches and platforms. Massif wanted to enhance the capabilities of the modern aviator and aircrewman with innovative design features unique to its garments. The original patented attachment system in the suit was built to allow flexibility and movement between the jacket and pant while still aiding coverage in flash events.

Massif recently launched a short documentary film in their Massif Film Series titled “Love the Mission,” highlighting Captain Lexi McRobert, Operations Officer, G/1-189 AVN. Captain McRobert is a great example of the company’s mission to design and develop garments for women who serve.

“The days of women having to wear men’s uniforms are over,” said Knobel. “The example of Captain McRobert in our latest short film is a great one. Like nearly every woman in the military, she was issued a men’s flight suit. Wearing our women’s-fit 2-Piece Flight Suit allowed her to feel and perform her best. We are proud to provide the option for all service members to have the best-fitting gear to keep going and perform at their highest level.”

The Iridium Security Module 2 (ISM2) is a sleek, small form factor encryption module that provides NSA Certified protection of classified voice and data communications. The module is covert as it fits completely inside the Iridium 9575A handset and provides end-to-end security for information classified Top Secret and below. The docking station also enables seamless integration into existing Plain Ordinary Telephone Service (POTS) systems. Its small form factor and operator-friendly wall mounting make for smooth incorporation into everyday operations.

Blue Sky Network also offers a military-grade grab-and-go communications kit, aptly deemed the 9575A TOC BOX. The 9575A TOC BOX includes the 9575A Docking Station, external antenna, and a digital privacy handset in a ruggedized case for secure communications in remote, austere environments.
