Crye Precision’s New Generation of Combat and Field Apparel Officially Available for Purchase

Monday, November 26th, 2018

Brooklyn, NY – Nov 16, 2018 – Crye Precision®, one of the leading suppliers of uniforms and personal equipment to the military, law enforcement and public safety markets, has announced their new G4 line, including the G4 Combat Uniform and Field Uniform is now available for purchase.

This next generation of Combat Apparel, from the company who brought you the original Combat Uniform, features the exclusive stretch VTX Ripstop™ fabric, and is constructed with Invista’s T420 high-tenacity nylon fiber, allowing the uniform to be light yet strong.

The integrated stretch allows for a more streamlined and slimmer cut with maximum mobility throughout the entire garment; with the stretch panels being replaced with the newer fabric throughout the entire document.

Pockets are low profile and engineered to reduce bulk while still allowing room for all essential gear. Mesh venting is incorporated for maximum air-flow and breathability.

The G4 Combat Shirt, features a set-in shoulder pocket with internal expansion and a set-in loop with a low profile pen pocket. Underarm panels are shaped for enhanced mobility, with darted sleeves for an ergonomic fit. The internal elbow pad pocket is minimal and lightweight, maintaining the streamlined fit without compromising functionality. Cuffs have VELCRO® tab closures, and the mid-height zip-collar allows for easy donning and doffing. The hem shape is longer in the back and the flatlocked seam construction at the side panels helps to minimize bulk. Enhanced fit and function are the top priorities.

The G4 Combat Pant features multiple pass-throughs to the low-profile cargo pocket to secure charges. The adjustable padded waist features a low-profile die cut VELCRO® adjust tab, and is lined with moisture wicking material. The front thigh pockets are larger (sized for a phone), mesh lined and have a secure zip closure; and a dedicated knife holder is included with a reinforced opening.  Tension and height-adjusters ensure maximum comfort and fit for the new AIRFLEX® IMPACT Combat knee pads; which are compatible with all Crye’s combat pants. This new combat knee pad provides impact protection exceeding EN14404 test standards and features a re-engineered flexible cap for complete freedom of movement.

The G4 Field Uniform also features VTX Ripstop™ fabric. The integrated stretch allows for a slimmer cut while maintaining maximum mobility – even under body armor.

The G4 Field Shirt, like the Combat Shirt, was created with maximum comfort and functionality as priority. Designed as a tailored utility shirt, the chest pockets are noticeably sleek, with flaps engineered to be tucked in for ease of access, along with zippered shoulder pockets that reduce bulk while still allowing room for all essential gear.

Like the Combat Pants, G4 Field Pants pockets are carefully located and intentionally engineered to reduce excess material and weight. There’s an adjustable waistband and mesh venting throughout the pant for maximum air-flow and breathability, providing the maximum comfort even under the most stressful situations. Compatible with all AIRFLEX® Field knee pads.

The team at Crye also made a conscious effort ensure sizing was consistent across all G4 styles. And that all garments fit true to size after laundering.  The G4 line has a more athletic fit than the G3 but the inherent stretch of the VTX™ Ripstop fabric enhances the wearer’s mobility and comfort.

“We at Crye support individual liberty and our inalienable rights.  Our military and police safeguard those rights” stated Crye Precision® Founder, Caleb Crye.  “We create products for people who operate in highly demanding environments. Our new G4 series uniforms are a direct result of listening to specific user needs and building designs around them, from the fabric to each feature and detail.  We’re honored to supply those who put themselves in harm’s way to keep the rest of us safe and we’re proud to be making all of our products right here in the USA.”

The G4 Uniforms are available now through the Crye Precision® website, www.cryeprecision.com; and are available initially in MultiCam® Pattern, with other colors being launched throughout 2019. As always, contact Crye Precision® for any customizations to orders.

Phipps Joins Union Sportsmen’s Alliance as Strategic Accounts Manager

Saturday, November 24th, 2018

Spring Hill, Tenn. — The Union Sportsmen’s Alliance (USA) has expanded its union relations department with the addition of U.S. Army combat veteran, union pipefitter and lifelong outdoorsman Sam Phipps as the organization’s new strategic accounts manager.

The USA is stepping up its union relations efforts to keep pace with a record-setting increase in projects and events aimed at protecting North America’s outdoor heritage by uniting union members for conservation, outreach and community service.

Under the guidance of Union Relations Director Walt Ingram, Phipps will manage the USA’s strategic endemic partnerships and help launch the organization’s new Partner Local Program—which provides local unions with greater opportunities to benefit their communities. He will also serve as the USA’s liaison with the Union Veteran’s Council and grassroots contact with United Association (UA) members.

