New Tycho Hooded Down Jacket from PDW

Saturday, November 2nd, 2019

Warm, Light, Packable, Technical Mid-Layer Made with State of the Art Materials

Prometheus Design Werx introduces their Tycho Down Hoodie for Fall-Winter 2019. There is no better insulator known to man other than nature’s own goose down. The best warmth to weight ratio of any outdoor garment made.

The new Tycho Down Hoodie packs down small making it ideal to easily stow in any pack for wilderness pursuits. Made with state-of-the-art DownTek™ brand premium 850 fill power goose down that is 27 times more water resistant than untreated down, so the Tycho retains its thermal properties even if dunked or wet. Additional unique design details include an integrated stuff-sack storage camp pillow and detachable travel neck pillow, 6 pockets, a cozy brushed hood liner, and a 20D mini-ripstop nylon shell with DWR.

The Design and R&D Team at PDW states:

“Why choose goose down? There’s a number of very compelling reasons why down jackets are so popular and well used by the wilderness tribe. There is nothing lighter, warmer and compressible than a down mid-layer. Nature’s down is the most thermally efficient insulator known to man. No synthetics yet made can compare. When in the field, down jackets allow the user to be unencumbered by excess weight; when not being used, they pack down smaller than any other technical mid-layer and can be easily stowed in a pack. The one downside to down is if it gets wet. Wet down loses all of its thermal insulating properties. The Tycho Down Hoodie uses DownTek™ brand goose down which has been treated with a hydrophobic process to make it 27 times more resistant to water. It will even survive an accidental dunk and still insulate. This is a major leap forward in down insulated apparel. While down jackets were never intended to be rain wear, the Tycho along with its DWR shell will allow the user ample time to shrug off the first minutes of rainfall to grab a waterproof shell to wear over and not lose its insulating capabilities. It’s the quality of make and design details that makes our hoodie stand out and be the best in its class. We used premium 850 fill power DownTek™ goose down, a DWR shell, cozy brushed tricot hood liner, and expanded capabilities with its integrated camp pillow or detachable travel neck pillow. No other down jacket in its class has all these features.”

The Tycho Down Hoodie is a part of their PRO-Line of technical apparel by Prometheus Design Werx.

Available in Universal Field Gray, and Transitional Field Green.

The first limited delivery of the Tycho Hoodie will be available for purchase on Wednesday, November 6th, 2019 at 12:00pm PT via their website, prometheusdesignwerx.com.

Working with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s vast network of state and local chambers and strategic partners from the public, private, and non-profit sectors, the goal of Hiring Our Heroes is to create a movement across America in hundreds of communities where veterans and military families return every day.

Early on, the organization adopted two strategies: (1) grassroots engagement and (2) public-private partnerships. Through its commitment-based engagement of the business community, more than 1,200 job fairs held across the country and on military installations overseas, and a suite of free online career tools, we’ve worked with our partners to help hundreds of thousands of veterans and military spouses find jobs.

DroneShield is pleased to announce its handheld drone detection device RfPatrolTM has been assigned a NATO Stock Number (NSN) 5895661653374. Additionally, certain variations of the products and RfPatrolTM accessories have also been assigned their individual NSNs.

An NSN is a 13-digit numeric code, identifying all the ‘standardised material items of supply’ as they have been recognized by all NATO countries including United States Department of Defense, and allows for any NATO military to purchase RfPatrolTM on a “military catalogue” basis, significantly simplifying the procurement process.

NATO countries are expected to be a significant part of the global military market for RfPatrolTM and other DroneShield products.

The assignment of the NSN to RfPatrolTM was granted at the request of the Australian military following the $700,000 tender win by DroneShield announced 1 October 2019.

AeroVironment Receives $5.25 Million Puma 3 AE Contract for US Border Patrol

Thursday, October 31st, 2019

• Award builds on the U.S. Border Patrol’s ongoing use of Puma AE small unmanned aircraft systems for border and homeland security

• U.S. Border Patrol agents rapidly deploy Puma AE anywhere, anytime, in any environment for continuous or on-demand spot surveillance

SIMI VALLEY, Calif., Oct. 22, 2019 – AeroVironment, Inc. (NASDAQ:AVAV), a global leader in unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), received a $5,254,912 firm fixed-price contract award for PumaTM 3 AE systems and support equipment on August 8, 2019 for the U.S. Border Patrol, part of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).  Delivery is anticipated by January, 2020.

AeroVironment’s Puma 3 AE small unmanned aircraft system is designed for the real-world environment Border Patrol agents operate in.  Easy to transport, deploy and operate, the Puma system can be launched from anywhere, at any time, and requires no additional infrastructure, such as runways or launch devices.  The AeroVironment Puma flies for hours in the most extreme environments while producing high-resolution, continuous or on-demand spot surveillance of critical land and sea border areas at any time of the day or night.  Highly automated and with GPS navigation, the Puma dramatically extends the reach of Border Patrol agents at a fraction of the cost of manned or larger unmanned aircraft.

“Operating on the nation’s front line, U.S. Border Patrol agents deploy the AeroVironment Puma system day or night from a safe distance to scan a border area for activity and then use that information to respond more quickly, more stealthily and with less risk,” said Rick Pedigo, AeroVironment vice president of business development.  “Puma takes on the tougher missions in treacherous and dangerous terrain and keeps border agents out of harm’s way.  Border Patrol agents pack the system on their vehicles, allowing them to gain an eyes-in-the-sky advantage at a moment’s notice.”

The Puma 3 AE systems will also support humanitarian missions, assisting in the location of individuals in need of aid along difficult-to-reach border areas and responding to natural disasters.

The AeroVironment Puma AE is a fully man-portable unmanned aircraft system designed for land and maritime operations. Capable of landing in water or on land, the all-environment Puma, with its Mantis i45 sensor suite, empowers the operator with extended flight time and a level of imaging capability never before available in the small UAS class.

AeroVironment’s unmanned aircraft systems are uniquely professional grade and proven with more than 1 million operating hours, including in extreme environments and combat operations.  As the largest supplier of reconnaissance UAS to the US Department of Defense, AeroVironment offers a family of small and portable UAS that have been protecting soldiers, marines, airmen and special operators in the harshest environments for more than two decades.