A lifelong resident of Elsberry, Missouri, Phipps grew up hunting and fishing on the Mississippi River. He served his country as a U.S. Army Infantryman in Afghanistan 2011 and 2012. Upon returning home, he entered the UA’s Veterans in Piping (VIP) program, and is currently a 5th-year apprentice with UA Local 562 out of St. Louis, Missouri.

Phipps remains a diehard sportsman, and has dedicated himself to helping youth and U.S. Armed Forces veterans enjoy the outdoors by volunteering with the Union Veterans Council, The Fallen Outdoors, the USA and various mentorship efforts.

“Sam has exemplified leadership and service to his country, to the Union Veteran’s Council, as a fundraiser and organizer for The Fallen Outdoors, as a mentor to both youth and veterans, and he continues to demonstrate that commitment daily as he works as a UA fitter and a devoted husband and father,” said USA CEO and Executive Director Scott Vance. “Sam has a proven track record of developing strong partnerships both inside and outside of the union community, and he’s demonstrated that he can grow those partnerships into something meaningful for the outdoor passions that he loves.”

Phipps is eager to tackle his new responsibilities. “I am extremely grateful to begin working for an organization whose mission means so much to me,” he said. “To work in the name of conservation, community, youth, veterans and my union brothers and sisters is an opportunity of a lifetime.”

No Fighting in the War Room: Military History Chronicle Launches

Friday, November 23rd, 2018

Radford, VA – The Military History Chronicle (MHC, milhistorychronicle.com) is now live.

Though still in a nascent stage, the Military History Chronicle promises engaging, in-depth analysis of critical military events throughout history.

MHC features the perspective of accomplished historians Jeff Ballard and W. “Bucky” Lawson on everything from the (overrated?) significance of the Battle of Midway to an analysis of Lincoln’s strategic victory at Ft. Sumter. Current content is only on YouTube but will soon spread to the blogosphere. No Fighting in the War Room, the channel’s signature segment, features Ballard and Lawson discussing (and occasionally arguing over) such questions as, “Who was the best fighting admiral in the Pacific?”, and “Was Kelly’s Heroes better than The Dirty Dozen?”

Hosts Lawson and Ballard themselves are an odd combo of California surfer dude and Appalachian hillbilly. Both earned master’s degrees in Military History (with honors even!) and decided to use their newly-minted edjumacation to engage the world on social media. Or something. Lawson writes for the peer-reviewed Journal of the Saber and Scroll Historical Society and other publications; Ballard likewise scribes for the Journal and can also be found in the pages of Strategy & Tactics Press.

Though both historians are primarily interested in WWII matters, the channel and blog will address topics from any time periods. Content will include book reviews and interviews, tongue-in-cheek responses to viewer and reader questions, and the consumption of both bourbon and cigars. There is also a historical swag shop (www.thewarroom.store) with t-shirts and other loot; proceeds will be used to improve production value. And buy cigars.

SIG SAUER Wins 2018 Guns & Ammo Awards for “Handgun of the Year” and “Innovation of the Year”

Thursday, November 22nd, 2018

Newington, N.H. (November 20, 2018) – SIG SAUER, Inc. is pleased to announce that it has been recognized for two of Guns & Ammo Magazine’s prestigious annual awards for SIG SAUER products. The SIG SAUER P365 pistol was named “Handgun of the Year,” and the SIG SAUER Electro-Optics Ballistic Data Xchange (BDX™) rangefinder and riflescope system was named “Innovation of the Year.”

Recipients of the 2018 Guns & Ammo of the Year Awards were evaluated on the following criteria: 1) the product was new and available for purchase in 2018, 2) the product must have demonstrated quality and reliability to a degree that met or exceeded its design objective, and 3) the product must offer the greatest appeal to the masses.

2018 Guns & Ammo “Handgun of the Year”: Since its introduction in January 2018, the SIG SAUER P365 pistol has taken the market by storm, and is the top selling pistol on the market today. The P365 is an everyday, concealed carry pistol. This high capacity micro-compact pistol is smaller and lighter than other pistols in its class. It features a high-capacity, patented modified double-stack magazine for a 10+1 full-size capacity, with 12-round factory made magazines available for 13-round capacity.

“To have the P365 micro-compact pistol receive the Handgun of the Year award by Guns & Ammo magazine is really an exceptional honor, and is the direct result of the relentless drive of our engineers and product managers to push the envelope when developing new products,” said Tom Taylor, Chief Marketing Officer, and Executive Vice President, Commercial Sales, SIG SAUER, Inc. “Our goal with the P365 was to bring an everyday carry, micro-compact pistol with full-size capacity to the market that consumers could depend on 365 days a year, and this award is validation that we succeeded.”

2018 Guns & Ammo “Innovation of the Year”: The SIG SAUER Electro-Optics BDX system combines traditional hunting equipment with technology. BDX™ is a fully integrated rangefinder and riflescope system that utilizes Applied Ballistics Ultralight and Bluetooth™ to calculate and illuminate the exact holdover dot for the perfect shot. BDX™ is simple, fast, and intuitive – just connect the dot. The SIG BDX app is free and available for Android or iOS devices.

“The foundation of the BDX™ rangefinder and riflescope system is innovation, and to have the editors of Guns & Ammo Magazine recognize the rangefinder, riflescope, and app that creates the BDX system makes our entire team at SIG SAUER Electro-Optics immensely proud,” added Andy York, President, SIG SAUER Electro-Optics. “In their analysis the magazine editors really hit the mark by acknowledging BDX™ for its simplicity, speed, quality, and affordability, and further noting that when used together, it is the most advanced hunting technology introduced in many years.”

The 2018 Guns & Ammo of the Year Awards, and the full-feature articles on the SIG SAUER P365 and SIG SAUER Electro-Optics BDX™ system, are featured in the current issue of Guns & Ammo magazine.

The USR™ (Upper Standard Receiver) has a deliberately undersized barrel extension bore so that barrel fit is as tight as possible and the cam pin recess has been improved with a radius cut on its edge that helps reduce cam pin wear in that area.

The LA-SF15™ lower receiver is again machined from 7075-T6 forgings and features an internally Flared Magwell to assist in easer reloading and insertion of the magazine. The rear takedown hole has a spot face machined into it to make accessing the pin easier too.

Both receivers are Type3 Class2 Hardcoat Anodised to MIL-A-3625.

Each rifle comes complete with our E-BCG® Enhanced Bolt & Carrier, manufactured from case hardened 8620 steel. The Bolt is machined form Carpenter 158 and is MPI tested, parts are then QPQ Nitrided to finish. The patented E-BCG® features our CP-R360™ domed head cam pin (also patented) that reduces friction and wear within the upper.

image-195.jpg

The gas system on each rifle features our Nitrided stainless gas tubes and Swiss Lathe machined gas blocks. The 300 Blackout rifles all feature pistol length gas systems for reliability and the .223/5.56 rifles vary in length with an Intermediate gas length on the 14.5’’ PATROL rifle that offers extremely soft shooting.

Barrels are manufactured from 416R Stainless Steel and have a 1:7 Twist on the .223/5.56 and a 1:8 on the 300 Blackout. The .223/5.56 are chambered 223 Wylde. All barrels feature 11° crowns with ½-28TPI on the .223/5.56 and 5/8-24 on the 300 Blackout.

SureFire Shipping SOCOM260-TI & SOCOM260-RC2 Suppressors!

Wednesday, November 21st, 2018

Fountain Valley, CA—SureFire, LLC, manufacturer of the world’s finest—and most innovative—illumination tools and tactical products, is proud to announce the launch of two suppressors for 6 mm, 6.5 mm and .260 caliber weapon systems. First, SureFire’s exotic SOCOM260-Ti is extremely lightweight and quiet, best suited for bolt-action rifles where back pressure isn’t an issue. Next, the versatile SureFire SOCOM260-RC2 suppressor meets and exceeds the needs of 6mm,  6.5 Creedmoor and .260 caliber, semiautomatic rifles by utilizing the same technology that earned the SOCOM556-RC suppressor a victory in the harshest, most demanding suppressor trials in US Special Operations Command history.

SureFire’s SOCOM260-Ti is the lightest rifle-mount suppressor in the lineup, but if you want the best in noise attenuation, quality materials and precision craftsmanship, it’s a genuine heavy hitter. Of course, the Ti in the model name stands for titanium, and it should come as no surprise that SureFire employs only high-grade titanium alloy to produce a premium suppressor that weighs a mere 12 ounces while maintaining our strictest durability standards. But it isn’t just exotic materials that make the SOCOM260-Ti. Our engineers painstakingly crafted the SOCOM260-Ti’s  V-shaped baffles to optimize performance for maximum noise attenuation. Precision tolerances, strict attention to bore concentricity and suppressor alignment with our versatile Fast-Attach® mounting system combine to provide the best titanium suppressor available.

When designing the SOCOM260-RC2 suppressor, SureFire refused to use anything but the highest grade high-temperature alloys that are CNC laser-welded and uncompromisingly durable and better suited to the higher-round count abuse of precision gas-guns. Inside, SureFire’s advanced vented baffling reduces back pressure, so as to not affect the reliability of the gas operated weapons platforms this suppressor is intended to be used on. In addition, SureFire’s patented Fast-Attach® system makes attachment/removal of the suppressor quick and easy in any environment. The SOCOM260-RC2 incorporates the latest in manufacturing techniques and materials to produce a class-leading suppressor, delivering the utmost in sound attenuation and a tremendous reduction in flash and dust signature.

Built for consistent performance and a long service life, every SureFire suppressor is proudly made in the USA.
